A fine, fine rendition of yet another great song written by Louden Wainright 3, whom I have been a fan of and followed since early 70’s ( yes, me old now ) whom is still performing about the country! To bridge the age gap, also love the works of Andrew, Emily, & crew all along. Our most recent venture was last summer, for a two night show at Pine Lodge MT, way worth the trip from NW WA. Warm memories and smiles remain. Cheers All !
This summer I went swimming This summer I might have drowned But I held my breath and I kicked my feet And I moved my arms around Moved my arms around This summer I swam in the ocean And I swam in a swimming pool Salt my wounds, chlorine my eyes I'm a self-destructive fool I'm a self-destructive fool This summer I did the backstroke And you know that that's not all I did the breaststroke and the butterfly And the old Australian crawl The old Australian crawl This summer I swam in a public place And a reservoir to boot At the latter I was informal At the former I wore my suit I wore my swimming suit, yeah This summer I did swan dives And jackknives for you all And once when you weren't looking I did a cannonball Did a cannonball This summer I went swimming This summer I might have drowned But I held my breath and I kicked my feet And I moved my arms around Moved my arms around
NikiArrowsmith I think you are mistaken about that. I had always thought LWIII wrote it because it was on several albums and it his certainly his style. I google searched and got confirmation he wrote it. Do you have some other info?
NikiArrowsmith I did not know that Peter B wrote Daughter. I am so used to thinking LWIII wrote everything he sings that fact would have escaped me. Thanks.
Visiting this again. Wow... incredible 👏
Love u guys hope ur doing well❤
Wow, how can this song NOT put a smile on your face? I love it!
Love these artists, and this song. Thank you all for another wonderful song. Your music adds to the quality of my life. God bless each of you.

I just fall more and more under the spell of Mandolin Orange - sublime! :)
Love it. 👍
2 of my favorite groups!!!! Love this, and always wishing y'all well 💖.
What a fun song. Very clever lyrics. Made me whip out my guitar to play along.
This is fantastic, what a group of amazingly talented people
Absolutely brilliant. Love the story behind it, but even better than that ... new album!!!
Ah, so glad y'all did this song! An all time favorite to make me happy. Long summer days at the lake swimming and sun soaking.
And such a great combination of two of my favorite go-to artists
OMG! I 💖 this song!🎶

This summer I went swimming
This summer I might have drowned
But I held my breath and I kicked my feet
And I moved my arms around
Moved my arms around
This summer I swam in the ocean
And I swam in a swimming pool
Salt my wounds, chlorine my eyes
I'm a self-destructive fool
I'm a self-destructive fool
This summer I did the backstroke
And you know that that's not all
I did the breaststroke and the butterfly
And the old Australian crawl
The old Australian crawl
This summer I swam in a public place
And a reservoir to boot
At the latter I was informal
At the former I wore my suit
I wore my swimming suit, yeah
This summer I did swan dives
And jackknives for you all
And once when you weren't looking
I did a cannonball
Did a cannonball
This summer I went swimming
This summer I might have drowned
But I held my breath and I kicked my feet
And I moved my arms around
Moved my arms around
So damn good. Got introduced to your music after seeing Night Walks opening for Molly Sarle over the weekend.
We all know the original artist and what an awesome song this is but I've never heard anybody do a cover as nice as this one.

(Denmark) One For Each 🌹🌹🌹
Just one thing - it wasn't written by Loudon Wainwright. It was written by Peter Blegvad. But awesome performance.
NikiArrowsmith I think you are mistaken about that. I had always thought LWIII wrote it because it was on several albums and it his certainly his style. I google searched and got confirmation he wrote it. Do you have some other info?
@@danlevay5657 yes, I apologize, I am mistaken. The song I was thinking of that was written by Peter, but performed by Loudon, was "Daughter"
NikiArrowsmith I did not know that Peter B wrote Daughter. I am so used to thinking LWIII wrote everything he sings that fact would have escaped me. Thanks.
@@nikiarrowsmith peter wrote a song called swim perhaps that caused the confusion
Love love it!
