yup, this is what you get when the "load management is bad! 😡" crowd actually gets a decision in the matter youll get players whore forced to end their career early because their coach couldnt wait a week to have tjem heal properly before coming back
My thoughts exactly, but those were just the yips. THIS was partly the yips, but mostly awful mismanagement by the organization. Poor guy. At least he's doing well as a college coach now.
THE YIPS I had that in CDL A driving school lol. I swear everyone said i was a natural. I was the best out there n then suddenly i couldnt dock a trailer. No idea why but i developed an anxiety very rapid. People thought i was messing around n i had to postpone my test a couple weeks. Ever since i had a anxiety about docking lol. I mean i just worked through it forcing myself to not gey frustrated n be confident n over time it became easier n times id do it without a worry. That pressure n anxiety of performing starts wrighing heavy when you lose confidence in ur ability. Its a mental barrier u have to beat with confidence
Another reason this Braves fan feels sorry for anyone who plays for the Mets. Their management and many of their fans deserve the performance they get.
The yips is totally real and a strange thing. I played catcher for my company softball team in the day, was very good at it. Then one day i just could NOT get the ball to the pitcher. Over his head. Throw a grounder past him. He would get so frustrated and I was so embarressed. Its like the mind is over thining it, yet you arent aware of it.. quite the phenomena. I cant imagine having the yips with all the pressure of 1000s of fans watching. I think the Cardinals had a pitcher, Ankiel or something who just could not get the ball over the plate.
So the team management forced him to return before the injury was properly healed and ruined his career ! 🤨
I mean it’s the Mets, what do you expect
@@twite5462Speaking as a Mets fan, yeah.
It’s the Mets. Should be the the Mess

Mets have a long history of ruining good players.
Take care of your health, to ALL the people out there
this should be to everyone not just athletes 🤦♂️
@@bespinguard7129 gosh people always whine about something
@@r.jguerra5526Yeah
In spite of his problems, I actually saw him throw out Rickey Henderson stealing second
So this is who the catcher in major league 2 was based on 😂
Exactly what I was thinking
It happens to a lot of players. Called the yips.
@@billythekidder7182 that’s not the yips tho. Dude was just hurt
@@KevinMartinez-pt5zlIt was the yips. A little research goes a long way.
Rube Baker
Sasser was my first favorite player because he is from my hometown. Still lives around here and coaches a college ball team.
glad to hear he's still involved in ball
Never knew why but wow. Now I know and that’s fvcked up!
Rudy Baker from Major League 2 in a nutshell
He was not traded, he signed with Seattle as a FA.
can't cure that problem. Chuck Knobloch for the Yankees and Choo-Choo Coleman for the Mets both were sunk by the same problem.
Years ago, the Milwaukee Brewers, once had a third baseman, Randy Ready who was an air mail specialist
Shame the coaching staff didn’t properly care for his injury
BAKERRRR!!!!!!
It's happened to other catchers. Gary Bennett near the end of his career comes to mind.
The yips is real
Same thing happened to Chuck Knoblauch for the Twins.
Steve Sax of Dodgers the same.
YIPS YIPS YIPS....
That's painful to get through.
The brain!
Jarrod Saltalamacchia is another catcher that comes to mind who struggled with the “yips.”
Rube from Major League 2. Minus the Playboy and Fredericks of Hollywood catalog.
My thoughts exactly, but those were just the yips. THIS was partly the yips, but mostly awful mismanagement by the organization. Poor guy. At least he's doing well as a college coach now.

Damn sucks to be that guy
I played for Mackey in college. He still cant throw the ball back to the pitcher 😂
Wasn’t this an ESPN 30 for 30 episode? I forgot the name of it unfortunately
yeah it was a short - "Fields of Fear" super interesting
@@pakkmann Thanks for the reply! I knew I remembered it from somewhere. Shame all of their shorts and episodes can’t be on YT Free Movies
he wasn't traded to Seattle, he signed as a FA
Actually very sad. Hope he is ok today.
He's good. Currently coaches a college ball team in his hometown.
Mets gonna Met
I wonder if It was a case of the "yips".
Something that both Steve Sax and Olympic gymnast Simone Biles once had.
Was he the inspiration behind the character in Major League 2 movie? Lol
So that's where they got the idea for the movie Major League
It's funny I was just looking at his baseball card. He did not strikeout as well. They should have put him on first.
So? Yipps pr too painful?
Another reason this Braves fan feels sorry for anyone who plays for the Mets. Their management and many of their fans deserve the performance they get.
The real life Rube from Major League 2
Yips
What kind of bullcrap was up with that? That is the kind of thing lawyers and a players union should be protecting players from.
chuck knoblauch couldn't throw it to 1st base.....even from 20' away...hahaha
It was a shame I always loved Sasser as a ball player.
The Mets ruined him, then got mad at him for their stupidity. Sounds like the Mets to me, regardless of ownership.
Wow, they Mets'ed his career up with that one stupid managerial call.
Let’s Go!🫢💙🔱

He wasn't traded that's a lie! Free agency!!!! Get your facts straight kiddo!
Thats crazy shame on the mets... Thats a lawsuit forsure
Why did no one tell him to just start reciting magazine articles to himself? Bad coaching
Um send him to the American league and DH
Egg
He should've been a DH, instead.
I know him very well
Goddam that's sad.Hows he doin?
Mets ruining players once again
Average Mets
It’s always us bro😭😭😭
Sasser wasn't traded to Seattle, he left in free agency.
