Bruno will be a challenge to find an adopter. He’s a older dog with medical complications that need treatment twice a day. Phil is a young puppy so hope he’ll be adopted soon.

Bruno w/his heartworm alone was a load of $. Then the mange & life long meds....wow.
Pretty sure the Vets are donating at least some of their time, meds & efforts w/them, as well as the groomer & even the pet shop is probably giving discounts to them. Saving them hundreds, probably many _thousands_ over the course of a year.
Which is all very wonderful!
I did private rescue for years & it just got too expensive for me to keep it up like I used to. So now, it’s only if I come across something on my own, or I know I can help w/o going broke. 1 rescue dog can be thousands on its own. At minimum, hundreds.
I don’t have the same income now, so as much as I miss rescuing, I just can’t afford to like before.
I was twisting arms just trying to get minimal donations from stores. And Vets just don’t help you much if you’re not an organization, or affiliated w/one.
I never charged for rehoming a rescue I’d worked with, to make sure it was going to be a good rehome & a good match w/who I placed the animal with. I took a donation from them. Placing them w/a safe, loving forever home was the priority. And I keep in touch! B/C I offer to take any back, that far any reason, can’t stay.
Those few that were too tall an order to place, I wound up keeping myself. Adding to my expense.
I just had to say goodbye to my last one earlier this year. She wasn’t dog friendly at all, so prevented me from taking in another for the time I had her. Just over 3 yrs. I had never had a dog that was not able to accept other dogs, or some strangers & had zero tolerance for being left alone. She was just a piece of work, all around.😂
That, on top of her age, was a killer for another home. She had a very hard time adjusting to me. So I knew she wouldn’t do well having it done to her yet again.
Aside from all that, she was very smart, a quick learner w/commands & tricks...eager to please.
She had ongoing stomach/intestinal issues too, which the Vet thought could be b/c of her high anxiety she was on meds for.
They didn’t always work. ;) She was a lot of effort, overall & I’m a lot older than when I first started this. When her major health issues struck suddenly, I just didn’t have the funds to put into trying to see what it was. And at almost 15, the suspected liver or kidney problem, only had a temporary fix. So....once she went downhill fast, I said goodbye. 😢
I’ve been selling & giving away a lot of my things & equipment. I know I’m not going to be doing it much at all now. So others who have rescues, or are in need to help their own, I’m happy to help them out.
I know how hard it can be. Just w/the cost of food alone spiking so much in the past couple yrs. And if you have a fussy eater, like my last one...a real challenge to keep them eating the same food more than a couple mos.
I’m leaving it to the organizations & hoping they do right by them, like Furry Friends does. ♥🐾

Thank you to the workers who caught the dogs before Olena's arrival. Poor loves, they look sad and pitiful, and they need medical help. Bruno, a senior with white around the snout, has the sweetest face and the most shiny coat. I love him. Phil, a pup, has learnt to trust the humans during the process. He's beautiful and adorable. Thank you, Olena, for your rescue work. Without you, these two dogs wouldn't have a second chance at health and happiness. May they be adopted and loved for the rest of their lives. There are gong to be a lot of dogs like Phil in Ukraine. Abandoned dogs breed, have puppies, the puppies grow up with no human contact, are not socialized and can even pack up. They can be dangerous and some are not going to have a good outcome. In some cases dogs are loose because people simply are cruel and don't want them. Just so sad. Thank you so much Olena, for what you do, one little soul at a time.
