Hopefully for the sanity of you and the mechanics, they opt for a tier 5 bison. We have two tier 4 Bison X. Between the electrical gremlins, cracked frames, windshield wipers not hitting the windshield, tiller lift pins breaking, it’s always something. Getting past the negatives.
I typically find myself every night. Tshirt and windows open. Windows and sunroof seem to be the best climate control. As for RPM range, I run strictly foot throttle, however I typically find myself anywhere from 1200-1600rpm and use about 60-70gal in a 10 hour shift. I think the other guys run about 1500rpm. They really are great machines that get the job done, they’re just quirky…but what cat isn’t.
Yes, they are talking tier 5 for next year for the very reasons you've cited. Thanks sharing your recommendations. I did notice that this Bison drinks the fuel alot faster than the yellow BR350. I went through 60 gallons last night in 6 hours.
@@totheedge1138 yeah the bison is a thirsty beast. I chalk it up to the emissions garbage. I average about 45-47 gallons in 10 hours in a BR350. We may not be the tallest in elevation but ski traffic warrants nightly rebuilds on most trails. I’d be interested to see where I’d be fuel usage wise on a bigger mountain.
storm mode probably is a by pass for air filter in super powdery snow.

Thanks so much for watching and the great comment. They are some good old cats, I miss the sticks with the mechanical linkage, there was alot better feel on the steep downhills.
I operate a bison S like yours full time, and my favorite rpm for it is 1450 rpm. allows the machine to develop all of its torque and the tiller to do a great job no matter the conditions. If you're in a snowstorm and want to fly fast, then just floor it.

I started driving the new leitwolf x this year with the new cab and i have to say its a gamechanger compared to the older models
The new touch screen makes everything much easier to navigate, and the new joystick is really nice
Thanks for the comment! This is only a demo cat, and it sounds like we're going to get a brandnew Bison for next year. The touch screen will be a major improvement.
You said that you didn't like Pistenbully with steering wheel. Have you driven the Pistenbully with stick control? How was that?

Nice ride. Was wondering what you think about the center operator position. Back in the day I operated Thyokol/DMC/LMC cats and they were all center operator positioned. I then went to a PB and it took a little time to feel comfortable with the operators position. Kinda of like how I felt when I visited Ireland and drove a right hand drive car. Lol
I've run it two nights now, and I really llike the center operators position. The one drawback is looking behind you. From the center, you really have to crank your head around to see.
Much better. You can look behind right or left. Keep backpack in one seat and lunch box in the other with EZ access to both, not fallen down on the passenger floor.

I'm at Pebble Creek in southeast Idaho. This has been an unusually snowy winter. Normally we don't get this much.

the joystick is weird at first but you pick it up fast, I did the same thing haha
I like to run between 1500 and 1600, too low and they bog
the climate control is annoying I agree, that control in general sucks
Luckily the t4 is only a demo. I hear the t5 is much better and I think that is what were going to have next fall.
