The only reason I don't wanna like or watch digimon Is coz I grew up with pokemon and having to watch a whole new series with no kick of is gonna be hard as most of the digimon community might know waaaay more abt these digital monsters than me. Fun fact, digimon didn't steal Mon from pokemon because Mon means monsters, so pokemon means pocket monsters and I'll take a hard guess and say digimon means digital monsters

I think the main thing that's turned me off from Digimon is the evolution thing. Throw any pokemon from its evolutionary line in front of someone and it should be easy enough to figure out what it evolves from or evolves into thanks to common traits between each stage of the line, even compared to unrelated pokemon that might seem similar first-glance. For example, you can look at a Kadabra and tell that it's more likely to be related to Abra than to Drowzee or Ralts. Even connections between pokemon that *aren't* in evolutionary lines are still easy to understand. The Forces of Nature all look the same in their Incarnate forms, so they're obviously a package deal; same goes for any other designated group of pokemon. Digimon is a lot more complicated, so much so that it's very easy to get lost on your way back to finding a certain Digimon at a certain stage. The anime also never really shows the sheer variety of a single Digimon's potential evolutions. At least not beyond the one episode per entry where a protag fucks up, their partner Digivolves into the wrong 'mon, and they have to scramble to make it change back and try again later to get it "right," somehow. And yeah, some of those evolutions make ZERO sense whatsoever, the first example I can think of being Patamon and Gatomon becoming Angemon and Angewomon, respectively, with the former line being a stage down from the latter. You wouldn't be able to tell Gatomon was at a higher level than Patomon without having some way to know that beforehand, because she's a Champion who's small enough, and in that form often enough, to pass as a Rookie.
I think that's the most unique thing about Digimon and a positive not a negative. Let's not act like some people don't mess up Pokemon evolutions. If you show like Bagon, Dratini, Dragonair, Milotic, & Dragonite. There's quite a lot of people who would think Dragonair evolves into Milotic. Or that Pokemon who don't evolve would evolve into one another live Luvdisc and Alomomola. In Digimon even if it was just through getting into another line via an evolution, de-volving (Something Pokemon doesn't even have for it's mons that can cannonically do it) and then Re-Digivolves you could end up on that line. The anime maybe could do better with some mechanic or something but it's probably quite hard for them to animate all that and then still get their good story.
Digimon must be doing many things right for pokemon to straight up steal from Digimon. Their mega evos and how they do it needing a device of sort to digi.. oh sorry mega evo are almost 1:1 rip off. To be honest monster rancher is far better than pokemon.
Digimon would still exist because it was created as the male version of tamagotchi. Also, Pokémon didn’t invent the monster collecting and battling concept.

@Akko100 survive didn't have good rating because those people didnt like visual novels not because the game was bad. Most digimon fans liked the game. Frontier is mention in the card games in the games and in the pass digicons they sang the japanese opening for frontiers
@Akko100 i serched up the ratings and digimon survive has 8.0 user rating on metacritic while scarlet and violet have like a 4.0 user rating. Digimon survive has about the same amount metacritic rating at every other digimon game. Even if most digimon games are turned based they are still better than the pokemon games
The game was bad. People not liking the visual novel is only the top of the ice berg. The gameplay was not good. I have yet to see a positive Digimon Survive review that it was good. Most fans do not play the Digimon card game and it is not the main source of the franchise. This is not Yugioh.
