I know this is an older vid, but great info!!
Thanks!
john i notice that the set up works also with instant trim😄😄
Yes it will. Perfectly. So you can instant trim away in any mode you want :)
Great video!
Thanks!
good stuff, I bought a TX 16s from RR with edge pre installed, Know just enough to get my quads in the air, Nice platform but over my head to fully utilitize.
I've got a lot of help on UA-cam if you want to learn: ua-cam.com/play/PLy3TC1ILJYTjqDXFB84oXVWZG14zyMYYt.html
great video very smart set up
Thanks! Hope you find it useful (even outside of use with Kopilot).
Awesome John, thank you
You're very welcome.
PS I flew two Kopilots today with this setup and it was flawless. I love this little technique.
Very helpful
Glad to help.
Nice John. These little snippets will greatly help me in tuning the Kopilot. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do!
Found your video, great explanation, thanks for taking the time to make the hobby easier. You now have a new subscriber
Welcome!
awesome tip, thanks! I was wondering what those filght mode settings were for. Works well for me on my zohd drift with the kopilot. I set FM0 with 0;0;0;0 (as standard) which applies for both RTH (which dosnt care anyways) and stabilized mode, and FM1 together with the switch for manual mode and 1;1;1;1. now I can trim the manual and stabilzed modes independently! exacly what I needed! Was not easy to figure out the settings logic though on my radiomaster pocket and its small screen haha
Great video. You can control the amount of deflectiction in stabilized mode with the gains. For most of my FPV planes like the Dart 250g, I find a setting of 10:00 or 2:00 works as a good starting point.
Correct, the pots control the gains. I keep my Dart real low like that too. Too much deflection and it oscillates badly.
@@RCVideoReviews Are you referring to the pots on the Kopilot's removable control board or are you saying you can adjust gains from pots on the radio - 'cause using the radio pots would be handy?
@@dieterweik6858 it is the pots on the removable board.
Very glad I watched this. I haven't had levelling issues on kopilot but that bonus tip about rates for stab mode was very useful, thanks.
You're very welcome.
i would love to get a copy of that config file
Excellent thanks John. Just got the little dart 250 ZOHD with copilot. Will definitely try this. 😊
It works flawlessly. Enjoy!
Great video John. More info for my brain that makes flying and Radiomaster programming more fun!
It's an amazing platform when you get to know it.
Nice one John loved the way you worked around a known problem with an easy solution .
take Care
Just love EdgeTX. Such a capable system.
Great demonstration of using Flight Modes in ETX! This could be useful as well with any model with flaps to trim out any ballooning tendencies. Thanks John!
Absolutely. You can assign the flight mode to activate with your flaps switch. Also notice there is a fade in and fade out option so you can slow the deployment/retraction of trim upon activation/deactivation of a flight mode.
Glad to help...
@@RCVideoReviews 👍
another fantastically informative video thank you
You're very welcome.
Hi John. Love this idea, Just another trick that will be very helpful for minor tweaking, Such a cool trick.Keep these tricks coming. Thanks again for all you do for our sport.
Thanks Jeff. Glad to help.
@@RCVideoReviews Well flew today in 40km winds gust with this new setup and it is awesome. Worked like a charm. Thanks again.
Hi John i love you're videos on the radiomaster tx16s you're help me a lot going from specktrum over to the radiomaster tx16s with edgetx but where have you found the 3D printet test plane it's a great way to visualize how an airplane works best regards Brian from Denmark
I didn't find it, I designed it.
it's pretty cool thanks
This is great - thanks!
You're very welcome!
Might you tell us the source of the servo test rig? Thanks for all of your video work!

Great video, thank you! Could you please share the link where i could buy or 3D print one of these bench airplane models (servo holders)? Thanks so much

Hi John'
Did you know that using kopilot with ELRS means that you cant fly manual mode because ELRS channel 5 is only 2 positions. Cheers Paul.
Not true. github.com/ExpressLRS/ExpressLRS/pull/1572
ELRS also has 6ch PWM options with channel remap. So there are plenty of ways around this issue.
Every time you add trim kopilot thinks you're moving your sticks, right way to do, it is fly manual, find trims, then do radio calibration on kopilot (hold set for 3 seconds) then kopilot takes your trims as its zero
Right way?
What makes it any more right than using capabilities in the radio that are fare less cumbersome, easy to implement, and easy to change without having to land the plane, make sure it's level, recalibrate, then take off again??? Simple configuration in the radio, and it's done.
Hey do you know how the setup is for a futaba 16iz transmitter
Sorry, no. I don't have a Futaba radio.
@ 7.45...Yep it might pay to match your rates/expo settings in RTH to the Stabilized mode levels. Because, if you lose GPS lock, the Kopilot defaults to Altitude Hold Stabilized Mode. Under GPS RTH control the settings are ignored. The information on using trim settings via Flight Modes settings is greatly appreciated by us Old Foggies. 🙂
In that case just set FM2 (Stabilize Mode) to use FM0 trims or =0.
Where can I buy this servo setup model?

Great video, any chance you could post the 3D files for that setup rig with the 9g servos in it? Thanks
Thanks for the comment Steve, glad you liked the video. On the model, I'm keeping that one close to the vest as a value add of my channel. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent STLs from being reposted.
@@RCVideoReviews I like all of your videos, they are well put together. I’m sorry I thought the 3D printed rig was a common file, I had tried to search for it on other sites but drew a blank. So I thought I’d ask. Keep up the good work, and I’ll try to make something similar, do you mind if I copy the basic layout, but do it on my own cad software? I like the layout it’s nice and logical
@@RCVideoReviews Bummer on the 3d printed model. Why not maybe post it on Cults for a price and earn a bit from it?
Btw I'm really loving your vids!!! You're very detailed and I'm learning al lot of you!
Great stuff! I’ve got Kopilot on one of my Flite Test planes. Can you please share your OpenTX config file with this ‘hack’? Thanks 🙂
OpenTX will be configured in the exact same way as what you saw in the video. No difference. PS I no longer have any OpenTX radios, so I can't show OpenTX anymore.
@@RCVideoReviews sorry I meant EdgeTX. Can you please send that?
John, love the demo model you use in your videos. Are there 3D print files available to download so I could make my own? It would be fun (and handy) to have one on hand to verify my functions/mixes.
Thank you for sharing this information. You can always recalibrate the kopilot on the ground via transmitter using the sticks. But i am going to try the trimming on the flight modes. BTW, what widgets are you using on your tx16 ? Thank you again.
Yes, that's the point. You can recalibrate on the ground, but then you have to launch, test, land, calibrate until you get it right. That's basically the point. Separating out the trims like this avoids all that hassle. The widgets are Fly Me 2 the Moon Widget Pack fm2m.jimb40.com/WidgetsPack.html Here's the video: ua-cam.com/video/ZEdFj4Y0uJA/v-deo.html
Hey bro I know this post is a year old but this video ads way more confusion than necessary. All you need to do to solve this problem is #1 after you’re in the air you trim the plane in manual, land plane … #2 you can literally turn plane upside down if you want , press set button for 3 seconds to save your trim settings, you’re DONE ! #3 leave trim settings alone on the Tx and go flying, you’re finished and your plane flies level in manual and auto level ! EASY PEASY !
I need help with my koplit if you could view my last 2 uploads and help me figure out ymy wing jitters/rocks wings/ ...
You aileron gain is way too high. For these little planes you need very little gain.
Another great bit of information👍 Thanks for this video!!
