This feels like a more abstract situation where Freddy is being taken over. The others have already succumbed to his influence, hence why they're "asleep" and broken. Freddy still struggles, but they're getting weaker while Glitchtrap, the virus stays strong.

Now that SB is out, we know that Afton didn’t come back as Glitchtrap, but as Burntrap. Kinda sad he was more of a zombie than the energetic and playful Darktrap we have here. But yeah, I guess his comeback in a physical form was unexpected, and realistic too, as his remant is holding on by a thread to his body. But the Darktrap you gave to us in this cover, Dawko, is one of the best I could’ve imagined. That voice impression absolutely fits the character, so what can I say except… Bravo !
