Bushcraft? That is such a fine chair that I am sure Grandma would like a set for her dining room. Ok, maybe not the dining room, but the front porch on the cabin for sure. What a fun project! Thanks for sharing this with us. When the apocalypse comes, I want to be neighbors with you!
You are one of the three people I credit with my continued carrying of a Swiss Army Knife. I just bought myself and my son the Farmer X alox and it hasn't tackled any project like this yet but it has whittled a few small figurines that I make for Christmas gifts.
My Grandfather made that chair design for porch chairs; he used bailing twine for the seats without the center support. He used a weaving pattern using the twine on the chair seats and skinned the bark off the wood. He made some sort of stain too, that was brown to coat the whole chair. He used green locus wood and those chairs lasted as long as I can remember.🤔😅😂 Fun seeing your chair building project!
THAT was **SPECTACULAR** !! From when you had all the bits and pieces cut and collected at the start of the video, it looks like the rest only took you a couple hours or more - and the finished project was very impressive! I'd even use such furniture in an apartment! Thanks for this, Felix! 😁
I've recently used the saw on my Hiker, they are super useful for so many bushcraft projects,, Fantastic chair Felix,, thank you for showing us this one,, 👍👍🔪
Hallo Felix. 😁 Mach weiter so tolle Videos! LG aus Österreich
@@FelixImmler -- A lot of old time chairmakers in Appalachia (my part of the world) use blind mortises when making chairs like this. The difference in moisture content really locks the joints and they don't need wedges.
The orientation of the dry wood/green wood is important. As wood doesn’t grow perfectly round. The way you orient the shapes is critical to whether the joints will shrink tight.
I have four chaires like this in my house, my great-grandfather made them in 1912!! They are still very sturdy!! I only repaired the seats in 1980, put some new gras/rope on, otherwise they are timeless 😍
Well, there you see. 😄 A workshop with tens of different machines is not always needed.🙄 IKEA now only needs to sell a manual for the chair model, then the customer has to get the raw materials themselves and a small tool set... 😂 I wish you Felix a nice weekend! 😄👍
Thanks for another interesting video. Your creativity seems to know no bounds! Have a good holiday with your family, we’ll see you when you get back. Les in UK 🇬🇧
LG Uwe
Nice chair. If I ever make one and ivite you to my house ... i'm not sure you should trust me when I say: Go ahead Felix, you cah seat on it, it's safe! Great video...I was watching you measure distances with your pocket knife and just thought: the amount of crafting you have to do until you comfortably do that...must be quite a thing
great movie again Felix. Be sure to look out for Ikea to recrute you for their special boreal furniture concept. Who would have thought that one could make a proper chair in the woods by using Victorinix tools.
So gut geworden.
Dear Felix, the chair and the timelapse-video how and while you made it, is simply great. Thank you for another masterpiece that you did create by using a Victorinox-knife, a good idea you did focus on and a lot of your personal talent and effort. Best regards from the "Jadebusen" René
Beide Klingen zugleich ausgeklappt?
the links don't take me to the drills. The inch option gives me a warning for a dangerous site. The mm link takes me to some kind of orgpsych site? Otherwise great instructional video. Great content as usual :)
Excellent, as usual Felix! I think I might have used a tip from an earlier video of yours - I'd have put in 3 or 4 hardened wooden nails into the log to stabilise the pieces while drilling. Any reason you didn't? Thanks Felix. One day when you have time could you do a video on the Hercules? I'd love to hear your opinion!
Fantastic design. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make something similar, because in Poland I can't buy the red or green version of the knife. I don't like the black variant.
Sensationell - ich bin ja so was von beeindruckt! Danke Dir dafür!!
Vielen Dank!
I get lots of questions about why a flat drill was included with this knife. Now I can point them to this video. 😀
Super... i will give you more ideas what the flat drill is good for...

Your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Felix the Cat!
Thank you very much 😺
You could make the chair sturdier by using wedges to secure cross pieces in holes similar to how a wedge secures an axe head to its handle.
I want to fin out if the shrinking greenwood legs clemp the dry crossbars enough after two weeks..

Herr Felix, I still remember that funny Viking chair you made from 3 planks. Now here you are making a full fledged chair. Amazing.
I watch you with nothing less than stupidified awe, Felix!
Thank you very much for this compliment!
"Hello UA-cam" brightens up the start to my weekend every time. you make it look so easy 😀

Magnificent effort a lot of people with a workshop would be reluctant to take that on. Bravo!

Fantastisches Projekt!! Werde ich bestimmt mit meinem Sohn nachbauen.
Danke für eine weitere Inspiration!!

Cheap folding chair from the garage alternative? Faster but lacks Felix's craftsmanship.
Great work with the Immler knife 🗡️ 👌
Thanks a lot!
nice, plus you can use the same idea to make more stuff.
absolutly... thanks a lot!!

Brilliant - a lot of work, but classic result, worthy of any British Chair Bodger Felix. (Bodger in the old definition, not the slang new one !)
