- Beat the META returns! We are trying to win in every single Gr.3 and Gr.4 car when it isn't the strongest car! Rules are as follows;
- First race is starting with no qualification time.
- Victory must be with at least 1 A+ driver

What is Beat the META?
META means the Best Strategy so in Racing generally it means picking the best car... Sometimes it's a combination of Best Car for the Best Strategy. In this series we take a car which isn't the best (Not in the top 10 of the leaderboards) and we take on the best cars in an attempt to BEAT the META!
The point of the series is to show you don't always have to pick what everyone else picks to have fun!

Here are my thoughts on waiting up: A 5 second penalty is pretty huge. Pretty much ruins your chances in a high level lobby. Your victim is almost certain to pass you back. To me it makes sense to proceed on after the incident and if you get a penalty, continue on. If you don’t get a penalty for whatever reason, slow down (safely) and give that position back. My current tendency is to just immediately give the position back, but I’m considering doing what I described. Thoughts, Tidge?
I agree with that, in real racing you don't see drivers slow down to let the other guy past, it's racing, close racing and accidents happen.
@@InitialP_Photography but in real racing you have stewards to dish out penalties. Fair enough continue on if you get a substantial penalty and wait if you don't.
Disagree. If the person you hit goes off the track and spins, they will lose way more than the penalty time given.
It's an interesting topic and I've talked about doing both before now. ALOT of the times the penalty given isn't big enough and the position is never given back. While other times as you say 5 seconds is alot and already race over. I think for me if you drive off and take the penalty and you're still ahead maybe continue to wait for that driver to catch up. Sometimes it can be a horrible place to wait and therefore waiting would cause more crashes and so its not wise to do so. I know in this situation I said it in the video, Jack in the weekly race guide did something similar and did wait up even with the 5 second penalty.
I think it could and maybe should be a mixture of the 2. The sportsmanship video for Gran Turismo does say wait for them, but I must admit I am more inclined while writing this to wait for them at the penalty line.
Incredible driving as you get lap times equivalent to my meta car times, always appreciate your videos that continue to help me improve.
Lol tidge, I cannot believe you got lucky to win beat the meta with the BMW m3 gt3. I thought that car would be one of the hardest ones you would of had to do for beat the meta. But you did it, done and dusted, with some luck of course ;). Great video as usual.

yeah it is a shame. its one of my favorite Gr3 cars. thing drives great. sucks it's not more competitive
It's just not good on this track and other tracks with long straights and long fast corners, it's better for the tight twisty tracks and is actually very good on mount panorama except for the 2 starights along with the Alfa romeo and z4

In terms of the leaderboard how is it ordered when you have so many with 1st place finishes? Or does it not matter at all?
Just Alphabetically, it's just to show the cars that have won there's no real preference. I was tempted to do when I had done it but alphabetically allows people to find their favourite cars a bit easier
Punt to pass seems pretty much the norm in all DR categories. Lots of clean drivers but also many use the cars theyre attempting to pass as a barrier to get past. Seems more prevalent by drivers on the cusp of the different DR ratings. I often out qualify my abilty (Yarno Trulli) (Trulli train style) except many don't respect defensive driving in GT7
How does KIMI maintain an A/S rating while driving like that...?

People in this race seriously lack racecraft, I had one race where a lambo tried to push me off the track in turn 2 and then spun himself out because I had nowhere to go and turned out to him and then ended up spinning him out

The big BMW question though is........ When are we going to get a snouty GT3 in GT7? I've come round to the look of them now after watching endurance races for the past 2 years.
sometimes you just need a bit of luck and luck you deffo did tbh though kimi will always be kimi and you cant really do much about it. (should of heard the chear from me when he missed you) good job on beat the meta again next up should be altenza see how that does eventually the sillohouse is gonna be the toughest of them all to do just with that turbo lag and manual gearbox in it.

It was added back in GT Sport, but not many people use it because it’s too slow.
I've commented this before, but I honestly don't think the Silhouette will be possible on any track outside of High Speed Ring. My buddies and I like to go to HSR in Gr.3 on occasion for some good fun close and fast racing, and that is the only track where that car becomes competitive.
I think you're right, I'm half hoping for a small buff at some point. But the second High Speed Ring comes up I'm going to be racing it non stop to do it haha! Imagine the video, Race number 472, and finally I get P15.

They should disable the ability to flash the headlights... It's a bit annoying and I'm pretty sure you can't do that in real racing.
Some people do it accidently due to the location on a pad. Flashing does happen in real life though, but not as extreme as GT haha

It does count. Otherwise we have to start looking at penalty wins, or when someone goes off. Kimi tried to get me as much as anyone else and the second the race started my goal was to get by at the best opportunity I could which I did. There have been other beat the metas with weaker lobbies and such. What I didn't show in the video is I did have another victory in the BMW but it didn't have an A+, or the countless P2's/P3's I got as well.
So you actually owe the win to Kimmi. If it wasnt for him and his antics you wouldnt have gotten the win. So hi check is in the mail🤷🏼♂️😂

I had no choice in this situation (Bearing in mind what happened and results). One of the previous Beat the Metas I specifically said I didn't include a Kimi race for that very reason.
O forgot to say, PD got in touch even before I reported after watching the video and asked for the replay and looking for a pemenant ban.
You're really that upset about him featuring KIMI despite how rare he even shows up? My guy, its been at least 1 or 2 years since Kimi has been in Tidge's videos (at least it feels like it). Its not like he's going out of his way to stuff him in at every opportunity (unlike some channels, which thrive off the drama).

All due respect but I'm glad Kimi's back , dirty drivers ( especially in the B class ) has made GT7 less than fun to play and Polyphony Digital's inability or refusal to do something about dirty racing had made me walk away from GT7 , I'm hoping GT7 userbase will dwindle due to dirty racing and force PD to get off their ass and do something rather than worrying about their precious microtransactions
