I love the hang! I heard it played in Zurich two years ago. A young chap from Hungary played it down by the quay promenade. His name ... Norbi, and the name of his CD 'Tales From The Hang'. Everybody walking by or sitting on the benches having their lunch were enthralled.
Wow man, i'm simply captivated by the sound of the Igil with the Hang drum and the Didgeridoo, creates a sort of mysticism and spiritualistic atmosphere. I'm blown away.
I like the dog just chillin at 3:11 Looks like the music has put him in the right spot. I'm so buying one of those drums, it'd be a great add on to my didj music
lol, thanks for the comment, I'm a musician, not a video editor :) anyway, yeah the nice sound on the "ding" is actually a producing a "5th" above its normal sound, I'm hitting it about an inch away from the actual dome.
thanks logrhythm, yeah the Hapi Drum is very cool and fun to play, it's kind of played like the Hang, though it's a totally different instrument in and of itself.
yeah, they are two totally different things, though the Hang is so hard to get these days, even if you have the money. I'm going to try doing another little HAPI demo this weekend (I did the mini demo that's on the HapiDrum channel) and once I get the "hang" of it :), so to speak, I'll do some full songs with it here too.
Terpsichore was the Greek muse of music and dance - and as someone who tends to write a lot, I find that your music (excellent, thanks) set my fingers dancing accross the keyboard, so it joins my collection of "finger dance music". :D The right rhythm and song will increase my typing speed 25% - and gives my ears something to do while writing :)
Yes they are. I've seen some of his more recent instruments and they keep getting better and better, and he's one of the nicest persons I've ever met too, look forward to seeing them the next time they are in California.
Lots of very cool instruments. I saw a woman playing a hang this weekend and I fell in love with them. But I also like the other drum you play in this video. And everything combined is just beautiful.
I so enjoy the wonderful sounds that come from your head......Am a subscriber and always will be. Thank you for sharing your talent. Everything can make music...even an orange! At least I've tried it. Much love to you and your compadres at oddmusic. The best and most talented around. Taking music to the next level!!!
omg this is such a great video and great music. so creative. bursting , dripping, flowing, full of creativity. so many textures, and the video was very thrilling.
das ja wohl HAMMER mäßig total melodisch mit der Hang is sowieso mein Favorit will auch eine 5* von mir und meinem Onkel natürlich ab in die Favoriten un Playlist verdammt gute Arbeit
truely mesmurising in every aspect of the word. i loved it and i will be sure to get a HAPI drum as soon as i can afford it. im so relaxed right now that its impossible to move me or make me angry. make more like this and you could have a hit single lolz loved it keep up the good work lots of love!!!
thanks! yes mostly self taught, have had a couple didgeridoo lessons years ago and an hour on the igil a couple years ago, but mostly I figured out how to play them myself, though I did have a great music teacher when I was a young kid who told me just to pick up anything and try to play it like I already knew how, lol, and if you really like the instrument, just to keep plugging away at it.
btw, your music is by far the trippiest music i have ever heard, and it is also the best music that could possibly be made by one guy and a bunch of odd (hence the name oddmusic) instruments that are slightly archaic yet produce modern tones.
Awesome! Wonderful Video and Great Music. I purchased your CD and it is really Amazing! Please keep up the great work and thanks for posting this video. Mike Gallichio
well, you thanked me enough with your comment, glad I helped set off a little spark :) The Hapi Drum has only been around for about a month, so it's brand new to the scene. I did a few more demo's with more Hapi in them if you'd like to check out my channel.
Style of playing is very similar, but it's a different instrument. The Hang is tuned with hammers like a steel drum is tuned, the Hapi Drum uses steel "tongues" cut to specific lengths to get the notes to ring. Though it is about 6 times less expensive.
hey man, it must be a blast building all this science, art and spirit... your ordering of tones and sounds in succession and combination so as to uniquely express yourself... a nice gift for the day! thanks!
Youre doing an amazing job, i had the same idea, to combine a didg with hang great to see you doing that, the sound is wonderfly beautiful thanks for sharing!
@indigochild79 Yes, perfectly, since the root note of the D Akebono scale is "D" and all the notes are based around that note, a D Didge would be a great bass pad for the Hapi to play around in, or however complicated or rhythmic you wanted to play the didge in, all the notes on the D Akebono would work together with it.
really beautiful. i play didje, guitar and flute I loved your work. I wonder if someday I can -make throat Tuvan sing -have my own Hang drum -Receive brillant people like you in João Pessoa - Brasil, where I live and pluraliae friendship with "weird instruments players" congratulations for the recording best wishes.
Awesome video!! Kinda made me nauseated though (i don't do well with spinny things) but I hung in there and finished it. It was good to finally see and hear the HAPI drum. I've been pondering it since you told me about it... I hope to have one for my next tour of duty =] Keep it up man
When the steel gets stamped into the right shape in the mold, the hole has to be there because of the manufacturing process, to hold the steel sheet. There's also one on the bottom, but that gets cut out into the sound-port design and hole in the bottom, so the logo is actually covering up a hole that has to be there because of the manufacturing process. but yeah, it serves no other purpose.
@SvetlioPrice They are tuned with the strings a 5th apart, in this case E and B to match the Hang, didge and Hapi. I sell the Hapi Drum from my site at HapiTones (dot) com. Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed it. Not too much Hapi in this tune, because I was using a prototype, since we were just starting production on them, but wanted to sneak in a little bit of it :)
Hey thanks! UA-cam sure mangled the video quality on this one, since I uploaded in a higher format that they now offer, so hopefully the "high quality" link will show up soon, usually take a couple hours, we'll see...
Seth Augustus made that one. I moved down the nut on the top so it would match the neck length of the traditional igil that I usually play, which has a shorter neck. Aldar Tamdym, of Chirgilchin made the igil that I use most of the time. I needed to play this in "E" and was easier to tune this one to the key of E, which is a higher key than I usually play in. Seth isn't making his igil's anymore though.
Hard to comment properly when my mouth is hung open with amazement! (Typing works, though). Heading off to pick up your pre-flight CD. Every pixel of this vid is soooo very cool and inspiring, both sound and vision and art.
I wish this song was like... 9 hours longer. One of the most enchanting, gorgeous things I've ever heard. Good work.

Hang !! Hand drum. Space music ... Heard a trio (Hang, Sax n' Cythar at Barcelona last week. Real sound without amp !! Amazing !!!
this is great. the Igil blending with the Hang Drum really gives it an eastern flavor.
I like the dog just chillin at 3:11 Looks like the music has put him in the right spot.

Great fusion of instruments and cultures - very unique sounds. and in combination they just seem like they belong together! :D
thanks logrhythm, yeah the Hapi Drum is very cool and fun to play, it's kind of played like the Hang, though it's a totally different instrument in and of itself.

Incredible! What a delightful surprise this morning, looking for hank drums and finding this treasure!
a true visionary in a modern age

Lots of very cool instruments. I saw a woman playing a hang this weekend and I fell in love with them. But I also like the other drum you play in this video. And everything combined is just beautiful.

Aldar is a friend of mine. His instruments are truly a work of art.

Another great one.
I dig this so much that it convinced me to finally get one! I also through a link up on my channel. Sending good vibes my friend!
amazing, mate. sounds really good
