Just so good! I feel like I was robbed in my Art History classes. Hilma should have been right up front. Her work is perfection.
I had not heard of her, despite a degree in history of art and having worked at one of the largest museums and galleries in the UK, the Ashmolean in Oxford, many years ago. I should also say that my husbands family established Spiritualism in the UK, when his great grandfather married a lady from New York and they set up home in the UK. I did not know that before we married. I, quite incidentally, was educated at a Steiner school, which had links with Spiritualism, although I maybe did not recognize that as a child, I just loved the freedom, equality, creativity of their way of thinking, with a great emphasis also on an outdoor sort of life, climbing trees and nature study whenever the weather was good outside.
Years ago. Love her work. It’s mesmerizing. Wish I’d known about her as a child. Her work has moved mine in a different direction. ❤

I discovered Hilma af Klint during my first year of art school thanks to my emo classmate who was exploring her work closely. He was a male student. However, I could only appreciate her work after visiting the ‘Forms of Life’ exhibition at Tate Modern about a week ago. I had to see it in flesh to get the vibe and I loved it.
Hilma Af Klint IS my favorite artist of all time. I love her so much, her dedication to not creating art, but documenting the world of spirit. I spent years mastering the automatic painting. Its wild, it feels like turning my brain off and turning my hands on. One of the most magnificent minds, her technique transcends the confines of human existence. More people should know her name and art
Saw this exhibition yesterday. Have wanted to see The Ten Largest for a while and they absolutely do not disappoint. Stunning

woah, i have watched archive 81 but probably missed the reference. this calls for a rewatch!
@@meikotuna I think it may have been in the ladies apartment where the armoire for the statue thing was, I think I’ll have to watch it again to be sure because she had all those like “other worldly” things in her apartment and she had like a painting in there by Hilma I promise it’s in there because I recognized it immediately!
