Love that. Wish I had one of those bad boys. But I don’t have the storage space. So I usually just do very small sections at a time.

New sub here. I have a KBG lawn that I like to keep very short. Does that multipurpose sand have larger pepples it? I like to reel mow part of the year and larger pepples would not work out well for me.

Yes, sir it does have larger grains. for someone like you I would highly recommend; actually only recommend silica sand. It is extremely fine in particle size. I would only use that and nothing else. You can get this at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Just make sure to please get one of those bad ass respirator masks. You don’t wanna breathe that stuff in.

I have used black cow, and end up with lots of weeds from the mix.

Heads up black kow is super high in nutrients so yes, if you have weed seeds in your lawn existing, you will see growth. Have you tried using any type of post emergent when you throw down your topsoil or your compost over the lawn? Is your lawn established already that you’re just adding compost or topsoil if so, throw down some post emergent. Are you just trying to level your lawn or are you also filling in thin or dead spots if you’re just trying to level, stick with sand only and then throw some micro nutrients in there when you put the sand in there such as RGS. Sometimes when I’m filling in thin spots, I’ll throw topsoil or compost over it raking in and then give it a little spritz of some post emergent to ensure no weed growth.

I removed all weeds and grass in a 20x20 area, cultivated, racked, mixed black cow in with top soil with centipede seed
Watered when needed, all i got was weeds from black cow that was disaponiting.

@@Kantuk391 agree, ongoing battle and story of my life as well. Sometimes I feel defeated and feel like the weeds grow better than the grass specially in those weak spots just stay strong and keep at it. My recommendation is twice a year, at least throwing down pre-emergent so spring and fall at the very least and like I said anytime you do sand or topsoil or compost spritz it a little bit with selective post emergent that is safe for the grass

I’ve been told by the builder and in the documents that I have that came with the house that it’s Floratam Saint Augustine grass.
