A BIG reason as to why I believe the PS2 was the greatest console to ever exist and had the best gallery of games is because it happened to have the 99% of the best fighting games ever released, to the point where you could almost never go wrong purchasing a fighting game for the PS2, there was so much healthy variety, there was ZERO DLC and as a result, fighting games on the PS2 were a better overall package than their later counterparts.
Sony allowed developers to have at it and allowed consoles to live on well into next consoles life cycle. Nintendo and Microsoft generally kill off old console to quickly push new one. That’s Sony’s big secret, PS3 is still kicking. PS2 was around when PS4 dropped.
I know developers had issues programming this thing at first. But once they got their heads around how it worked, the PS2 was a beast of a machine. They made the hardware sing and dance in ways I thought was impossible. Especially with the limited 4MB of VRAM.

The problem with ps2 with fighting games is even though it had a huge amount of fighting games, you would say probably only about 5 percent of them had their best versions of those games on the ps2. I feel like 95 percent of ps2 fighting games had better versions on other consoles
Dead or Alive 2 was better on Dreamcast. Guilty Gear X was also better on Dreamcast. Capcom vs Snk 2 was better except that one and GG X were only released in Japan.
For starters most titles like Tekken were only available on PS2. GG accent core wasn’t out yet for DC a show are any titles actually better else were? Dreamcast? Dpad is trash, so most 2d fighters many fans prefer PS2 for its widely popular controller.

I pretty much own every single fighting game made for PS2 ( both Japanese and USA; also some PAL). Then you could add KOF Orochi collection and Kizuna Encounter ( FUUNN Super Combo) for PS2. I really hope I can get an answer on this. Late 90's early 00's I played a figter game on PS1 or PS2 but cannot remember the name of it. It had a Mortal Kombat type style to it but the thing I remember most about it was 1 of the characters had a very long chained combo and as he performed it he began to turn invisible. The character looked a bit like the silver surfer only he was made of ice. Please please someone help me out with this!
sounds an awful lot to an obvious game such as Killer Instinct 1 for the arcades or KI Gold for the N64. Glacius is an ice alien and Cinder was a man of fireiirc could make himself invisible, but it's probably something else
