I respect all your tips, Randy. I love, LOVE, fishing a wacky rigged senko. So much so that I feel bad for my other rods/reels.
It's been my experience that o-rings are the way to go. The bait sort of slides up the line somehow after I catch a fish and I seem to get more mileage out of them that way (senkos are about as durable as cotton candy).
Green pumpkin tipped in chartreuse 💯
And oh man, the side hooked texas rig! Brilliant!!Keep up the good work!!

In the late 1960's & 70's, during the "heyday" of world class bass fishing on Toledo Bend and Sam Rayburn in east Texas, rigging the hook into soft plastic lures, like you demonstrated, was in the was my dad (a guide on T-Bend & Rayburn for 20+ yrs.) always referred to as "skin hooking" the worm. I still do it at times & back then it was the ONLY way we rigged worms and lizards. In the early years we only used 2 brands of worms, Creme - maker of the Scoundrel & a name that will bring back a lot of memories & still a popular manufacturer of soft plastic worms and lizards- "FLIPTAIL"! Creme & Fliptail are both still in business. Great channel Randy. Charter member/subscriber.

I'll have to give that perch color senko this year on the bay of quinte. That's one of the main forages here. I've always done well on the white/silver salt n pepper dingers with a 1/4oz weedless wacky hook. I can cover a bit for water and it's still finessy enough. The way a 5" dinger undulates on a 1/4oz on the downfall is deadly. I always get beginners going on this setup because it's pretty simple to fish. Wait for that tick in the line and set em

I'm 100% with you on using a straight shank on wacky rigs, it's the only wat to go. I use Brent Ehler's Gamakatsu g-finesse wacky hook. It's a straight shank g-finesse version of Gamakatsu's B10S hook.

@@jimk4267 No problem. They're not cheap though, but the B10S hook is pretty cheap. I used the B10S for years and would tie up wire weed guards on them, but there is a g-finesse weedless model. To me the price is worth taking time to tie on guards. The B10S is stouter than it's g-finesse version.

Another riggin suggestion worth trying for wacky rigging. 3/8" clear heat shrink, cut in a 1/4" - 3/8" length, placed over the "egg sack" of the worm. place hook through the shrink wrap. For, myself, the action is not effected and the stick worm lasts an incredibly long time . Even after multiple catches.

Off the subject, but maybe to combat the age of electronics and live scope, tournaments and conservation need to up the size of keeper bass. This could also help some what during the spawning season.

Good video! I think I need to try out the shakey heads more. I also am not a fan of the o ring system. And I question my own color system now lol I read a study somewhere that said bass can see greens and reds really well so those are the colors I always throw. I been throwing this tomato color I found that is like part orange and part green but it's not like split in half the inside is orange and the outside is like a see through green.. pretty sharp looking color. And last year I caught my biggest bass of the season with a bright hunting orange trick worm lol everyone laughed at me in my club and I destroyed them all with it! I also see some other pros throwing pink worms whacky style. Thanks for the video Randy! Always love starting my day out with something to think about!

Hey Randy I love your videos bud and really appreciate your knowledge. I have a question for you. I live in Pasco county Florida and fish a lot out of the lake in my backyard. Last month which was July off 2022 I caught 90 bass on the zoom trick worm on a Texas rig with a 3/0 gamakatsu worm hook. For some reason they love that red bug color in my lake. I have tried every other color and caught fish on them, but I was wondering if you know why they like that red bug color so much. The water is pretty clear and isn’t real deep, there isn’t a lot of cover but there is ledges and drop offs. I do a slow retrieve with a Twitch, Twitch pause and it works really good. My biggest out of the lake is 4.5 lbs . I was just wondering if you knew why they like that color so much?!?! I have gone through about 5 packs in the last 2 months. Thank you brother. I love the channel and figure you might know.

Randy, I subscribe to your channel and enjoy and appreciate your willingness to share secrets. I've gained a lot of good knowledge from doing so, the best one so far being how to "skinny hook" a worm. That has really increased my hook-up percentage. However, in watching so many of your videos, I sometimes "don't get the logic". An example can be seen in this video. In one section, you talk about not liking to use a wacky worm o-ring, citing several reasons, one being the "negative visual" aspect. this infers that a bass can be turned off a bite because of a tiny black circle associated with a big hook and worm. Later you state you use a certain color worm when bass are feeding on perch or shad. I can't help but ask myself if a bass can discern the unnatural look of a tiny black ring around a worm, how the heck can they NOT tell the difference between a wacky worm set-up and a perch or shad?? I'm not disputing you, I'm just trying to make it work in my head! LOL
