Thank you! Glazing is definitely a test of patience. So many times I go "I'm really going to take my time"...and then halfway through I start cutting corners 🤣
Terrific material! It's hard to overstate how good of an introduction you've provided to the audience! Starting from the very context of the miniatures you're going to present, through the thought process behind your approach, up to the details of the techniques being used. And then, the final result is extremely interesting and steering away from the easy and obvious approach to the topic makes it stand clearly out of the crowd. Splendid!
Wow! That is so incredibly kind of you! I was concerned I went overboard with the introduction and spent too much time talking so your comment is very much appreciated!
Commander Cody is the goat. I really like this video I always wanted to get into painting miniatures, but it always seemed like a daunting task especially for someone not artistically inclined. Your video tho makes it seem so simple, the step by step is really helpful, thank you!
Cody is my all time favorite Clone! You should definitely try your hand at painting minis! I'm also not artistically inclined at all (I can barely draw a stick figure 🤣), so model painting is nice because it is all paint within the lines kind of art
Love your videos. I use Shatterpoint in english teachings at the school I work. Its a school for kids with special needs. They would be thrilled for some new expansions.
Excellent video! Your explanations of washes and glazes is great. You make it easy to understand. I too love Scale 75 paints. Since I switched from Vallejo to GW and now to Scale 75 (including their artist acrylics), it is hard for me to use anything other than Scale 75. You asked for suggestions for future videos.....non-metallic metal. :)
Thank you and I greatly appreciate you taking the time to watch it! Scale 75 is probably my favorite paint brand as well. I'll have to start planning out something covering NMM
Lovely and very educational video, didnt think of using violet in the shadows, might do something like that on my clones 🤘 Always looking for channels to give me more painting inspiration 💪
I've only tried out an off-white recently using contrast paints on my Palanite Enforcers for Necromunda. I think your tutorial is great and I need to try it out on a few figures in the future when I finally pick up an airbrush.
@@mattsminiprob pretty good. I started with Wraithbone spray primer, used a diluted basilicanum grey:contrast medium 50:50, drybrush white and then used the diluted basilicanum grey again. It gave them a very dirty white / light grey appearance.
Never in a million years would I have thought that violet would look good on a clone trooper. 😂😂😂 But seriously it really helps the model pop. Something I've never thought about.
@@mattsminiprob not really, but my brother and a few of my friends do. It's something I've thought about doing. Mostly focusing on doing Star Wars if I get into it because it's my favorite franchise.
Loved the video, have you created any tutorials using directional lighting, when light from a glowing weapon or a mini is holding a light source such as torch?
Good tutorial for painting white. Glad the details aee sculpted in. I have noticed atomic mass games minis does this quite a bit and i find it very helpful.
This is a cool tutorial, though if i was painting some Storm/Clonetroopers, I'd probably just drybrush/stiple on some light greys, off-whites/tans, apply a wash, then do some finally highlights and paint in the other details, maybe not the most elegant way to paint a mini but it usually gets the job down for me
That has been my standard approach to white (I have another video on how I traditionally do white armor). My goal with this paint job was to look at different ways to paint white armor rather than the best way. This method wouldn't look good if you wanted a flat, shiny white, but I think adds some interesting wrinkles into painting white
For painting...excellent! For gaming I think it is pretty good. It's got good mechanics for a squad based game. It is closer to Marvel Crisis Protocol than it is Legion or 40k
@egProductionsMO the hardest decision for me when starting a new model range series is: do I paint them as basic tutorials or for more experienced painters?
Seriously just keep on the painting grind and ALWAYS be pushing yourself to do new things. The best advice I've ever heard is: embrace doing hard things that will most likely lead to failure
Love the video! I’d love to see you try out some cel shading comic book style on these models. I think these models lean into the comic style a lot and look very good with the thick black lines and blocky colors!
I do like the more cartoony looks of these models opposed to Legions focus on their models being life like. I've thought about stretching myself with cell shading, but I'm weird and don't actually like the look of it 🤣 I think some day it will be a project that will happen
I’ve been eyeballing Commander Cody and General Kenobi, so thank you for this tutorial! Awesome work and great video!
I'm hoping to have a General Kenobi video out in November!
@@mattsminiprob I look forward to it
Oh, I might use this for my apothecary! Thanks for another great video!
Thanks for watching! There are so many great ways to paint white to make it more interesting and fun

I have actually struggled to paint white without white so this is great
White is definitely a notorious color for not turning out the way we want it to
came for the contest. staying for the painting quality and helpful tips
Thanks for staying dude! I appreciate it!
Cody always been the goat 🫡. Great vid, insightful stuff! 🔥
Yes he has! Thanks for watching!
Flat surfaces are the most difficult, especially with certain colours! Thanks for the tips 👌
Yes they are! I think it's because they require so much patience to get then smooth
Excellent tutorial and paint job 🤘
Thank you and I appreciate you watching!
Such a good video for jumping into this rabbit hole, thanks man!
Thanks and glad to have you jumping in!
Hi there! I liked the video a lot. That was an amazing paint job! I loved the contrast of Cody’s armor and the worn sheen the figure seems to have.
Thank you! I was very pleased with how warm the armor looked. I think the sculpts stance really helps sell the more heroic lighting
Great video man! Quality content as always, FOR THE REPUBLIC!
Thank you dude! I appreciate you watching man!

Thank you do much! Cody is such a boss!
Love this. Feel more confident in starting him now.

Beautiful tutorial and will definitely be using some of these techniques in the future when paining my star wars legion miniatures

Thank you and I appreciate you watching! Violet is a great color to use as a shade in general. It adds darker tones but with a color shift as well
So sick! Great video 🫶🏼

I wish I could claim it was an original idea 🤣 I found the idea when researching what other high level painters do for white armors

It is so awesome that they do it and they do it well. The details don't look molded on when painted which helps sell it I think
Great tutorial! Makes me want to get an airbrush.
I love my airbrush...but I will say it is a steep learning curve. I'm still learning a lot about using them

Thanks for this - painting white totally sucks, so I appreciate any viable alternatives!
I highly advise staying away from actually painting white. Always go with off whites, greys and other tones. Flat white just doesn't look natural
