    Excellent job the one thing i would have recommended would have been is to create a channel on the side of the door and window jambs, and a space above the jam to allow for log shrinkage and settling!🙂

      @@paintman26 That's right.. let me make a video of it.. but I'm having a hard time convincing my carpenter about not needing a wooden column post at the 4 corners of the building, as it would impede the joinery of the logs at the corners.. To me, it's actually the most beautiful part of a log-house.
      I'm actually eyeing the more eye-pleasing 'saddle-notch' technique.. he's worried about the structural integrity without the wooden columns.. I told him that the dowels placed in between would actually solve that issue along with lock of the joinery (I hope I'm right).
      Also I'm actually going to use 18mm rebar for dowels.
      Oh & btw, this is completely a non-Indian architecture.. So we're still figuring it out.. He has a good experience working on Indian 'Chettinad' style homes with wooden columns & beams in court-yards.

    I have discovered and seen many technical errors when building a house. For example, with the roof, where I don't understand why there is no proper ventilation. This could have been easily done with vapour-permeable foil and a horizon layout from bottom to top and counter battens for ventilation. It would have been so easy, but this creates a situation on the roof that is conducive to condensation, which allows moisture to build up from the inside.

    • @paintman26
      @paintman26  3 місяці тому

      @nordwestbeiwest1899 I have it set up where a few vents in the gable eaves will vent the roof properly through the full length of the stringer/nailer system

      @brandenforrer2603 I believe with the moisture loss and shrinkage of the log it will offset any expansion due to temperature change and the rebar will eliminate the settling, that's my theory anyway.
