  • People are always raving about their Jon Renau Carrie wigs and so I finally had to have one.... and because I just LOVE doing wig research and bringing my findings to all my sisters, when I found a second one on clearance I snapped that one up as well for the sole reason of being able to COMPARE them. Final thoughts? I love Carrie so much! This is coming from a girl who has pretty much realized that I never ever want to style hair again and so synthetics are where it is at. If you can afford to get a Carrie at some point, even if you wear synthetic most of the time, it might not be a bad idea to add her to your collection. I am a FAN!

    I do also love Carrie. I have this version, and the hand tied version and I love them both. I usually wash, and blow dry, then keep them smooth, or spiral curl them. They do keep a curl for a week or so, several wearing anyway. I guess it would depend on your hair products. But, you have to be careful not to overdo the products or the ends will be stiff. If you want to straighten her, you must blow dry her first. Give her a nice “blow out” then you can flat iron her. But, she is a very realistic looking piece. My favorite, I get a lot of compliments and people that I have not seen in a while asking if my hair has grown back already, or didn’t you loose your hair? Then they are amazed that its a wig when I show them. At work my coworkers told me to stop telling people, “they will never know if you don’t tell them.” But, I do want to tell them, it could help someone else down the road.

    Enjoyed this review. Even though I am not interested in dealing with all that comes w/human hair pieces I loved watching from start to finish because I can always learn something from each video you do. They either reinforce a lot of what I have already learned or answer questions I may have on a certain topic. Always well done & much appreciated. Oh, like them both on you.......lol, that's really not much help for you in deciding which to keep, but either one would be a great choice. 🤗❤

    Thank you so much for this in-depth review. It has been bugging me that the manufacturers and many reviewers say you should always blow dry, then straighten and curl them, as I long for the natural wave of hair, so I am glad to see that they both were wavy and beautiful. I am frustrated constantly by my synthetic JR pieces, because they are always shiny, especially when outside, and after a month or less they move from feeling fake to downright scratchy even with different conditioners and silicone sprays. I am either going to get Turn by EW or Carrie and give it a haircut. I want Turn for the simplicity, but Carrie for the realism and softness. So we'll see! We just had a major car repair, so Carrie will have to wait for a while.

    Hi Denise! Love the caramel Carrie! I am partial to reds and she just goes beautifully with your complexion. I also like that it is a tad longer and definitely fuller. I really wish more synthetic manufacturers would add more fullness to their wigs, instead of thinning them down as they lengthen them. There is nothing like a full head of hair! Looking forward to your color comparison video.

    Toffee Truffle looks so amazing on you. I am so glad you have her. I had one human hair wig years ago & had no idea how to care for her. When I washed her she tangled so bad that I just couldn't stand her. I bought her at a salon so I have no idea what brand or style. And I think she was a lower end wig because I spent only about $400. For me, I prefer the shake & go of the synthetics but your enthusiasm almost makes me want to try another human hair wig. Almost. lol

    Acrylic is great, but I jumped in for styling options. Picky on color, and my fave, doesn't lay thick on my peanut head , unlike hand tied still wiggy on me. I won't give up Acrylic either, it's pop on and go hair. Maybe Carrie will too? I'm new. I got Carrie lite and the density is perfect.. I'm waiting for my salon appt to shorten her. My Carrie has no metal, finally a wig I can wear through airport security

    I prefer the toffee truffle because it has a little more brown in it. Now I know what it looks like! Jon Renau sells several Carrie wigs some of which are Remy and some of which are not. The "plain" human hair Carrie that isn't Remy (and thereby is less expensive) has hair cuticles that run in both directions.

    I have never bought a human hair wig and probably never will. To me, it seems like it would defeat the purpose of wearing wigs. Synthetic are always styled so you don’t have to blow dry, curl, and still have it not look right (like regular hair). I love the ease of just throwing on a wig and out the door - and it always looks pretty much the same. I like these two wigs on you and I think I like the second one better because it’s a little bit curlier - and I like the color better.

    The red one (caramel ribbon) you could try to add darker roots with root spray. I think that will add dimension.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  3 роки тому

      My only issue is that root spray coats the hair and changes the texture, I don't like the way it feels at all.

      @@heywigsister You are right. I commented before trying it om my own HH wig (🤐) and you can feel the difference. I only did the part and the hairs near the front so the effect is limited but it does give a good indication on how darker roots would look.

    Excellent, excellent video!! Never even considered human hair wigs prior to watching this. Not sure you will see this since it is a year old, but how long would you say the "life" of a human hair wig might be compared to a synthetic? I see many synthetics say "3-6 months with daily wear". • @kapirk2244
      @kapirk2244 2 роки тому

      If you want her to be straight, you need to not let her air dry. Let the cap dry a bit, then use thermal protectant, and do a ‘blow out.” Then you can use a flat iron or curling iron. But, that is the trick I learned with my Carrie, both non-remy, and remy. But, do not use a lot of product, that will cause other problems, like stickiness, or stiffness. Hope I was able to help wig sisters.

    Do you do that inversion test they recommend? I’m not sure what that means. Also what’s a return hair? Thanks Denise!

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  2 роки тому

      I'm not sure what the inversion test is.... do you remember where you saw it? As for a return hair- those are the little short pieces that can sometimes stick up on the top of the wig.... they are more common in Human Hair wigs, especially hand tied ones. Think about what happens with thread when you are sewing... when you get to the end you have to tie off the thread so it will not unravel... you usually cut off the shorter end but on wigs with TONS of "thread" so to speak, they can't cut the shorter pieces off on all of them and so some can stick up as return hairs. Does that makes sense?

    Hi. I'm looking for a color match for Jon renau Alia wig in 8rh14. I'm looking to buy a Jon Renau Carrie human hair wig and I DO NOT want any Red!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  2 роки тому

      From what I am gathering it is very hard to find a human hair wig that doesn't have any red in it. Your best bet is to get one of the JR Naturals colors and then take it to a stylist to have it custom colored. I truly that that is the only way you will get what you want. I have heard that the only wigs safe to color are the "Naturals" colors (there is an RN in the color code)- which is why that is what I recommended. You will also have to be prepared to have the wig recolored on a regular basis because human hair will oxidize after awhile and start to look brassy.

      In the human hair definitely more reddish Auburn, in regular synthetic it is more brown. I have a video where I show this color in human hair, hear friendly synthetic, and regular synthetic and they are all so different.

How the salon styles/layers will work too. The Jon Renau human is supposed to hold it's style till washing. That is so NOT my real hair.
