    I miss sea fishing . You and your lad sure spark enthusiasm for your respective sports which is excellent. Admit to finding the seas pretty barren the last few decades ,speaking as a casual angler . Popping down the pier on a family holiday generally doesn't produce much . Probably just me though I am heartened by river fishing these days .

    Catching a few spurs recently and the whiting are biting!i find twitching the line, especially with muppets on the hooks can encourage whiting to bite they seem to like a bit of movement. 🐟

    Great info as ever. Can you provide some tips on how you find the fish holding ground and where you decide to drop anchor? would you get the same results just drifting? Many thanks.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  7 років тому

      Probably not as the tide runs can be over 2 knots on springs so your bait would be flying over the seabed and in coloured water the fish don't get a chance to see it. Anchoring usually better .

    Hi guys love the show can I ask if you have done a video on cleaning and maintenance on saltwater reels ?
    Last time I went out off the local pier I just put my rods and reels to one side and didn't pick them up again till last week,
    Obviously they were gummed up but got better after a while .
    I looked in your how to list but couldn't see anything I think it would be a good idea for a video ?

    • @TAFishing

      We haven't yet, we've talked about it in a video but not done a full video on it. We will look into this - Mike

    Hi guys, any tips for getting past the pouting? here in France beach fishing at night seems to be crazy with pouting and they are eating everything and targeting other species such as bass or rays is proving really hard. Any tips on rigs or baits to avoid them would be fantastic!

      Seems they are running late this year.Mid November they should be in thick.Always used to be my best time for shore Cod.Next big Spring tides were the best,and the following springs in first week of December.

  • @theangrybeardfishing712
    @theangrybeardfishing712 7 років тому

    Would it be any good to put a small whiting as bait out on a second rod, if your catching loads from a harbour and know it's also a good spot for cod and bass?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  7 років тому +1

      Cod,Bass,Conger and big Rays will eat any live fish,so it makes sense to give them a try every once in a while.

    how deep were you in this video, on all the offshore fishing I have done the whiting have come up with blown out eyes from the pressure

  • @MatthiasDeuschl
    @MatthiasDeuschl 7 років тому

    Probably a dumb question but I just don’t know better: why do you have to get the cod out with the gaff or the bet? Why can’t you just pull it out on the line like the whitings? Would the line break? Would the hook tear out of the mouth?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  7 років тому

      Yes,either hook pulls or the line snaps .Net is as good as anything but mine was tangled in the holder so I grab the hand gaff which is what its there for.

    +TAFishing Any issues with cod worms?

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  7 років тому +1

      Well if there is its a bit late as we ate them !...I never noticed them in the meat,but with big foreign fish like Amberjack you can actually see the worms when you are filleting. As long as everything is cooked properly I guess its all protein. Someone out there with a Phd in worm parasites might be able to tell us.

    • @Program2live
      @Program2live 7 років тому

      hahaha, Oh well that's okay then, I've been a bit put off fish because of the worms, but if you didn't see any that makes me feel better :)

    • @supercrew63
      @supercrew63 7 років тому

      that's about the same depth i fish at when on the boat,we have countless breeds of rockfish,but my favorite target species is lingcod,and cabezon,love how that blueish meat turns the most beautiful pearl white,and has a very light taste.

    Did you put the cod back

    • @RicTic66
      @RicTic66 7 років тому

      I doubt it after Graeme used a gaff which looked like it pierced the head. A 14lb Cod would provide some nice steaks for the freezer. I would have kept that one :)

    • @TAOutdoors
      @TAOutdoors 7 років тому +3

      I'm afraid it was "TUMMY TIME" for that one .

    • @RicTic66
      @RicTic66 7 років тому

      You set a good example Graeme, I've seen you return the large majority of the sea fish you catch. And I'm guessing Cod and Whiting are your favourites to eat. I think I've only seen you take one Bass and that was for someone else. Watching your videos has ignited a spark in me to start fishing again, and I'm in the process of getting new rods, reels and bits and bobs. I get down to Dorset a fair bit and I'm really looking forward to some LRF on The Jurassic Coast, I recognise most of the marks your lad Mike fishes there. Also the river Thames/Isis is literally a 10 minute walk away from me and the size of the Perch being caught along my local stretch are Totally Awesome. Thanks for all the great info vids on knots, rigs and general stuff only crazy fishermen really understand, the vids of of you catching are inspiring but without all the info and stuff they would soon become boring. As someone wiser than me said "it's called fishing not catching" Keep up the great quality turn out. Wether it's Whiting off of West Wittering or Marlin of off Madeira you've got me hooked

      Fishing last night and the whiting were taking whole squid not much smaller than the fish themselves, hopefully the cod will eventually come in but yes live baiting whiting may be the only option this year

    Forgive my ignorance but, when catching sharks for scientific purposes, why would you want to 'gaff' them? Surely once something is 'gaffed' it dies?

    • @craigwallace4809
      @craigwallace4809 7 років тому

      jayswin2 sharks are very hardy fish think of the amount of fighting and bites a shark takes in its life cycle, I don't think a gaff will do life threatning injury to it.😃 Tight lines 👍

    • @robbieturner614
      @robbieturner614 7 років тому

      I’ve never seen anyone gaff a shark, they are tagged, but I’ve never seen one gaffed

    • @RicTic66
      @RicTic66 7 років тому

      A gaff in the fin or tail wouldn't kill a shark,

    • @TAOutdoors
      @TAOutdoors 7 років тому +1

      Its a release jaw gaff.pop the hook in then it can come aboard for measuring,tagging ,recording etc.It has no barb which has been ground off. Just a second hook really and used mostly on foreign,more frisky sharks like Blacktips and Lemons etc. I like to tag them in the water but sometimes I bring them aboard to get the hook out.
