My family has a long standing home owners insurance contract with Travelers insurance company. I was awarded POA of my father and mother affairs, my parents needed roof work done on the house. The insurance company gave me such a run around with taking care of the roof repair. After my father passed they agreed to cut the check for repairs. After burial of father I went ahead and paid for the roof repair out of pocket and would reimburse myself when the check came. A month after the repairs my mother passed, then the check arrived. The insurance company sent the check, I noticed that the check had my father first and last name then my mom first and last name, separated by nothing but space, I called the insurance company and asked to make the check out to me, or the estate. They said they can only make the check out to the policy holder the way it is was written on the policy. So, I can't deposit the check in either of their estate accounts. Do you or anyone 🤔 have any 💡 ideas on what I can do or be done?
What happens if the name on the check is only directed to one person and the person signed the check but under another person mistakenly signed the check. What can be done at this point for the rifle owner to check out that check
What if your attorney want you to sign a release, but don’t want to give you a settlement statement or let you sign the check, he said once the release is signed, the check comes and he’ll give me the information later
Then you will still be able to write as necessary as long as you stay around that line, there is nothing saying you can't write below the line and you stay around the top 1/4 of the check but still check with your bank or credit union.
@paymentsprofessor i have a stimulus check with me and my wife name on it but she doesn't have a bank account, if we both sign the back of the check could I deposit the check into my bank account, even though its not a joint account??
@@PaymentsProfessor I HAVE A bank PNC ACCOUNT now. I just opened a bank account this year 2021. last year my bank account closed due the pandemic. Both names are signed on the back of the check me and my wife so I should be ok to deposit right. 👌

If John Doe takes a check made out to multiple payees John doe AND Jane Doe AND Insurance company Doe and John Doe endorses it then has a friend endorse it in lieu of Jane Doe and simply ignores Insurance Company Doe, deposits it electronically in someone elses bank account to recieve 43,000, has John Doe broken a law? If you know what that law is please tell me. It seems very obscure.
Difficult to say if laws were broken; with checks, it is more a case of who becomes liable if there is a dispute. If the check said AND and only one party signed, then whoever took the check MAY be liable for the amount of the check and possibly any damages, but it is best to get legal advice from your attorney to know for sure.
My husband on ventilator he has a check from work..can wife deposit his check into his account without his signature..he is sedated..he cannot endorse check..he is on ventilator..I am the wife..we talked about some things when he was in hospital before he had to go on ventilator..we did not expect him to go on ventilator..he will be getting another check from work as well for cashed out vacation days..but now he is on ventilator and somehow I have to deposit them in his bank account..we have a joint account.but I still have to deposit his checks..can i.write on back of check for deposit only.without his signature..i.wish he was out of hospital
If the two of you go to your bank or her bank together they will tell you how they want it endorsed but most likely you will in need just endorse it pay to the order of _______ but do what they tell you

You may need to seek legal advice to get this one resolved.

Same as you would a business check.
The same rules apply. The endorsement is the same for business, government, and personal checks.

If you both sign then yes you should be able to deposit it to your account. Ask your bank how they would like it endorsed and they will help you.

Probably need to consult an attorney and get a Power of Attorney that would allow you to take control of finances.
