Thank you for this Music!
Thank you for uploading this! I love your videos. Interesting that 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' was a huge hit in most countries (#1 in UK), but only finished in the teens in Germany. Interesting to see the Eurovision influence as Germany hosted that year and you had the local entry, Yugoslavia (Danijel and the German version by Rex Gildo), the winner from Luxembourg (one of the best yet derided winners ever), Italy and the English version of Sweden. The influence of NDW was still strong as in 1982 and the schlager songs weren't as huge as they were in previous years. The multiple versions still common as well. Even '99 Luftbaloons' wasn't a big #1 as it was in other countries either. Just a week! 'Karma Chameleon', 'Billie Jean' and 'Beat It' runners-up too! 'China Girl' by David Bowie is a favourite of mine as is 'Who's That Girl' by Eurythmics (reminds me of a relative and his complicated relationship with his ex gf). Got to admit the Germans loved Eddy Grant - a cool thing in my books 👍
Safety Dance was in the German charts when I was on holiday there at the end of that summer,a couple of months after it was a big hit here in the UK. Several other songs were big in Germany first. King of Pain was a hit in Germany already, but not in the UK until February 1984; another single,Synchronicity, was in our charts in November 1983. 99 Luftballoons was a number 1 here in the spring of 1984. And Living on Video became a big hit on this side of the Channel a full two years later,in July/August 1985!
Francis, you are the Greatest! These German annual Charts are having 40k clicks and more meanwhile - I hope there will be more to come - just excellent!!
HELLOOOO DJ FRANCIS FANTASC THE SONG A MI PADRE LE ENCANTA ESTA MÚSICA THANKS FOR SHARING VERY GOOOOOOOOOD THE VIDEO 1983 FELICITACIONES Y GRACIAS TOTALES 💃💃💃💃🤗🤗🤗🎧🎶🎤🎵🎼👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🎼🎼💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much Francis for this New and brilliant video German chart. My favourite tracks is: 99 Luftballons, Hymn, Billie Jean,, Sweet Dreams, Beat it, China girl, What a feeling, Africa ( Vodoo master), Moonlight Shadow, Baby Jane, Love Blonde, Vamous a la playa, L'italiano, I like Chopin, I'm still standing, Comeback and stay and Guardian Angel. Im waiting for 1984 video. Another great year of Music. Merci! 👍✌️
I can imagine that is hard work to make a vdeo like this. I think you are a great musiclover. I can remember lots of songs and hits and some of them I still enjoy even today,.Michael Jackson for example. The summer of 1983 was very hot and here you have the soundtrack: "The heat is on", "Club Tropicana", "Cruel summer"....
Agreed. Those songs have aged well and are true classics still known amongst the generations today. Interestingly in the UK, July 1983 (I was born in Nov 1984) is the hottest ever month! Not even 2003, 2006, 2018, 2021 have beat it!
What a glorious year, 1983! The world was on the brink of a nuclear war between the USSR and the US. And I was 14 years old and I didn't care because I was listening to those amazing songs!!!
Where to begin shot too classy and good Francis great research top notch hidden gems u think some of these Artists had only one Song it proves this what a great year a mix of diverse and genre i thought Here I Go Again came out in 87.Superb this beats nearly anything and everything the last 33 years since the greatest decade of all time never to forget miss it so much oh hail the 80s had left us
Divine, Audrey Landers and Patrick Duffy are three Americans I'd never imagine I'd see on a music chart compilation. And my fave has got to be Yaz's "Nobody's Diary"
Another awesome chart from the German singles chart, so next all of 1984 from the German charts then. 😁 I would love to see n album chart though from Germany at some point??
A good Year for Bobby O (Orlando) i find 8 of his "Products" . The performers are unimportant, he as the producer determines everything. Divine , flirts etc . And i saw Lime, one of the best groups in euro dance ! Made in Italy
A bunch of classics, some best forgotten as usual, and actually quite a few tracks I had never heard, including some really good ones (e.g. Hans Hartz, Jawoll). That Warning track is one big WTF.
Unfortunately the 1983 song 'Radio' of girl group A La Carte failed to chart :( they already had 10 chart entry 's before. A real pitty because it is such a powerful song! Had to be another Hit single by this group.
from about 1981 the so-called New German Wave prevailed in Germany. These are German lyrics in the rock and pop sector. Interestingly enough, this had existed in the former GDR since the late 1960s. Many don't know that.
Pure pleasure, thanks a lot, Francis! 20:03 Stevie's trademark pose 21:58 Nicole, what did the stylist do to you, 25:47 - unforgettable piece by Vangelis, but what sport event in the U.S.S.R. was it?
Great stuff, as always! Brings back many memories. (Now you have an idea how old I am! 😄) Please keep going. Just out of curiosity, Francis: Are you French? If yes, why is it Francis and not Francois? (Sorry, I don't have a c cedille on my keyboard.) And how do you feel about French songs in the German charts? I know there aren't many but "Voyage, Voyage", e.g., was the biggest hit in Germany in 1987. I also remember Mylène Farmer, apparently she is still alive, unlike France Gall, who had another no. 1 hit in Germany (Ella, elle l'a).
Thank you Francis for another fantastic video! 1983 was one of the greatest years ever in music, the number of great songs is incredible.

Baby Jane is for me the best 1983 song. My favourite songs of this video are all of Rod Stewart and Shakin Stevens but specially Baby Jane 😉
Wow, so many songs I've never heard before and some not for a long time.
Loved the Trio song!

Was für geile Musikklänge!
Ich muss was trinken.
thank you - for all these charts of the 80s!
Divine, Audrey Landers and Patrick Duffy are three Americans I'd never imagine I'd see on a music chart compilation.
And my fave has got to be Yaz's "Nobody's Diary"
I LOVE "Nobody's Diary" by Yazoo.
@@ToyTiger666 So do I.
And Tracey Ullman

Muchas gracias. Gran trabajo
Ein Wort: Großartig!
very great video
i will back to 1983
A good Year for Bobby O (Orlando) i find 8 of his "Products" . The performers are unimportant, he as the producer determines everything. Divine , flirts etc . And i saw Lime, one of the best groups in euro dance ! Made in Italy
Next is my favorite year, with Alphaville, Nik Kershaw and Talk Talk gallore!
This separates the 80s from now - Short entries like "Shoot your Shot" are still playing...
A bunch of classics, some best forgotten as usual, and actually quite a few tracks I had never heard, including some really good ones (e.g. Hans Hartz, Jawoll). That Warning track is one big WTF.
Wow... ICE HOUSE peaked at number 5.. would never of thought
Unfortunately the 1983 song 'Radio' of girl group A La Carte failed to chart :( they already had 10 chart entry 's before. A real pitty because it is such a powerful song! Had to be another Hit single by this group.

The sporting event must have been the 1980 Olympics.
Billie Jean and Beat it by MJ #2
Blue Monday #2
Juliet by Robin Gibb #1
beautiful song by Robin Gibb, but... beats me

I'm french and Francis is my real name. I know 1987 is a good year for french songs in Germany (and Europe). It's nice to see them in german charts.
Einfach nur geil 🎉
Rod Stewart & Shakin Stevens LOS ADORO
Love Agnetha, the Hollies, Lionel, Bowie and Robin Gibb.
Super👍❤️😀
Muito boa seleção , parabéns
If you want to have the Chauvi Rock to re-do this mix, I can send it to you. Just get in contact.
