I’ve had one of these for a few years now. It’s a pig to start but once it’s going it cuts through everything I throw at it. I’ll figure out the starting problem one day🙂 Thanks for the video.
Hell yeah. Love it Dan!! Good work brother. They are smooth runners and reliable. What was wrong with it? I know you’d said maybe it was blown up before, what did you end up having to do to get er goin!? She runs great!!
Thanks Tim, it turns out the starter was just stiff and gunked up with sawdust, Piston was excellent! Just cleaned her up and She fired right up! Appreciate you man!😊
Funny you should ask Brian, I never used to do it, but I've been watching Rich, the Chainsaw guys old videos and he always did that and others do to. On saws with spring loaded starter pawls it supposedly reduces the chances of it kicking back and breaking the pawls or rope....The newer stihl saws like this one has a different starter design that really dosen't make a difference but it's sort of a habit now I guess....lol😊
Should be a decent saw. I always found that 310 or closely related sized Stihls to be a strange offering. Just not that much more in displacement (2.5cc) or power (.2 hp) than the 290 Farm Boss.
@@KainKustomGarage pop off that muffler deflector and open up that can muffler outlet a bit. Slight retune on the carb and she’ll wake up nicely. I did that in my 290 and I like the results. I’ll tag ya on that insta post.
Motorsäge means literally "Motor Saw". Kettensäge is literally "Chains Saw". Don't know why they pluralized chain. And "säge" is pronounced "zega". Most Germans say Kettensäga. I have very rough German speaking skills, but my wife is from Berlin.
Great saw! My little MS170 wants to be a MS310 when it grows up!
Thanks Chris! 🤣🤣

I love all the Stihls I have. They are great saws. My first one was a Ms250. I have used and abused that saw way past what it is ment to do.
Motorsäge! I can't that out of my head now....🤪
If you need safety chain on a chainsaw, you probably should not be using one! I like that saw!
I know right! I was trying to be polite...🤣🤣
I dig it!
Good saws. Why do you always pull on the starter when you kill a saw?
Funny you should ask Brian, I never used to do it, but I've been watching Rich, the Chainsaw guys old videos and he always did that and others do to. You said it had a 3/8 chain what grind ? Square cut or round ?
Square cut Sir...😊

For sure man! Yeah that is interesting...🤔😊
But that 310 looks like a runner. I’d probably snag one if if I stumbled across one for sale locally. Can’t help myself…😂

I agree , get rid of the safety chain
For sure Mark!😉

Ahh I see, Very interesting! Seems to be a good solid saw, they thought it was burned up but it was just the starter that was all gunked up....😆
Cool saw doesn’t suit u tho!
I know right! I figured I'd try it out since I was working on it..🤪
