  • In this preview of his upcoming book "James Trouble," David Benjamin delves into the controversial interpretations of the Epistle of James and its impact on Gospel understanding. He challenges common views, arguing that misinterpretations of James have led to damaging doctrines contrary to Christ's teachings. Benjamin explores James' historical context, his relationship with Jesus, and his influence in the early church. He critically examines the Acts 15 conference and the Jerusalem church's beliefs, highlighting the tension between faith and works. Benjamin emphasizes that James' letter reflects the beliefs of his time and underscores the necessity of Paul's revelations on justification, union with Christ, and the body of Christ as cornerstones of practical Christianity. This insightful preview promises a deep dive into the theological implications of James' epistle and its relevance to contemporary Christian faith.

    James is the book that most pastors and people take out of context, I really enjoyed the history lesson and commentary. Your teachings have blessed me, Thank You. I also enjoyed the revelation of godly character expressed through men both in the bible and in life. We must discern our teachers while allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us into Jesus Christ through understanding and then applied wisdom. God's Character and HIS-STORY lead us in Love. We serve out of an abundance of what He did on the cross, his death and the glorious resurrection. Thank you Jesus and David, Amen.

    Damn dude Amen. What a good book. You really do help us break down and see how James would have been perceived and lift it up into the place that he's in among men. Where is my thing with Paul and I agree is that you continually see him lift up his ministry because of the pressure that he is receiving in opposition of his ministry which is given to him by the revelation of Jesus Christ so amen brother thankful for all that God is input it in you to share with us

    I now see David is on path because of galatians 2:8-9 shows James was zealous for the law and was speaking to jews who had become Christians and was teaching to the circumcised not the gentiles or uncircumcised. Thank you David so I repent my original beliefs on James

      I suspect it'll take 2 months at this rate. There's probably about 20 to 30 chapters. A lot of it is weeding out duplicate content, figuring out the best order and then the tedious part of editing

    The key to understanding James is found in the first verse. It’s dispensational. Salvation will be different in the Tribulation. Praying for your wife and dog.

      @@davidbenjamininchrist But didn’t the Israelites perform works by sacrificing? I know that’s not true in the times we’re living now since Jesus fulfilled the Law for us on Calvary.

      the law was given to the NATION. the nation was chastened and blessed due to their relationship to the law,as a whole, from the leadership down but no individual was ever justified by the works the ydid. during the babylonian captivity, the NATION was judged, the temple was destroyed and NO ONE could keep the law, there was no aaronic priesthood. yet the BELIVERS like daniel, nehemiah, ruth, esther and the others recroded during that period were BLESSED and WALKED WITH GOD by FAITH aprat from works.

    Interestingly the Muratorian Canon (earliest canon containing 22 of 27 NT books) did _not_ contain James.

    • @ElianAbi
      @ElianAbi 5 місяців тому +1

      Not included: Hebrews, James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter
      Probably included: Matthew, Mark, 1 John
      Maybe included: 2 John, 3 John
      Included that is not included today: Apocalypse of Peter, Wisdom of Solomon
      Careful not to take this canon at face value (the writer recommends The Shepherd of Hermas - the single most works-salvationist book ever probably).

    Is having guilty feeling a sign of chastisement or will it always be severe like losing a job because i am not sure if i have ever been chastened and the Bible says if you are not chastened your not saved so could i just not have ever recognized it?

    • @davidbenjamininchrist
      @davidbenjamininchrist  5 місяців тому +20

      Chastisement is not a punishment for your sins . God's discipline is to train you to know Christ in the midst of all your situations, trials and experiences you learn to start interpreting things in the light of Christ as your righteousness rather than leaning on the flesh. This is a painful training because we are stubborn. I recommend you get my book messages of Grace on discipline because you've been taught wrong on discipline and you're looking for something that is not according to God's character and dealing with you. His first discipline is for you to know that you're saved, regardless of any experience that you've had, any feeling you've had or anything you've sensed. And that's learning to stand by faith in the gospel and he will train you in that. And at the end of it you'll say I was disciplined. As you look back and see all the error that you had to unlearn in order to stand in Christ as your righteousness

    • @david_zello_InChrist1514
      @david_zello_InChrist1514 5 місяців тому +13

      Chastisement is just Fatherly discipline from the Father and it's not necessarily because you did something bad but rather because you did something good. The Lord will always prine back the branches in Him that bear fruit, but The Father also cares for and tends to the branches in the Vine that don't bear fruit. He taketh them away, which means He lifts them up, gives them special care and nurture so in due season fruit from the Holy Spirit as Christ works more of Himself into you will come out and spring forth in resurrection. I would encourage you to abide in the Vine by letting the message which you heard from the beginning abide in you by setting your mind on the message which you've heard; which is the gospel (i.e that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and He came by water and blood, came in the flesh and went to the cross to die for your sins by shedding His blood, was buried and rose the third day from the dead for your justification, and that you are a son and an heir of God who is your Father and has given everything to you in Christ, that you are complete in him and lack nothing, and He is the head of all things to you, is working everything together for your good, and is faithful to Shepherd and bring you into rest and ultimate glory with Himself, simply because you believe in Jesus Christ). The suspense and doubt in your mind concerning your christian life is actually a form of tender care and discipline from the Father so that you'll come to Him in faith boldly by faith in the blood of Jesus to His throne od grace so that you'll receive grace for help in time of need, so be comforted in that. :)

      A guilty feeling is your flesh and an unperfected conscience. You have to keep your eyes on Christ and be found in Him, with your faith in the blood. Your feelings are ever changing and you have to tell even your feelings that theyre lying to you when they contradict who you are in Christ and what Christ has secured for you. Set your mind on things above, reckon your flesh dead and crucified but alive to Christ because He is your life and is always the solution. God wants you to come boldly to the throne of Grace, not shrink back because of your condition. Anyway, im praying for you Brother. Stay grounded in the Gospel🙏🏾.
      Romans 8:5-6 KJV
      For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. [6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
      Hebrews 4:16 KJV
      Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
      Hebrews 10:19 KJV
      Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
      Galatians 2:20-21 KJV
      I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me. [21] I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.
