    Just got my spark live and went to my buddy he has a spark cab and a spark 40. We played around I like the deluxe reverb sound and we compared both. The cab sounds much more like an amp to our ears. The live sounds generally great but direct comparing with cab it sounds narrow while the cab sound open and more direct. I will get the cap since I also have a Spark 40

      Nice! I haven't played with PositiveGrid's stuff for some time now. I wonder what makes such a big difference between the two cabinets, do you think that the amp sims are also different somehow?

      @@arbitersofsound We talked about that. I think it’s the same but it sounds different the cab has one big 10inch speaker and not that speaker and subwoofer setup to accommodate all the Live options.Especially on very low volumes I thought. I urge everyone to compare before you buy. Sending the Live back if you don’t like it is on you will cost you about maybe 70$.

      Thanks for the feedback! We were trying to keep it slightly short and simple and make the video more into a guide, but next time we can try and go a bit deeper into the physics.

      Most people don't want to hear or even understand the physics or engineering details behind tech they use, they just want a basic understanding of how it works and how to use it best. This video accomplishes that.

      Hi! What is the output of your acoustic guitar like? Does the guitar have an on-board preamp / level control? If it doesn't then you should activate the HI-Z button on the front of the Ai22. Give me some more details about the guitar / setup so I can see if I can help you more :D

    I have an acoustic/electric (PR-5E) connecting to a MOTU M4 interface - still confused about which to use - can you help? Do I need a DI box? My guitar has both Hi-Z (1/4”) and Lo-Z (XLR) outs. Many thanks

    • @arbitersofsound
      @arbitersofsound  Рік тому

      You definitely DONT need a DI. You can either:
      1 - connect Lo-Z to the Mic input on the M4
      2 - connect Hi-Z to the Guitar input on the M4
      These are all available on channels 1 and 2
      and I guess you can select whether they are Mic/Line or Guitar from the software.
      I hope this helps, otherwise let me know :D

    But does it really have to be exclusively Hi-z input for guitar if I 'm using amp emulator software such as GuitarRig or Amplitube?
    I just bought Focusrite Scarlet 8i6 and still need to set it up and try out...thing is, I need the two front inputs for 2 microphones, so that means I have to plug in two more guitars into line inputs on the back of the unit, that's my only option. Do I really need a DI box for guitars or I can just as well plug them into line-in and shape my tone in GuitarRig?

    • @arbitersofsound
      @arbitersofsound  Рік тому

      Unfortunately you either need to plug them in the front, or you need to convert them to Line Level to connect in the rear.
      Your standard DI converts to Mic Level so that's not an option as well.
      So you probably need one of the 3:
      More mic preamps (so you connect guitars in the front and mics in the preamps and then into the line in the back)
      Some guitar preamp/pedal (so you connect guitars to it and from there to the line in the back)
      Return the interface if you can and get something with more mic preamps :(

      @@arbitersofsound Thanks for the info! I was a bit too hasty buying this. I do have an old Behringer Eurorack hardware mixer...maybe I can use it for 1 mic and 1 guitar and then input that into Scarlett's Line inputs? I am not sure does this mixer have just line or also instrument inputs tho...I do know it has 4 mic preamps. ...I don't really want to buy any extra gear, I'd rather return 8i6 and get 18i8 ...its about €130 difference and if i have to spend more money on some kind of pedal you say...? ...maybe I'd rather just get a bigger Scarlett.

    • @arbitersofsound
      @arbitersofsound  Рік тому +1

      @@Lokjutus Maybe you can use the mixer for both mics (pan one full left and the other full right and then plug the mixer outs to the line ins in the back) and then use the front of the interface for guitars. But yeah ideally the bigger interface is probably the most futureproof option.
