just to clarify a bit of what i said about boy group stans not listening to girl groups: i don’t have a problem with boy group stans not listening to girl groups. everyone is entitled to listen to the music they like to listen to and support the groups they want to support. if girl groups aren’t your taste, that’s fine.
my problem generally lies with people who claim they won’t listen to or support girl groups for flimsy reasons. and i don’t love when they make general statements that suggest girl groups are all the same. saying girl groups ‘aren’t versatile’ or that you ‘don’t like girl group concepts’ just shows me that you haven’t really seen or heard enough girl groups, that’s all 🤷🏻♀️
Omg Iysm ❤️❤️ I actually really agree about what you said on the Nct opinion about how you can’t keep up with the content tbh I feel like SM is the reason why, I don’t think that there giving there idols that much breaks and I think that they need to have a rest but same goes for WayV I think that SM needs to focus on the idols health more then of them shooting videos. Melonhead Omg yes, sometimes english versions of songs sound really cringe. I ult groups who have released questionable english versions of already released songs. Tbh i dont think the issue is the accents they have (cuz Taeyong and the rest of nct who dont speak English fluently or are native still have accents) i think its just it might spund awkward and sometimes the lyrics are not translated very well.

Like, wherever you search, either on google, yourube or any other platform, you will see that it is stated that WayV is a NCT sub-unit and that Hendery, Xiaojun and YangYang are NCT members, even though they haven't debuted under the name NCT. And that is a FACT

I agree that almost every group that debuts from a big company gets "privilege" it's sad to see that txt has been getting hate since debut for no reason
Pretty sure it's because usually when a younger group debuts from a company as a "little brother" or "little sister" group, they have a similar sound to their predecessor, but TXT is musically and conceptually really different and it gave people whiplash, they expected mini BTS but got something else that was amazing sure, but not what they expected/wanted.

Briee Bruh honestly, people are just hating them to hate them at this point. if they did anything similar to bts people would complain that they’re a carbon copy. 😭🤚 i personally like what txt is doing and i’m glad their concepts are unique and completely different from not only bts but other 4th gen groups.

My opinion: Stop caring so much about idols' sexuality. Who cares if they're straight or gay or bi or whatever, just enjoy their music, this is why they are artists and it's not our business. It's their personal life and they can do whatever they want.
exactly! whenever someone tries to make this point they're accused of being homophobic when it's the exact opposite. If an idol *is* gay then these fans are forcing them to come out of the closet and ignoring their choice of wanting to keep that part of their life private. If the idol *isn't* gay then shippers are just making them extremely uncomfortable for showing affection to their friends. Either way, being obsessed with someone else's sexuality is hella gross and the facts that it's mostly straight girls that are doing it is even worse.

I personally think shipping members romantically is weird but I will say that sometimes I like the FRIENDship between two members and I like to see their interactions with one another. I use their “ship name” but don’t really ship if you get what I mean, anyway what i’m getting at is that I love markhyuck dynamic and seeing their friendship is cute and makes me want a friend like them.

Like many others, I too believe that BTS does not have the best vocal line in the kpop industry. But they sure do have a very unique vocal line. The four guys have almost contrasting vocal colors yet their voices go very well with each other. The Truth Untold almost sent me to heaven when I first heard it XD
On the other hand (in my personal opinion) BTS rapline is one of the best out there, if not the best :)

i 100% agree although bts’s vocal line literally adds ten years to my lifespan every time i listen, i don’t think they’re the absolute best in kpop. however THE RAP LINE!!! literally incredible i do believ theyre the best rapline in my opinion. I feel like bts are more preformance haeavy than musically if that makes sense. like i love theyre songs they’re incredible and beautiful but i feel like they’re charm is more toward they’re preformance. that’s why i started liking them anyway
Agreed I think they all have unique and fresh voices that you rarely hear in other groups. They all had rap training instead of vocal training while SM groups such as NCT focuses more on vocal training, so it's understandable if NCT have better techniques

agree 100%. tbh i love imperfect but unique voices. other than bts, most of the music i listen to is indie/acoustic/alternative where the emphasis tends to be more on expressing emotion than perfect technique so i never really considered that they needed more training (unless it would be healthier of course). i really don't think singers have to have a huge range and really powerful voice as long as they are able to work with what they have. i also really like blackpink's vocals for similar reasons, especially rose and jennie.
and yes, bts rapline is untouchable.

there's a new group that debuted this year called MCND and they're all really young, their maknae is 16, and the comments in their instagram are DISGUSTING. saying stuff they wanna do to him, or pointing some parts of their body. i speak spanish too and the spanish comments said stuff about... eating.

The "privilege" thing doesn't make any sense to me. Obviously big companies have big budgets? is that news to some of y'all? Its such a weird thing to say, since TXT and BTS almost have nothing artistically in common, other than the quality of their storytelling and their banger music. People still dismiss and sleep on TXT when they're out here working their asses off, stream Eternity for clear skin 👑
the 'privilege' is kinda hard to identify but for me personally, i think it extends beyond just having a bigger budget.
i think having privilege means that they are more well known as soon as they debut just because they come from a certain company. like a lot of people checked out txt just because they were bts's brother group and that definetly boosted their popularity and wouldn't have happened if they were from some random company that no one has heard of (like bts were when they debuted). this is not to disqualify the hard work that txt have done and i do think that their artistry is so different from bts in a good way, but you can't deny that they benefitted from bts's popularity and that is a privilege not afforded to groups that don't come from more well-known companies like big hit, sm, jyp, sm, etc.
(also there's the whole concept of a company stan: people who stan all groups from a specific company just because they are in that company which is also an aspect of privilege that certain groups can recieve)

jayyone I think everyone understands that txt is privileged. But so is every other group debuting from the bigger companies. Even CRAVITY had a certain amount of privilege coming after Monsta X and they weren’t even from the Big 3...maybe it wasn’t that much, but when coming after something that’s popular there’s always going to be that privilege. So why is TXT the only one hated on massively for it. It has to be brought up all the time, and it’s annoying because they can’t really control it. It’s not TXT’s fault that other companies aren’t as big and don’t have as much popularity....
@@jayyone6137 That's pretty obvious and no one is denying that TXT is privileged. It's just that privilege has always been in the kpop industry for decades. TXT isn't the first or last group to be privileged. Yet people use privilege to discredit and hate on them. Privilege has never really been that big of a deal until TXT. Every achievement they make and anything they do, people constantly bring up privilege in a way to discredit their hardwork which they don't do to other privileged groups like Stray Kids and ITZY. People don't realize that they had to work 5x harder to get into and debut from one of the biggest and most prestigious companies in the industry. They worked for and earned that privilege. It wasn't just handed to them on a silver platter. Not sure why people are making it seem like its this big bad thing and that its only with txt. This shouldn't be used to constantly hate on the group especially when privilege is something they have no control over.
@Zhong CEO Wow I have never met a Moa who said that. Most of us are clear that we stan TXT FOR their talent and not their company. I am a Moarmy myself and I had no intentions of stanning TXT if they didn't appeal to me. It just so happens that I love their story line and the way they have no skips and the fact that every member is so musically talented and just their chill vibe. They are different from BTS and have their own thing going on and it draws me in. So if Moa are saying this then they need to re-evaluate.

The “pretty privilege” opinion reminds me of how Tzuyu from Twice gets hate because she’s ‘only a pretty face’ and that she’s ‘boring and doesn’t have a personality’. I honestly think she is so talented and so funny. I love how her voice sounds and she is really good at dancing. I don’t understand how people can say that she is only a pretty face.

It’s really sad to watch so much hate that TXT getting through,when half of the kpop groups are from pretty big companies.And no one really didn't hate them just because of their seniors,and telling that they get this or that just because they are from big company.And this people dont pay attention to their talent.it’s true that in the beginning they got a lot of attention,thanks to BTS, but as soon as they got silence for a couple of months all the fake fans disappeared. Their first comeback was not as successful as the debut, there were not so many views or comments or sales.Hype dissapeard and they began to gain their true fans. So last comeback was really successful,our fandom is growing and that's because of txt and their talents(they already start to produce and write lyrics for their albums)So that's jealous people need to shut up,its not funny anymore to sleep on txt

Yes I do agree,Txt is completely different from bts(only fact is they belong to same company). Its been already 1 and half year since their debut where they have managed to show different sides as a group. Every comeback we have seen has 3 unique MVs, different style of choreographies and also diversity in their discography. Txt should be called as Cover Kings the cover songs, dance covers which they performed on stages remains iconic. I have started appreciating them for the group they are. STAN TALENT STAN TXT♥♥

So many amazing stages.And at august 19 they will release Japanese comeback with MV for Drama and new only Japanese song. to me, romantically shipping two idols(same gender or oposite gender) is just toxic. lets take jeno and jaemin as an example. they are best friends and soulmates for living(not denying that) but seeing the two of them being romantically shipped is just so unconfortable. tbh, the ship is so big in the fandom that theres no denying that they both know abt everything that is happening. the thing that i feel is the most toxic one is guessing their sexuality just by their behaviour on camera. i, you, nor anyone knows jaemins or jenos sexuality and i think is wrong to guess it because this is a very sensitive topic not only to them, but to the whole population of the planet. aaaand fan wars start mostly because if this. some of them are 'but jeno loves jaemin' and others be like 'but youre wrong because renjun is in love with jaemin'. ive seen that shit on twitter a lot of times like making assumptions on who is in love with who. and thats on toxic fans.

I agree! My biggest pet peeve is seeing people try to guess an idol’s sexuality, or labeling idols as gay. Especially when an idol is just flamboyant, like Ten. it’s literally no one’s business except their own what their sexuality is 😤 also I get the feeling that a lot of the people doing this and shipping boy groups in particular are straight women but that’s a whole other issue.
Oof I definitely feel like they know about fans shipping them, cuz even chenle jokes about it. Have you seen the videos of him saying (in a joking way) jeno’s the dad and jaemin is the mum? A lot of fans gives them family labels (which I personally dont mind till it gets to the point where the idol is visibly uncomfortable, like Kun) romantic shipping between real people is just NOT IT. I love their friendship sm but i dont like how people make jokes about them having a “romantic relationship” im scared it might get ruined because of this..

I know visuals matter in kpop, but i hate the role. Just as you mentioned there are so many idols such as Jaehyun, Hyunjin (skz), Tzuyu (twice) and so on that are hated on by kpop fans for being a just a ‘pretty face’. These idols that i mentioned and so many more, hate being labelled as just the ‘visual’. They are so much more..
Also the visual title is so toxic, certain idols are sometimes even hated on for not fitting korean beauty standards which is really messed up. Beauty and aesthetic visuals are what make kpop unique to western music but sometimes it just gets to the point where idols are starving themselves to fit the ‘ideal’ weight. There’s definitely nothing wrong with plastic surgery but i find it so strange how common it is in Korea, maybe i just grew up differently.

Satori Matsuzaka no, i have to disagree. Labels such as ‘main dancer’ or ‘lead singer’ or ‘sub rapper’ are important to determine what role certain members have in groups. So not all labels are dumb, the only label that seems out of place is the visual label (at least in my opinion) because its basically just saying ‘this is the “prettiest” member in this group based on korean standards’ which I personally think is really stupid and isn’t necessary in a group that makes music. Visuals are important in kpop but it should rather be heavily based on the talent idols have. But you can never really change that..

Not all people just listen to their music, some of them saw their face and are interested in them. And then they listen to their music and like it. Get it? Ok i guess not. And also visual is the one who fit Korean Beauty Standard the most
Itz Melon Visuals are important in kpop i know! But the label is really unnecessary, because you can still have someone fit the beauty standards but not have a ‘visual’ title. Why do you need to have a specific role for the visual??

unpopular opinion: i don't like when people say "taste." like "you have amazing taste." it just annoys me. taste is 100% subjective and is basically just a compliment that says "you share the same opinions as me which is good"
also, adding on to the jisung opinion, i feel uncomfortable sexualizing all idols... it just feels wrong. like they're real people and i don't think they got into the industry to be thought of like that. most people have those thoughts sometimes whether intentionally or not, but i start to dislike it when they're proud of it? i'm not really sure what word to use lol

14:25 bts being my ult, i have no problem or difficulty saying that they do not have the best vocals out there. i mean, 3/4 of them did not go into the industry as vocalists so it makes sense that their vocals aren’t as strong as other groups and it doesn’t help that bighit didn’t/doesn’t provide them with many vocal lessons

@i will eat your kids yes! personally i absolutely love jin's vocals in jamais vu, that songs fits him perfectly (as well as epiphany, it's a masterpiece for sure). 134340, singularity and spring day are just three examples of songs where i think taehyung's vocals gets to shine the most. His voice definitely fits slower songs more so I'm really happy for all the solo stuff he has put out.
Jin and Jimin had a lot of vocal training which is also why they've improved the most
Honestly I really do feel like SM likes to mould their talent as crappy as they can be sometimes boy do they have great staff training their idols, like you can legit see the improvement like Ten's vocals pre SM to now, Taeyong basically having not prior experience, YangYang not really knowing how to dance ( He said he started from zero when he got chosen at his SM Taipei audition). I mean talent is undeniable but hardworking really play such a huge role. But SM really does that wish you can see the growth and development in so many of their artists across all the generations.

Ok regarding the whole txt thing I agree with you txt are “privileged” txt even agreed with it taehyun said it in a interview but the whole big 3 is like they gain their fame from being in the big agency. When txt debuted they had a whole lot of hate and they are still minors in the group and i remember taehyun talking about the amount of pressure they had and that hit hard like we really don’t know what all that shit did to them they seem happy and all but when taehyun started to talk about it he was opening up about the struggles if you want to know when he talks about it it’s on wekpop.

I'm an army and when txt debuted of course i kept an aye on them. They were cute and talented but weren't my thing ( i'm in my late 20s) so i just watched from outside. The last comeback though. Crazy, i just love every song, is completley my sound and their voices are great. Idt i will be a moa but will listen their music anyways. I think big hig did a great job dividing bts and txt image and the tuniverse is so unique. They have this spooky concept that suits them very well
honestly you can see the difference in support from crown to run away. crown has over 100 mil views with army taking interest in bts' juniors. then in run away its clear for the fans who actually stayed and took interest in txt. its like a cleansing.
This girl spitting straight FACTS. I watched both ITZY and TXT from their debut and honestly my boys had to endure a lot more. Not that ITZY had it easy either, but the kind of hate txt is receiving is unbelievable. Can you imagine there were people who said TXT is a disappointment when they were only 3mos in the biz? The expectations for them was set so impossibly high that when they fell short they were automatically branded as a failure. I do listen to other groups songs like Mamamoo, Got7, Everglow, (G)-Idle, Twice, Itzy, and other groups as well. To be honest, I am a bit picky when it comes to groups. To me (and this is my opinion) aside from the groups I currently stan, no other groups really stands out to me. Don't get me wrong, I agree that there's nothing wrong with ITZY's concept, and I want them to continue with girl crush. But they actually _don't_ have variety in their concept. Think about it - there are a million ways to portray the "heart fluttering, dugun dugun, crush on a boy" concept, just as there are a million ways to portray the "I'm confident, I love myself, girl crush" concept, but ITZY has stuck to one portrayal of that (I love myself and I don't care about other people). Compare that to Hwasa's Maria, for example, which has more of a "letter to myself," "I was hurt in the past but I'm rising above that," with a side of "social commentary." Again, I love ITZY's girl crush concept and I'd be happy if they didn't change that. But I feel they could definitely use diversity and do some different types of girl crush
I think it's the formula. Same with BP (pls no hate lmao) like they have same formula for their songs and that's how I personally see ITZY's comebacls lately. Dalla dalla was iconic. Icy was great. Then again with Wannabe. It's like, where's the switch up? They can def do so much more. :)

There are many groups that are “privileged” but it seems most only say it about TXT for some reason. If you’re from the big 3 you’re gonna be privileged, the only thing is they always have the money/talent/training to pull it off and make up for the fact that they’re privileged. Same with TXT but because they are bts’ little brother group it’s different for some reason...it really breaks my heart.

There are also a lot of good gg covers out there but sometimes it seems like the boy group members aren't taking it seriously and they don't see girl group songs as worthy of respect. Overall in the industry I think boy groups are taken more seriously as artists and girl groups are just not respected as much.

The thing about better/stronger vocals... no one cares. Awesome vocals won't change a song that doesn't resonate with you to one that does. So, yeah, a ton of groups have stronger vocals than BTS' vocal line. So what? Changes nothing. I sound like a jerk right now but it's a truth I also had to cope with regarding some of my faves. Everyone acknowledging the superiority of my fave's vocals over the current top group's doesn't change the fact that more people listen to, stream and buy that top group's songs. Constantly pointing out who had "better" vocalists was just a mechanism I used to ease my bitterness and it felt really good when I finally let it go.

groups should really follow the concept of music.
the song "NO" by CLC, (for example), the whole song they say things like "red lips, no" "high heels, no", while wearing red lipstick and high heels in the entire MV. songs with the concept of "being different" should really have an MV and a different look
(it doesn't mean that the music ends up getting bad, or that I don't like CLC, that was just an example, songs in this style are still good, I just think they should REALLY follow the music)

Whoever included Twice as an example of "ggs who usually stick to one concept and when they get a new concept it's usually a whole concept change" clearly hasn't paid any attention to their B-sides(Their EP More&More has diverse sounds like - tropical house rhythm, Latin pop, 90's R&B, etc and the songs def do not match with their current concept or their previous concepts). As for their title tracks, they never had a _whole_ concept change. All their songs have that Twice vibe to it.
The thing is, whenever someone says bgs are more versatile than ggs, they usually refer to the concepts but it sounds like they are saying the female kpop idols aren't as talented as their male counterparts and hence they aren't as versatile. That's completely wrong. Groups like Apink, Twice, RV can absolutely pull off any concept they want. And most of them do offer a variety of concepts.

I haven't seen any of them straight out saying they won't listen to girl groups or anything (buti don't doubt that some have probably said this) but I do think they are slightly sexist. I, myself, all I got group stan, Ahmed I personally will listen to girl groups but to me I just prefer a certain type of voice/style more than others and that certain type of voice/style is found a lot more in boy group songs than girl group songs so I tend to listen to more boy groups.
Also, I disagree. Even as a boy group stan I believe girl groups are more versatile.

I didn't know the WayV thing was super controversial. WayV is technically a part of NCT, but for legal reasons (recent Chinese laws that have forced changes for the group), SM had to distance WayV from the NCT brand and set up Label V to manage the group from China. That's it. That's all. WayV members still get to be a part of NCT U and NCT 2021 (I'm hoping!), and they even got to do the Chinese version of NCT 127's song Regular. If they had no connection at all to NCT, they would not get those opportunities to perform with members of the other groups. I'm not even sure if Ten and Lucas would have joined SuperM if WayV wasn't connected in some way to the NCT brand, though that's up for debate.

When you mentioned Taeyong for pretty privilege I couldn’t agree more. He is indeed beautiful but he has worked so hard to get where he is. He’s rapping and dancing skills are not something to be over looked and has become one of the best of his generation like you said. He nonstop practices and pushes himself to get where he is. They even said that when he was casted he couldn’t dance at all and that they were afraid that he wouldn’t make it but look where he is now, main Dancer and one of the most recognized dancers of this generation. He never disappoints me as a member, leader, idol, and person and I’m so proud that he’s grown from this man who was scouted because he wanted bread to this skilled idol and beautiful person inside and out✨💕
UO: gfriend has one of the best discography in kpop and you can't change my mind. i know some of y'all only know rough, navillera and tftmn and their "boring" innocent concept but if you're curious go listen to gfriend's second album "Time for us", it's one the best albums ever existed.

1. TXT gets so much unneeded hate. Like yes we love criticism, but some people just shit on them for an easy target. And it really sucks because they're so fucking young. When they debuted last year 3 of 5 members were literally minors who still go to high school. And people were bullying them like they're KIDS. And not only that, people need to stop sexualizing the 3 youngest. Like they're not even legal yet, thats a jail sentence for you sis 💀
They make great music and they're so passionate about music. They all state how much they love music and the artistic aspect of it. You can tell that they genuinely love music and they love their job. And bonus, they're actually kinda chill. Like yeah they get a little loud when they're excited but they're also really young. But overall, they don't try to exaggerate their personalities. So I mean sure it isn't always eventful, but hey its them being just a little more comfortable.
So stan TXT if you like them and not because they're BTS' "younger brothers." They don't rap as much in their songs, at least in all of their title tracks so far, which is something I personally enjoy.
Also! I know they didn't train so hard and for so long just to be in someone else's shadow! Yeonjun wasn't the # 1 Bighit trainee to be called untalented!!
2. Bonus opinion, I think Cho Seungyoun is probably among the most talented people in the industry, AND YET he was slept on for the longest time. Like He is an amazing singer, rapper, dancer, producer, athletic, and fluent enough in 4 different languages. Who gave this man the right to be this talented?? And it took him 4 years after his debut, to finally get recognized by the public. And it took him 3 years to be on stage again since his original group was in an unofficial hiatus.
BUT STILL! In the 3 years that UNIQ wasn't promoting, Seungyoun still pursued music, even if people barely listened. He produced music for himself and so many other artists. And he's worked with many other famous producers. Not only working with big names like Dean, but he's deadass friends with half of the industry and had many of them even shouted him out, but people still slept on Seungyoun.
I'm glad he's gotten a lot more famous since being in Produce X 101 & X1, but he shouldn't be slept on any longer. He just came out with his first mini album EQUAL.
(Including trainee & debut time), He didn't prepare for 10 years for people to sleep on his talents!!

I’m so tired of kpopies being HYPOCRITES!!! Every big3 group has privilege but no one blames them (not like I want them to...) but when it comes to TXT suddenly ya’ll become beacons of justice or some shit, yes TXT are privileged but who gave you guys the right to DRAG them for the so called privilege! If we talk about the technical aspects, BTS and NCT vocals can't be compared. Because literally every single member of the vocal line of both groups has a different tone and different style of singing, with different vocal ranges. Jungwoo, Kun and Jin have the most similar styles, but it's not that similar to be compared. So, both groups are good at their own styles, and their vocals go along with the songs they make. Hence, they can't be compared.This doesn't mean I'm dragging you or smth, I just want to let people know why they can't be compared.
Also, every person has a different opinion and preference. So some might like BTS's vocals better, and some might like NCT's vocals better
Pinkii Lights there is such a thing as being objectively better, tho. For example, Wendy is objectively a better vocalist than Rosé because Wendy uses her natural voice and sings within the ranges that she is comfortable with, so her voice is more smooth and flexible which makes it sound better. Rosé on the other hands appears to almost always sing in her head voice which makes her voice more nasally which makes it sound more “cute” & “unique.” However, due to Rosé always needing to keep her voice up to a certain pitch/key, her voice can’t be as fluid as Wendy’s, so while Rosé is still a talented singer with an amazing voice, Wendy is still the better vocalist.
I'm sorry I really liked "Kick it" and "Wannabe" both of them so far right now are best dance of the year worthy but out of all releases this year I want "Left & Right" , "Psycho" or "Any Song" to be SOTY but I'm not so sure cause there are a lot of comebacks coming right now . Also question can Heng:garæ still be nominated as Album of the year?

14:29 since i ult both of them, i feel like i can say that this is based on experience sort of? for example, a few of the singers in nct's vocal line have been singing even before becoming trainees. so, it would make sense why their vocal line is better. but you can also argue that because some of bts' rappers have been in the game longer, their rap line is better than the other. it's a matter of perspective, but both groups are good at what they do. also, i feel like sm groups are sort of vocally based and bts was a hip-hop centered group in the beginning - so, these two opinions kind of fit the box they were put into.

im honestly mind blown by how taeyong literally didn't know he had that massive potential in dancing, he actually struggled with it his trainee days and now he's a top tier main dancer. his journey pretty much proves that we all have potentials on certain fields, we just don't always have that opportunity to try things out.

J-hope is my favorite rapper and dancer in BTS YES !!! EXID is under appreciated YESSS !! their discography is soooo good. Also, I feel that it's unfair to compare bts' vocal line with nct, because nct has literally 21 MEMBERS so of course the diversity of vocal ranges and tones is way better than bts' who must rely on less vocalists. But I do agree than nct's vocal technique is better than theirs, even tho I think it's an sm thing to focus on vocals
What I love about BTS is that their vocals are different from everyone else's. When I listen to NCT their voices seem to have one colour and that's it. BTS' voices evolve as time passes and they stay innovative because they are their art.
Also, it's not about who can hit higher notes, it's about creating your craft and being able to deliver it with soul, which is exactly what BTS does.
