I used to like the sky mod for the mid song animations and the good songs
Also the difficulty level was just at my level at the time
I definitely love mid fight masses , I still love it to this day.
The funniest thing is the OG mods that were "super tough" like Tricky, Zardy, and Whitty would barely scratch normal mode of some mods today.

Out of the thousands of mods that have been made, no mod has gotten closer to the fnf/phantoms art style than banbuds. Every other mod gets it super close sometimes but banbuds matched it PERFECTLY with his mods like tricky and hypno

Garcello holds a place in my favorite fnf mods.
It was the first mod that (in my opinion), proved that a good mod doesn't need to have hard charting, i remember mods that were getting popular were all hard, and garcello hopped in and said: "yeah no, im chill". Just easy charting with really good music and a cool chill character, simple but very good.
And also because i discovered atsuover through it, she makes hella good music, garcello being an example.

Garcello was literally a banger back then and was my favorite, to hear that surprising "tight bars lil' man." literally made us hype up so much
Bruh hearing this as Classic FNF mods makes me feel a little old
Most of these mods ended up getting official ports with VS Whitty Definitive Edition and Hazy River. I will say these old mods have a particular vibe which lots of the new stuff doesn't quite match with some of these just feeling like official weeks or so ingrained into the legacy of the game they may as well be. I've got a small hope that the V-Slice Funkin' update will have mod support so we can see these a lot of these old mods brought up to the new standards and be made playable years from now to far later perhaps even when the full game is actually out.

the amount of respect i felt for Speedz when he called the change in Ballistic's instrumental's is INSANE
but somehow he still didnt notice a chart that is several times better than the rest of the mod
i think tricky pointing the middle finger was a reference to Newgrounds's madness combat games

FNF infecting my YT recommendations for several months, I ignored it because its just another cartoon rhythm game I won't like. Then a thumbnail appeared with Tricky in it, then I was like 'fine, I'll see what this game is about', found out it sounds unique and better than other rhythm games and the community was cranking out mods for it.
That was a while ago, now we have things that sound as good as Vs Tree, Hotline 024, Trollge Files, Mario's Madness v2, and eventually One Shot Mania

A lot of people say that games like fnf dont compare to osu and guitar hero because of the lack on base game content, but the mods feel like a feature where you can make your own songs and share them its amazing holy!!!
I remember those days very well, as a fan of FNF on Android, I must admit that it was almost impossible to find the ported mods back then, and I had to watch the videos over and over again to feel like I was playing them, good memories.
Then in Roblox the FNF fever started and that's where I experimented with mods and etc. And thanks to that I also got to know Osu Mania 4K more thoroughly.

Atsuover's songs feel natural. They are fun to sing along to and not massive clusterfucks of noise like a lot of fnf mods.

A friend of mine compared Ballistic and Expurgation. He said that Expurgation was hard because of its gimmicks and how it distracts you, and that Ballistic is difficult because if forces you to always keep your hands on the notes, and is hard just on its own.

This game gave me SO MANY good memories. I was one of the VERY few victors of Hard mode GodEater from the shaggy mods. Man, I got so exited I was running and jumping around my house😂. I was 9 years old at the time. Talk about child prodigy, am I right? He he he.

Tricky mod brought me back to the madness fandom after forgetting it for like 3 years, and i finally have beaten the first PN game and now just need to do the 2nd one
Honestly, the mod I'd have to pick is Vs Shaggy.
Don't get me wrong, I love Tricky, Whitty and Garcello and those older mods a lot. But Scooby-Doo was a massive part of my childhood, and the full Shaggy mod has some amazing songs. Decent charting (debatable I know), and the addition of 6, 7 and 9 keys really changed up the gameplay drastically. I love the Shaggy mod so much!

Bro, all these songs remind me of the best era of my life by far. When one of the Roblox games I still play to this day was at it's most nostalgic phase of it's life, when I was still playing Terraria 1.3 on my Nintendo Switch, when I would listen to these songs on repeat on my school computer... I can barely believe some of these songs are now around 4 years old... holy shit man...
