"Music heals the body and the soul" - the inscription on one of the harpsichords is especially true for Bach and a great rendition like this one.

This has is in fact been one my favorite harpsichord pieces for nearly 60 years now. Immaculate and precise play of a rather difficult oeuvre. I am totally impressed!
You shouldn't be so shy when you bow down, because in my opinion your interpretation is very close to how Bach intended it to be performed and he surely smiled at you from heaven!

Eine diskussionslos meisterhafte Bearbeitung von Bach, meisterhaft gespielt.
Die beste Einspielung, die ich bisher gehört habe, weil:
- vier wirklich verschiedenartige Cembali mit verschiedenartigem Klang gebraucht werden
- die vier Instrumente mit Abstand zueinander aufgestellt sind, was der Dreidimensionalität des Klangs zu Gute kommt
- ohne Orchester gespielt wird und somit die Cembali besser identifizierbar sind und folglich auch die Strukturen des Werkes besser hörbar werden
- die Interpretinnen und der Interpret mit Verve dabei sind, Mut zu Verzierungen und Lebendigkeit haben, Risiko eingehen und ihre Instrumente bis zum Rand des Möglichen herausfordern
Ocasionalmente hay grupos que tocan este concierto con fortepianos y clavecinistas para darle más contraste entre los 4 instrumentos.
Damn this goes deep trough my spine and it feels like my brain is reïncarnated from the rennaisance. Everytime i play these kind of pieces it takes me back to that time. Its like a mental journey over and over again.

Bach's arrangement of Vivaldi's concerto for four violins in B minor RV580. Almost totally faithful to its original content. Bach cleverly places the viola and cello parts into the left hand of one of the harpsichord parts so nothing is lost in the transcription.
Absolutely enthralling piece played very well fully embellished without the strings. This has got to be one of my favorite performances of this Bach Werk!

All I know is that Stravinsky was accused of borrowing from Bach with the Dumbarton Oaks concerto. His response: Bach did plenty of borrowing himself.

Great interpretation, but in particular the tempo is marvelous. It's amazing how much can change with few pbm more or less. And given the sharp transients it's important that the tempo is clockwork. It is. Fantastic video, thank you for giving us this music!

I prefer a slightly faster tempo in the opening Allegro, but the other two movements are marvelous. However something oddly mystifying is the disappearance of the orchestra. I prefer, especially the last movement, to be played with the violins' counterpoint and continuo basso. My personal favorite recording of this is by the Netherlands Bach Society:

But, obviously this one is a close second--way ahead of any piano recording that just drags in the Allegro and Presto.

No debió quitar las cuerdas, pues la obra original se acompaña con cuerdas, pues los cuatro claves eran los cuatro violines solistas de la obra original y las cuerdas formaban parte del Ritornello.
Bach transcribio algunas obras de Vivaldi y otros autores del barroco a modo de ejercicio, pero al citar al autor en la partitura fue recién conocido Vivaldi, olvidado durante casi 200 años.
Gracias a Bach, hoy conocemos al Vivaldi que tanto admiro en su tiempo.

BWV 1065 is by Bach, based on Vivaldi's RV 580. The original was not for 4 harpsichords.

Improved by Bach ..he made the harmonies much denser, and the fact that no orchestra is needed answers the question.

Some people thoroughly enjoy the subtle delays these performers employed and the ever slight changes in time and tempo yet their execution of performing in unison and rhythm was virtually flawless which is unique to THIS performance and should be enjoyed as such. So you do you and keep on hating. As for me and many others I'll continue to re watch this video and enjoy it immensely each and every time. Poser
No discuto el hecho de que sin la orquesta se escuchan más nítidos y mejor los cuatro clavecines.
Sin embargo es probable que pocos de nosotros extrañemos a la orquesta del concierto original porque todos hemos escuchado este concierto múltiples veces y nuestro cerebro añade mentalmente el acompañamiento sin que nosotros nos percatemos. Para alguien que no conoce este concierto si es necesaria la orquesta la primera vez.
