    Super cool. I love these kinds of videos but all too often it's clear that the workers aren't getting taken care of when it comes to safety standards. Really happy to see the respirators here and no workers having to do dangerous jobs for no reason. The process is cool, but keeping those workers safe is what really deserves the respect here!

      The couple blokes are wearing dust masks which provide no protection against toxic gases etc not respirators , quite often companies provide dust masks to make it look like they care when are fully aware of the little safety they provide but the cost of the two different items are significantly different , but I would agree this looks safer than many of the rio rod vids :)

      When you praise this, just remember that the reason why these factories look soo clean, is because they are new. Just like how you see some small countries with super fast internet....it's because they didn't even really advance until it was already that advanced, so it's their first system ever, utilizing modern technology. Same with manufacturing, these countries didn't have it until America gave the technology to them. But it's different in America, where fiber optic might be better, but you already have trillions of dollars worth of old infrastructure already in place, which is what makes it hard to advance. Same with factories, why build a whole new modern one for X millions or billions of dollars, when you already have one that does the job just fine. The only problem in America is that old infrastructure is sold at prices of new infrastructure, even though people should be reaping the benefits of the lower cost of an already built infrastructure, the prices still continue to rise. They are robbing the economy blind.

    2:16 are the mysterious round chunks of steel used as a roller to help move the heavy bars?

    • @alexistaylor969
      @alexistaylor969 Рік тому +16

      They are just set blocks and spacers. They are round so they roll when it is time to dump them and they will roll off into the recollection slot easier.
      Their purpose is to keep the bar uplifted so it heats faster and easier and to allow the machine to grab something small to move the bar. This keeps the machine from having to constantly touch the bars while being heated and prevents forge welding to the machine and jams from it. If the block gets forge welded to the bar it just needs to be knocked off (as seen when the bar gets kicked out of the furnace and the blocks just fall off and roll out.
      If the machine parts got forge welded you would constantly have to halt production and let the machine cool so someone could repair it.
      They also allow for a simple feed system. Rather than a conveyor belt or chain running inside the furnace they can use a hydraulic press from the outside using the rounded blocks as spacers and moving supports for the steel.
      In short, they are sacrificial but serves multiple purposes and can be reused many times before the forge burns them up completely.

      Take it from me as someone who has been around steel mills and machine shops since i was born.
      If you make a mistake? You're going to know it because you're going to be missing a Finger, a Limb or everything will just go black.
      It is intimidating and its a good thing that you find it intimidating. I own my machine shop, i do fabrication, heavy equipment repair and prototyping in my shop. There is not 1 single Lathe, Drill press, Mill, or CNC mill that doesn't absolutely scare the sh*t out of me. I Have been doing it for 17 years and i havent gotten hurt once. I Do rent out shop space for people to bring their projects in to work on themselves and if i see 1 tiny mistake, No safety glasses, improper clothing, necklaces, earrings, just being stupid around machines, i will kick them out without giving them a chance to give me an explanation.
      Comfort is what gets you hurt in a place like this, Going right to Z and skipping X and Y, respect the equipment around you, keep your eyes open, pay attention and you do just fine. Get too comfortable, start making tiny mistakes here and there? you can seriously hurt yourself or a co-worker or worse yet, end up killing yourself or a co-worker.
      In short, Machine shops, steel mills ect are the very definition of "F**k around and find out" and "Don't stick your fingy where you wouldn't stick your dingy" and "If it doesnt come natural, dont force it" 😂😂😂

    Man Korea is where it’s at 😍. Not only do you have amazing heavy industry and manufacturing, but Korea is also on the bleeding edge of computer chip manufacturing and lithography too. Oh and you also have the fastest internet speeds of any modern country in the world too.
    Not that you have zero problems, but man I wish the good ol’ USA would take a page from South Korea’s economic playbook 😂
