@2die2sin Bishop Owen had a unique way of preaching second to none. He also built up the church's wallet, leaving the church far better off financially than when he assumed leadership. Bishop Patterson was a worldwide evangelist. He was known all around the world before he became presiding Bishop. Him being the bishop brought even more eyes to the COGIC than was already there. Bishop Blake did so much during his time. He literally doubled the footprint of the church. Coming into the office with the church being in a little over 50 countries when he exited the office, the church was in well over 100 nations around the world. He did what needed to be done and moved the convocation to St. Louis, forcing Memphis city officials to take the church complaint seriously. Again, they were all great and left the church better off than when they went in.
@@misterjones842I love your explanation of our former presiders. Tell us briefly of J. O. Patterson and L. H. Ford. And what do you think Bishop J. D. Sheard will do for the church?
@MaeSekou Bishop J O Patterson was the key figure in changing the church's governmental system in the 1960s. While I disagree with how it was instituted, I do believe it was the right step to take after the death of Bishop O T Jones Sr. This new system was one of the tools Bishop Patterson used to help the COGIC not look like a one man cult. My favorite presiding bishop was Louis Ford. Bishop Ford was a native of my home state, Mississippi. As a child, he was educated in the school owned by the church in Lexington, Mississippi. This explains why his number one passion when becoming the Presiding Bishop was to fix and remodel the old school. Bishop Ford was also a man with favor on his life. He was respected and celebrated by civil rights leaders, celebrities, governors, senators, and presidents, all while maintaining his devotion to holiness and the COGIC style of praise. I don't know what Bishop Sheard will do. I am getting to know him, like many others are. I can only speak of what I want to see him do. The church today is in Intensive Care. It's hemorrhaging blood. There's political divisions. There's cultural divisions. There's an exodus of an entire generation as we speak. I want to see the current Presiding Bishop mobilize the saints for battle. Enough with the entertainment inside our individual clubhouses. The COGIC grew like a wild fire in the early years from house prayer and bible band, street corner preaching, tent revivals, and basic evangelism. We must go back to that. Bishop Sheard seems like a good man who will do his best to hold our fragile church together.
@@misterjones842how about greatness according to the word of God not worldly things. All that you said God cares nothing about. Jesse Jackson is a Marxist and sold the black church to the Democratic Party. what is doing up there. COGIC sold their souls long time ago.

SOME TIMES THAT IS WHAT HAPPENS TO THE VERY BEST LEADERS AND BESIDES IT HAPPENS TO OUR NATION'S LEADERS LIKE RICHARD NIXON AND I'M SURE MANY OTHERS. BTW BISHOP OWENS WAS VOTED OUT OF OFFICE DUE TO BEING INEPT TO STOPPING A DISTURBANCE AT THE 93RD ANNUAL HOLY CONVOCATION AND BISHOP GILBERT PATTERSON WAS ELECTED IN HIS PLACE AS PRESIDING BISHOP
The lady on organ was his local church organist. Whenever she was at the conventions and he was at the mic, he wanted her to play. I was standing right there when our music department president at that time (Luvonia Whitley) tried to explain to bishop that we had much better organists that would be able to flow with him. She put it as nicely and professionally as possible. When he finished talking, we had a very clear understanding that her position was locked in as long as he was the presiding bishop.
What an amazing view of the three Presiding Bishops! All were great in their own way!
Can you give us a brief example/explanation of their greatness?

Should have never been voted out as Presiding Bishop. One of the most qualified Presiding Bishop.

Is that Jesse Jackson?
Yes that's him
Yes😂
That definitely wasn't Twinkie on that organ 😢..and the drummerboi 😮
😂😂😂it was nana
I think the poor organist was trying to keep up lol
Sad to see Jesse Jackson up there and still in sin. And working with the political party that legislates the most evil bills in the USA.
During the praise after the organist stopped 3 times unexpectedly that's where the traditional hymn" Yes Lord", would be perfect.
The organist would've been fired after that night.....you don't have to play for this Convocation ever again. Sorry.
Omg it was horrific lol

Lollllll.... Sounded like a gospel circus chimpanzee was playing
Those musicians suck! That tempo is way too fast.. the drummer should have started at a moderate beat where people can actually shout..
