I got mine removed back in October to start the process of trying for a baby. I had my Nexplanon for several years and Idk how I survived on it tbh lol. It did its job of preventing pregnancy, but my periods were a nightmare while I was on it the entire time. They went from only lasting 2-5 days to lasting 2-3 weeks, and they'd often be back-to-back as well. There were times when I felt like I was just on my periods all the time. Luckily my periods returned to normal less than a month after the Nexplanon removal! Lol
please speak up and let your provider know that you are feeling pain and discomfort. they must stop and apply more lidocaine in order for you to be numb and not feel it at all. if you do not feel like you are being heard by your provider, find a new one. it is not fair to you for your concerns to not be heard
I have a question. Not sure if u can answer out right because u are actually a licensed medical professional. But I had a partial hysterectomy in 2014 at 26 due to uterine prolapse after my mirena iud travel to the top of my uterus and perforated it. They tried to get it out vaginally but were unsuccessful so they went in laproscopically through my stomach got it out that well and I ended up with a uterine prolapse causing a lot of pain. (they left the tubes and ovaries because of my age, the ovaries need to come out now. They don't work properly. I do still get period cramps and acne just no period due to lack of uterus and cervix. Still have lots of cysts that burst and hurt.) but i cant have the surgery any time soon. I Also don't have an obgyb within 75 miles. I work from home for a hospital that isn't in my area, so my local providers are out of network. Gotta love insurance and rules but it's what I do and have for the last 6 years. I know, for now, there isn't a way around traveling that distance. I have excessive vaginal discharge, like a lot. No smell always a thick clearish white. More on the white side. Which I'm sure is yeast from living in the south and it being so humid on top of it being 95 degrees outside. I normally would be prescribed Diflucan 3x over 10 days and the other one, Flagyl 500mg 2x a day for 7-10 days depending on dr at the same time. I suffer from vaginal dryness and tried rephresh but it leaves white chunks after a day. I try not to use any douche except a medicated one about once a month before starting the medicine, nothing else especially scented stuff. But no matter what, it always seems to happen atleast once a month. I also had bariatric surgery in 2019 so I'm struggling with water and vitamin intake anyway. I reduced my dairy and hardly have any sugar at all. Any advice on how to help with the constant yeast infections (if u can give it) or vitamins to take to assist with the vaginal dryness and crazy hormones around the time I'm supposed to get my period. I've only been pregnant once and have one child at home. I breastfed for 18 months before he self weaned. 😭 he is 9 now. Until my hysterectomy, my periods were very heavy ave very irregular. I was told due to the position of my cervix and possible endometriosis that i wouldn't be able to conceive and he was def a suprise. But a blessing. I tried the patch as a tween ave the low dose camila birth control pills, maybe a few other brands to try to help regulate my peroid but it didn't help. I still would have a period for over 10 days or not at all. Now I'm constantly embarrassed by the discharge and hide my underwear when i put it in the dirty clothes the vaginal dryness is affecting me mentally. I've tried telehealth to combat the travel but they aren't willing to help because i can't exactly show them the inside of my vaginal and apparently they can't see the discharge on a dark cloth clear enough to diagnose so they aren't comfortable writng a prescription. Hey!! I think I'm on my third or fourth implant and have had no issues whenever they've been taken out but I've still always felt a bit nervous walking into the GP to get it taken out, I think its normal to be a bit nervous for sure 😊. Its easier said than done but just try to relax as much as possible and ask your Dr/nurse any questions you might have. Be open if you can still feel anything on your arm after the numbing injection. I would say I could feel almost like a tug or slight pressure when having mine removed in the past but nothing I would describe as painful! Hope it all goes well 😊😊

I really don’t understand why people get these types of birth control like wouldn’t the pills literally be much better and easier??? Idk if it’s bc I have a huge fear when it comes to these types of things like needles and blood, but I honestly feel like this kind of birth control is scary and useless because it’s cutting open your skin to put something under to prevent pregnancy like I rly don’t get that :/ I def wouldn’t be on this i’d prefer bc pills all the way
Some people forget to take the pills and therefore it not be 100% effective. It really is just based on personal preference and lifestyle. What may not appeal to you, will appeal to others!
the pills don't really do anything for me, but the nexplanon does. i use it for endometriosis and pcos as opposed to birth control but it's just so much easier and more effective, and that's coming from me who won't touch a needle with a ten foot pole
@@Lime-limee Idk about their experience, but my acne is so much better! i get occasional pimples but never bad breakouts. It can be different for everyone, but that’s my experience!
Ahhh thanks for this video! It will be a year I’ll have mine in December and I’m already nervous about that thought of getting it removed. 🥲 How long does lidocaine remain effective? Curious because I’ve heard some people have issues with the scar tissue and it taking longer to remove. 😅
I think how long the lidocaine remains effective might vary on the dosage. When I’ve had dental work done, the lidocaine lasted for the procedure and a little while after I went home as well.
@@amberdanielle3614 that makes sense! I’m just thinking back to when I had the nexplanon inserted, I didn’t feel numb for long right after. I’m glad it didn’t wear off while it was being inserted, but it was pretty quick after insertion that it subsided. 😅
I don’t work in the OBGYN field but I do work in a procedural area that uses a lot of local anesthesia. Lidocaine comes in many different concentrations and so its lasting time will differ. Regardless of this, you should always remain vocal with your provider and let them know if you’re having some feeling return. At that point, you can expect some extra lidocaine to be administered. We want to keep you comfortable!

Every body's different. Some people have adverse reactions to the pill. Nexplanon is also more effective than the pill.
@@bigpussyslayer69 hey! The thing i am worried about is getting acne and bad hormonal changes. Did you get any side effects?
@@heykelleyx Awesome, thanks for the info!❤️
I hated getting mine out it’s the worst part for me lol but love not having a period so I got it back two weeks later 🫠🫣
i had this and it got trapped into my arm bc my gyno put it in wrong and then had to get general surgery to get it out 🥲
not as relaxing but the nurse decided to play halloween music during the entire process 🤣
I recently went with my friend to get hers removed and not to scare anyone, but it made me not ever want to get the implant ever. I don't do well with scalpes and blood, it was almost me passing out not my friend who was having it removed 🥲😭
