Ti, you have the kindest, most gentle voice I’ve ever heard. Quit whatever it is you’re doing & become a professional narrator ! Great video, thanks guys.

Excellent video and narrative. Thank you for posting your journey and experiences. I will be doing a solo trip from Colorado to Tuktoyaktuk in mid June 2023. I cannot wait! If you have additional lessons learned from your journey I would like to hear them.

      Hi Greg:
I made this ride a little earlier in the season then Ti. If you're coming up from Colorado may I suggest Highway 93 at the Canadian border and north through Banff and Jasper park. HWY 97 north of Dawson Creek (start of the Alaskan hwy) is one that will provide some of the best opportunities to see varied wildlife, deer, moose, black bear, grizzly, caribou, mountain sheep and bison frequent this stretch of road up Watson lake. Not all of the gas stations that will show on your gps exist due to closures, keep an eye on your fuel. This route will also take you past the Laird Hotsprings, well worth the stop and a soak.
Anything else I can help you with drop me a line.

My takeaway is that I wanted more time- I just wanted to hike near Tombstone, wake up slow, drink espresso and soak up the mountain air for hours.

Enjoyed your journey especially the refreshing descent into the Arctic Ocean. One of my bucket list rides!

I found another 5l jerry can, and saw Itchy-boots video at Chicken, AK. Gonna see if they got burgers there too next summer!

What time of year were you up there? I made it as far as Fort McPherson in July ‘22 and well…oops. But I had crap weather. Your skies were beautiful. Nice job on your video too btw. Mines still sitting on my computer. God I hate video editing! 😂

Thank you for documenting your journey! I am planning to ride from Vancouver BC to Tuktoyaktuk some time in the future, and watching your video seals the deal! I have a question: how do you think your bikes performed on this trip? I am considering either the Strom and T7, just wondering what your opinion is on them. Cheers!

      Hi Ernesto:
I also rode to the arctic ocean and Tuk in 2022. Either bike would make it easily but I would personally go with the lighter bike. I do most of my rides solo and did this one on a DR 650. This choice is better suited should you drop the bike and have to right it by yourself. Ti seemed to hit great weather and that made their ride much nicer, where I hit the worst, from minus 5 temperatures to rain, 15cm of snow at Eagle plains and insane winds through Hurricane Alley. Best of luck. It is an epic ride.

It depends on whether your main riding is more off-road biased or street oriented. The V-Strom is a pavement street fighter and handles gravel and dirt quite well, but her low clearance is the drawback. T7 is an off-road dream.

I’ve also ridden the same route on an older BMW 650GS and had total crap weather at times. Both my bikes handle mud and slime pretty well, but honestly I’d prefer my TW200 any day when the mud gets deep.
