  • The castle of Villalba, in Cebolla (Toledo) is completely in ruins. Its oldest preserved parts correspond to the 11th and 12th centuries.
The baptismal font that was in the castle chapel is in the Cebolla church.
The construction of the castle dates back to Roman times, and was later refurbished during the time of the Caliphate of Córdoba, with important reforms after its conquest by the Order of the Temple. Later it passed into private hands, belonging to different noble families, and today it is the property of the counts of Deleytosa, although its state is in total ruin.
This castle witnessed the siege of Juan II by the infant Enrique de Trastámara, in his flight towards the castle of Montalbán.
Its strategic location, at the top of a hill from which the wide plain of the Tagus can be seen and next to a crossroads of roads, offers ideal conditions for the establishment of a fortified post that controls the territory. At the foot of the hill passed a Roman road, the A25 road of Antoninus Pius, which justifies the possibility of at least one mansio (in the Roman Empire, a "mansio" was an official inn for the use of businessmen and officials, controlled by the central government). At the same location, Roman materials were recorded, although the military work was mostly built in the Islamic era, and later some reforms were carried out under the ownership of the Order of the Temple.
It is also known as the castle of Bolobrás, which appears in a privilege of Alfonso VII of 1142.
