Lagoon is my home park and so I am proud to see somebody talk about my small home park. Also Cannibal is AMAZING!!!
I love lagoon!
Me to I live in st george
Same i go almost every year this park is where I faced most of my fears and learned that life is only as scary as you make it seem
Same I live 20 minutes away from Lagoon
Sa me
I'm out of roller coasters right now but I love your videos
I am going to lagoon on Saturday
I’m only about an hour away from lagoon. Went there for school this year, it was so fun. Here’s my ranking.. (keep in mind I’m not a huge fan of rollercoasters)
1. Rollercoaster
2. Bat
3. Bombora
4. Wild mouse
5. Spider
6. Jet star II
7. Colossus
8. Wicked
9. Cannibal
10. Puff
The last three I have never ridden to I’m not sure how much I would actually like them..
FYI the Wild Mouse was around in the 1980's. Idk what happened? But Lagoon took it away for quite a few yrs. Then it was all of the sudden back again. I know this for a fact. I grew up in Utah. When I was a little boy it was around and was one of my favorite rides. It always reminded me of the board game, Mouse Trap, enhanced to a people size. Then it was gone for I'd say 10 to 15 yrs. And then it was back, new and improved I guess. Rumor was that one of the carts went off the track. As the ride is made to make 1 feel like they're going to go straight off of the track before turning abruptly. Idk if this is true? I do know the ride existed and then went away for quite some time
Yeah it was wooden and garbage so they removed it. Build a new one out of steel
Bombora was literally a walk on ride when I went last week
You should do “Ranking independent parks across America video”
Yes independent parks don't get enough credit
#1: Hersheypark
After this july i should have more experience with these
Also some don’t get enough in the way of good fortune over time. Elitch Gardens for example was a former sic Flags park until, like Kentucky Kingdom, it got dumped by Six Flags after having getting its Vekoma clones. Unlike KK, Elitch Gardens was able to immediately reopen but is currently on land that the Denver city council wants to develop. They are one of the few parks to have a Light Rail station if parking is too expensive.
@@metrofilmer8894 Elitch Gardens is not a independent park
Its owned by Premier Parks
Also owned by them are Magic Springs in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Clementon Park in Clermont, NJ and My home park, Wild waves in Federal Way, Washington
It wasn't until now that I discovered that Cannibal isn't a Gerstlauer eurofighter.
It doesn't help that it looks so similar to a eurofighter
I thought that too...
Uhm... Giant brown tower... different support structure for drop... lap bars... elevator lift... looks nothing like a Gerstlauer.
@@ryan_n05 the track and train
I can see that, with the Takabisha-like drop. I thought it was a Eurofighter as well when I first saw it until I did more research on it.
You should rank every racing coaster that you’ve ridden
My name is Aidan (except it’s spelled Aiden)
my name is Aiden too
Almost all the teachers I’ve had spelled my name Aiden
My hometown park!!! My thoughts on the video..
The bat is TERRIBLE XD You're absolutely right.
Roller Coaster is one of the most classic feeling coasters I've ever ridden, I've yet to ride with the new cars and queue though!
Like you said, I probably would have had colossus higher, but that was also my first real coaster so it's higher for me.
Overall, you nailed it and I'm glad you such high praises for our "little" park.
When I was riding bat my head bonked the ENTIRE time!
Keegan W my home park to
The wooden rollercoaster was a much better and a lot scarier back when it had the classic bench seat and a simple fold down bar. As a child I remember thinking I was gonna fly out every time the coaster changed trajectory. Sadly the seats were changed and lap bars were added to make it safer shortly after a young lady fell/jumped out and died, back in the late 80's if I remember correctly.
idk I thought wild mouse was more painful, but to each their own I guess
Roller Coaster is a really great ride at Lagoon and personally I think its my second favorite(at Lagoon) due to how great it is for how old it is.
Nice list! Mine is a little similar, but also pretty different.
1. Cannibal
2. Colossus
3. Wicked
4. Roller Coaster
5. Spider
6. Jet Star II
7. Wild Mouse
8. Bombora
9. Bat
10. Puff
Same with mine, except cannibal and colossus switch. Same with jet star and Bat
Mine is same but switch wicked and colossus
I’m pretty sure the puff ride decapitated a kid
@@Xluxzx Then it would have been closed like seriously
@@Puffa_ look it up pretty sure his phone fell and he went to get it and the thing came by and us head was on the rail and he got stuck and the ride closed for a while but it wasn’t the rides fault it was the kid but idk that’s just what I was told it happened like 10 years ago or sum
You should do top 10 coasters that were made in house
Yeah
Holy cow I didn't realize that drop was 208 feet that's nuts!
If I remember right, Bombora was sort of a proof of concept before trying to build Cannibal in house. So I'm not surprised it's not very ambitious. But it is a smooth ride, which I find really nice.
I was talking to someone recently who didn't find Cannibal very impressive/intense. She didn't believe me when I told her it was one of the steepest drops in the world and other fun facts. She probably thought I was weird for knowing so much about it.
The last hang time barrel rolls on Cannibal are one of its best features! I love just going like a limp doll and letting the arms hang loose. Also worth mentioning is that those rolls are done over pools of water, then you rush past the waterfalls coming from them and get the spray. Last doing Cannibal at sunset is AMAZING!!! Coming out to the drop during a summer evening with the sky burning with color and taking in that view just before rushing down is unforgettable. Kudos to Lagoon for making sure it faced west to get that into the experience.
Cannibal has the most perfect restraints of any coaster ever. Not even a lap bar, more like a thigh tray. Lagoon can never EVER cater to the "if only it had shoulder restraints" crowd.
@Patrick Cadiz you would be in so much pain when you got off the ride.
*sarcasm intensifies*
@Patrick Cadiz forgive me. I actually have not been brought up to speed until now that the way you composed the reply you did indicates sarcasm.
@Patrick Cadiz Thanks man!
yeah they are perfect, i just hate when your on the lagoon roll it kind kills your thighs
HP here. Lagoon really needs more airtime. An RMC Raptor, a GCI woodie, or a Chance Hyper GTX would be perfect here
I’d like to see an S&S since it’s Utah.
They wouldn't get any of that. Their last two coasters have been made in house, and they are building another in house right now.
True
@@ryan_n05 Yeah, this is long term because of Primordial, but who knows. Maybe Lagoon will go all in house and make more cool rides
I Chance Hyper GTX would fit really well here except for the fact that they have 3 clones and Wicked which was built to be cloned even though it is not
Bat needs to its retrofitted with or replaced by trains with lap bars. ALL pre-2007 Vekoma SFCs NEED this!!! Flying Ace Aerial Chase sucks because of this while Dragonflyer is great because of its lap bars.
What a great review/countdown.
And I realize in watching that I have really not ridden any coaster quite like Wicked.
The vertical launch...who else does that?
@@AirtimeThrills The first time I rode Wicked, I knew nothing about the vertical launch. It was so unexpected and shocking I thought I might die. And just as I caught my breath at the slow roll over the top, I was not ready to race straight down.
It's nice to see a small regional park that is doing well and is well loved. It makes me miss my childhood in the 70s and 80s before the mega corporations took over most of the big parks. I sincerely hope that the lower cost of the new RMC coasters will help create a Renaissance of this type of park.
Lets see how primordial works into the list!
Ikr!! So excited!
RMC Cannibal
I always enjoy the spider the most. The spinning seats seem to ease the 'jerkiness' of the turns compared to other coasters. Just be sure to go in the morning though cause it always seems to be broken down in the afternoon.
Cannibal is my number 1 bucketlist coaster
Wicked looks like an improved version of sky rocket at Kennywood
Change my mind
Wicked came first, so Sky Rocket would actually be a worse version of Wicked.
Wicked is a worse version of Sky Rocket. Too rough.
TheSpanishPotato if wicked is rough to you, go take a couple spins on the Beast or Great American Scream Machine. Wicked has a rattle, but it’s not rough.
Sophie has such a positive attitude
I went last fall here are my rankings:
1. Cannibal (My #15 Overall)
2. Colossus the Fire Dragon- Really enjoy this a lot
3. Wicked
4. Roller Coaster
5. Spider
6. Jet Star (Yes I had the unusual odd experience of riding with a stranger. And I was in front at 6'1". Hey at least I was in the front car)
7. Wild Mouse- Didn't like it nearly as much as you but it wasn't bad
8. Bombora
9. Little Puff (Didn't ride it but I would put it ahead of.....)
10. Bat- Just as bad as the ones at Carowinds and King Island.
I've gone to Lagoon 3 times so far since they reopened this year to reride all of the rides (except Jet Star 2 cause it's not a social distance friendly ride). I agree with most of your list, completely forgot how bad of a coaster the Bat was. This park has tons of room for expansion and hopefully another thrill coaster will be on the way soon! Though due to their recent tendency to make coasters inhouse (Much of Primordial was designed inhouse too), not sure if we'll get a major manufacturer to build something out here soon. That said, Cannibal is one of my all time favorite coasters, so if they keep this up, I don't think I'll have much room to complain.
Like that profile pic.
@@DoswarePictures Thanks ^^
When did they re-open??? My mom was wondering that for a while
@@Grass_404 They reopened back in May. They've gotten a little stricter on their mask policies, though, so definitely check out their website and read through their guidelines before visiting.
Just got back from trip. Lagoon was part of it and the coasters are great. Clean family atmosphere. It was cool riding Jet Star 2 as it was that exact same coaster I rode as a 10 year old at the world's fair in '74. They take great care of their coasters there at Lagoon. So cool that they keep adding to the list of rides.
Ranking the rides at sesame place can we make it happen
Not just the coasters, eh? Go figure, there’s only two coasters.
My home park. I live so close that I could see my house from the video.
I just went on Monday and primordials mountain is lookin real good!
Ayyy, an Airtime Thrills video! I love every single one of your uploads, man. 👍
Well we all know Cannibal is gonna be 1 and wicked is gonna be 2
I knew that and that Puff would be number 10.
Wicked should have been #20. That thing has basically a B&M rattle, but 10x worse. Even worse than Fury after a full day.
Would love to see this for Busch Gardens Tampa! (post Iron Gwazi, obviously)
Spoiler Alert: IG will be number one while Air Grover will be at the bottom.
The timing though me and my friend are planning a trip there end of July any tips?
Get there at opening. when I went on June 16th, lines are dead until around 11:30AM. We were the only ones in line on Spider and Roller Coaster.
NitroVersed alright yeah I plan on staying from opening to closing on July 25th
Try to go there on Sunday, when all the Mormons will be at church.
@@connerboswell How long were the lines?
Front Row Coasters they are a lot longer than when I went on May 31st, it was about 10 to 20 mins for Roller coaster and longer for Spider. Collosus was out of the entrance but all of the rides have an 8 foot distance mark
In house coasters seem to have a good chance of being decent. Probably because the price is way lower for doing it yourself so you can just have some insane design drawn up and make it yourself.
Could we get sohpie's top 10 bucket list rides?
More likely a top 10 coasters she has already ridden. She doesnt know much about what she hasnt ridden other than some at SFMM
I was raised on Puff the Magic Dragon!!! Also the Rollercoaster was called the White Roller Coaster until the 2015 update. I was NOT a fan of the new name.
I think the white roller coaster was an unofficial name the locals gave it
Oh , thanks for letting me know. I’m a big fan and I’m stoked you read my comment! Could you do another review of SFA? It’s my home park...
1. Cannibal
2. Primordial
3. Wicked
4. Colossus the Fire Dragon
5. Spider
6. Roller Coaster
7. Bombora
8. Jet Star 2
9. The Bat
10. Wild Mouse
11. Puff the Fire Dragon
Multi part video going through all your credits ranked.
Everyone: I wanna go to lagoon
Me: still vibing to the theme song
People call the roller coaster the white roller coaster because they used to paint it white
For me:
#1 Cannibal (seriously a 10/10 coaster imo. EVERYTHING about it is great; the elevator lift, the RIDICULOUS drop, the inversions, the lagoon roll, love that its called that, the helixes, ALL phenomenal)
#2 Colossus (I get that some may find it boring, but those nearly perfectly circular loops are SUPER intense)
#3 Wicked (criminally underrated imo. The launch isn't great, but the top hat and zero g roll are fantastic elements. I know a ton people hate the restraints, but they've honestly never bothered me)
#4 Roller Coaster (a perfect woodie, especially for it's age. Reminds me a lot of Comet at Hersheypark)
#5 Jet Star 2 (probably the most suprisingly intense coaster I've been on. Those low to the ground turns are insane)
#6 Spider (it's good for what it is, but I personally don't care much for spinning coasters)
#7 Bombora (a fantastic family coaster, also the first roller coaster my Daughter ever went on 😀)
#8 Wild Mouse (I've been on it several times, and I just don't see it as being anything special compared to other wild mouses)
#9 The Bat (I've been on it once and that was enough, plus it always has like an hour line for some reason)
#10 Puff (I've actually never been on it tbh)
I'm soooooooo grateful that you've bothered to give Lagoon the attention it deserves btw. It may be the single most underrated amusement park in the US.
Who had the baby with colossus? Cannibal, nah he would eat the baby. Ummmmm dragon mountain. Ooooohhhh ok
With a wild mouse. That's why the baby ended up so small.
Oggy3000 oh yeah that would make sense
Not related to this comment but what’s the difference between positive g forces and negative g forces
@@goodnightworld9026, positive gs push you into your seat like on a B&M invert, negative gs are airtime aka forces that push you up out of your seat like on a RMC speed hill or a B&M Hyper Camleback.
Once there was a creature called the wicked bat. Also known as Puff or colossus, He is known for being like a very wild mouse. He is a cannibal which causes him to go for a roller coaster of emotions. And he lives in the small area called bombora which was as small as a spider. He was deemed the title of the second jet star.
They do cringey but I had to do it. Let me know what is missed!
spider and jet star 2
Why must you terroride the comment section like that
6:37 that flinch lol
I worked on this ride and my favorite part of working it was waiting for the train to go flying passed and make people jump
As a Utah native, the best warm up and cool down ride in my opinion is the roller coaster, because when you ride it at night, lights turn on on the coaster and it’s just a good ride to start with..it’s what me and my mom do all the time
You should definitely continue making videos where you rank coasters at a park! Very entertaining and informational! Great job!
I want to, but just need more footage from these parks. Will definitely get that this summer
@@AirtimeThrills Awesome!
Cannibal looks like something Gerstlauer would build and the track looks like an Intamin coaster.
Neither Intamin or Gerstlauer use Track as large of a gauge and rail diameter as Cannibal.
Can you do a top 10 coasters video for Carowinds next?
After my next visit there, id love to get more footage
Even the poor kids can't get away from terrible vekoma restraints from the mid 2000s
I always thought cannibal was built by gerstlauer
You could say the same thing about Wicked. They both look like eurofighters/infinities.
If you look closely at the ride layouts and the ride's support structures, you can tell that they aren't Gerstlauer. Also, with Cannibal's drop, Gerstlauer would have done a holding brake before the drop, but Cannibal has flat track where the hold would be.
TheSpanishPotato ok. That clears some confusion
I'm a Utah local and I don't see anyone talking about Samurai or Rocket! I guess because they're rides and not coasters. Oh well, here would be my list:
1. Cannibal
2. Colassus
3. Wicked
4. Samurai
5. Roller Coaster
6. Rocket
7. Spider
8. Bat
9. Wild Mouse
10. Bambora
Yo! Just barely realized you ranked Colossus above Jet Star in this one, when on your Top 10 Schwarzkopfs, you had them reversed. What changed?
My ranking is:
1. Cannibal
2. Spider
3. Colossus
4. Wicked
5. BomBora
6. Roller Coaster
7. Wild Mouse
8. Puff
9. The Bat
10. Jet Star 2
Tbh I love Jet Star 2 it's one of my favorite rides at lagoon
Can you please do a Knotts list, that’d be like Lagoon, plus home park pride!
Knotts is something i can do for sure
I can agree with the bat, I found it amazing, but my nipples hurt after it…
The only reason I'm watching this is because I'm going to Lagoon in a couple of days and I can't wait to go
you can't stop watching lagoon videos when you are going to lagoon in a few days
I could be wrong but I am pretty sure Bombora was actually designed by Dal Freeman who is the head engineer at Lagoon. Art engineering did the trains. This a great video though!
Can’t get enough of these videos...and this is my home park!
Same!
Same!
@@christaylor2288 👍🙃
Yay early! Btw keep up the great work!
Next time you go on cannibal on the front row, before you go on the drop, lean forward on your seat hugging the lap bar with you head facing forward. When I do this, it makes that drop so much cooler.
Man lifting my hands up the first time i rode it made my hearth sink!!. Felt unreal especially in the front seat!! Adrenaline was pumping and it was raining so the ride felt even more intense.
Lagoon should be a manufacturer as well lol
Cannibal is one of my personal favorite rides considering it's a hometown ride for me and the fact that it is built in-house is insane. When I watched this video for the first time I was proud to know my hometown park held a record.
Im going there on June 25
Don't forget your mask! They are now enforcing stricter mask wearing policies.
Cannibal looks amazing
It is.
I get extremely anxious when I ride rides, I know that I'm more likely to trip and die in the park but, i just can't get over it. I really need help.
Lagoon isn't in the middle of nowhere, LOL. 😆 SLC is just a 18 minute drive south of Farmington. I guess you have a different definition than me on the "middle of Nowhere," LOL. 🤣
Honestly wicked's lapbars hurt to much for me since im a bony guy, and even near the end when it lets up an inch, im still feeling pinched by the bar.
I don't think you highlighted well enough one of the factors of the wooden roller-coaster (or 'white' roller-coaster as some call) over other wooden coasters.... its over 100 years old...I have never had the feeling of a ride that could just break on me at any moment lol and you can just feel the class of the coaster in its sluggish opening lift and nonbanked turns as a design product of its time. Truly an odd experience that I haven't felt in any other wooden coaster.
Ya I noticed those features of the spider, I think the theming and red/black color scheme really push it above other spinning coasters and there is something that makes it feel faster, smoother and more intense even though I have ridden other coasters with the exact same layout.
I was really impressed by cannibals as I didn't really think lagoon was capable of producing great, modern roller-coasters and they managed to do it all in-house. Definitely worthy of #1.
Overall Lagoon is a strange park with an interesting layout that features bog standard rides that dont impress to some downright amazing experiences, I think their rattle-snake rapids, terror-ride, flying aces, the actual namesakes lagoon that greatly enhances 3 of their attractions and their lift that takes you from one side of the park to the other and actually saves time and energy are noticeable features of the park.
While rattlesnake rapids is not a roller coaster I love the thing
LOL I JUST LEFT LAGOON AN HR AGO! So, before I even watch this::
Cannibal
Wicked
Fire Dragon
Everything else. /end ranking
I've lived in Utah for ALMOST my entire 10 years of life. Lagoon has been the ONLY roller-coaster park here, plus other attractions!! I'm going there for my birthday (Apr 1st) when they open in may.
(Edit) I AM SO DUMB IM GOIN MARCH 21ST
5:47, lol, look at the kid getting scared to the left
Lagoon is one of my bucket list parks.
Bro Puff the fire dragon is lit bro shoulda got 1st place
LMAO THIS COMMENT
Just went yesterday! Super fun park!
I remember when Lagoon started building Cannibal and driving south bound on the interstate and just seeing that tower. Everyone I knew was talking about it, we saw the tower go up and since it was in-house, here in the empty quarter nobody could find something out. So the Coaster opened and right at the start of summer my buddy and I went, first day, did not disappoint it was nuts.
I believe silver streak at Canada’s wonderland has a lap bar
Rode it last year and it had the vest I’m pretty sure. I’m guessing he probably went before the vests were added
@@TN-wv6ok Nope. It has lap bars. It's basically like the B&M Vest without the vest part.
Silver Streak, based on my pics, has the very wide set yellow OTSR that dont come near your head
That Spokane pronunciation tho
Yeah i heard it too
Am I the only one who liked the wild mouse coaster but hates it at the same time because the brakes at the end hurt
Reeèeee a ranking video :)
I live here so seeing a top ten of my favorite park is awesome
Great job on the video. Have never gone to lagoon despite residing in Colorado. Love how the jokers green/purple is cool. Keep Up The Great Work and Stay Safe
I live in Federal Way Washington but I went to utah and Lagoon last weekend and 2 weeks ago on the opening weekend
Cannibal is in my top 10 (#9)for now, very impressive and unique experience
I feel like Airtime Thrills is taking over for the best coaster nerd world you tube channel
I appreciate the constant content
Coaster studios who?
I'll accept the title of best coaster nerd
@@AirtimeThrills aren't we all coaster nerds on here?
Headed to dollywood and carowinds mid august
Definitely do more of these videos
This is very unexpected. Never though you would do a ranking of this park. Looks fun though
what about Adventureland has a spider model ]:
Very disappointed he didn't say, "Let's do the time warp again."
Lagoon has been my home park since i was a kid, and it's seriously been improving almost the entire time i've grown up in the Utah valley. Fun park for all age groups, 2 very cool dark ride haunted houses, and a really neat Pioneer Village section if you want to explore the rich history of the park itself. Seriously, definitely don't overlook Lagoon if you're passing through and looking for something to do with friends or family.
thhe slap chop is the greatest thing EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
I got more airtime with the old trains on the rollercoaster
Great video 👍 14:05 I always presumed that gerstlauer built cannibal 😂 I’m shocked
Just spend some time on RCDB, you'll be shocked.
Oldy, but still the best: COLOSSUS. TOP 1.
I haven't ridden a Maurer spinner (just Gerst), but it still pains me to see a spinner ranked above a classic Schwarzkopf looper. I do get it on not digging positives as much, but I tend to appreciate the way Schwarzkopf designs deliver them. Really have to hand it to Lagoon for Cannibal though, it's incredible that they were able to pull that off as an in-house design.
I can’t put a statement on that as I haven’t ridden a spinner or a Schwarzkopf despite having been to Nickelodeon Universe (MoA), Magic Mountain, and Knotts.
I think we can all agree on something, Chris is the best coaster UA-camr
Great video as always even though colossus at 5 was completely assisnine. My top 10
1. Cannibal
2. Colossus
3. Wicked
4. Rollercoaster
5. Jet Star 2
6. Spider
7. Wild mouse
8. Bombora
9. The Bat
10. Puff
I hope to go to lagoon later this year when it opens. Cannibal looks amazing. I have dreams where I ride it. I'm weird
It's already open
It's open, but make sure to wear a mask and make a reservation, or else you may be turned away.
I wouldn't say this park is in the middle of nowhere. It's only 20 minutes from Salt Lake City and there's plenty of mountain resorts nearby (which I suppose is only important to know about in the winter time). As for The Bat, that's just another one of those Vekoma coasters that needs the same restraints found on rides such as Freedom Flyer at Fun Spot Orlando and Dragonflier at Dollywood. I wonder why Kings Island, Carowinds, Canada's Wonderland, Wild Adventures and Legoland Florida haven't done that to their rides yet.
My guess is that those parks are busy doing other things. Although I would update those and also the SLC trains as well.
By middle of nowhere I was talking more in coaster terms. It is really close to the airport
