💕 Hi Chantelle, you can go to an automotive store and buy head liner screws. That will be something more permanent. You won't be able to take it down. Maybe you can roll it up and have ways to tie it up. Maybe you can screw the screws into the ceiling and attach more hair ties to the screws so it is moveable.
I know I'm probably a little too late to the discussion but you really don't want to use anything like Velcro or thumbtacks that attach to the vehicles ceiling. That is called the vehicle headliner and you''re going to eventually cause the fabric to separate from the harder backer board that the fabric is spray glued too. I like the idea of screwing into the side pillars which won't cause any damage but when it comes to the ceiling itself, i think the way you have it with the center command strip is your best option as it's stuck to the plastic grey plug, not the headliner. If your headliner starts to fall, it's going to cost you easy $150.00 or more to have a replacement put into your vehicle. Most start to sag with age but you don't want to do anything to make that process speed up in any way. Hope it helps.
Solving the darkening issues, keep it simple. Take a shower curtain or an old blanket. Find an adjustable rod and just pin it side to side. Pick a blanket, throw it over that rod and .... job done. Sleep tight like a princess... 😁😉
Get a long thin strip of metal or a long thick wire that will go completely across the van with enough extra so you can curve it with the ceiling and sides of van then you run the curtain thru it and shove each side of wire or metal strip into wall between were the hard plastic and fabric meet
Hang your darkening curtain on an extention curtain rod and use a medium size screw to screw it in to the cross bar above your windows. You may need to bend it slightly to fit against the ceiling of your van. You can slide the curtain back and forth as needed.
Try putting a clothes line rope in the curtain and tie it to the black things you screwed in each side just make the rope tight enough so the curtain holds up high and tight
In my SUV, I had a curtain rod across the old s*** handles in the front and hung my blackout curtains from those. My minivan doesn't have oh s*** handles in the front, so I'm going to clip binder clips onto the side panels where you put the screws and then put a small, straight curtain rod through the handles of the clips. The curtains will hang from the rod.
get a package of large safety pins, open them up and just slide the pin end into the the fabric of the curtain and the roof. It won't damage the roof liner.
The gap is too much....just my opinion. I saw on cheap rv living Bob interviewed a lady who used some type of flat metal that she bent and molded to the curves of the roof of her van. She anchored them in tge plastic molding. (Like above where you screwed in the anchors) threaded the curtain on like a curtain rod. It looked like it worked awesome. Hope this helps.
@@MyBasicJourney didn't work in my dodge either..i use twine..tie to hook on one side..then use slip knot on other side that I can pull on to make tighter or looser..or..undo..its all a pain til you find what works for us..im thinking of putting wood/panels up behind both of the front seats..for privacy and protection from flying objects..be safe..hahaha you are headed for 5k subs now..thats awesome👍take care✌💖😊
Okay my suggestion to you for a divider curtain would be to purchase a aluminum curtain rod one of the round ones and bend it to curb with your ceilingadd two curtain rod holders at each end of the van and wallah you have a divider curtain that you cannot see through
So glad I found your channel. I really enjoy watching your adventures. Get a truck sun shade for you front windshield. Have a great life. God bless you..
I just use sun shades. And cut them to size fit the windows. They block sun and keep warmth in or cooler. That way no one can look into the windows in the front.
I just came across your channel. I would get the appropriate size windshield cover in the meantime until you find what’s going to work best for you as far as that curtain. I didn’t notice if you have window coverings or tint on your front side windows. New sub here!!!! Stay safe
It's so funny I'm working on the cab divider now. I'm making mine a three piece project. 2 permanent divider curtains behind the seats. Then an adjustable middle curtain so I can get in and out through the cab.
I have a few thoughts. To attach the hair ties to the curtain you need to slip knot them through the hole. My other though is that you need some type of "rod". Perhaps fishing line through the casing then the fishing line hooks onto the hooks. There are holes already for the line to come out of the casing/hem. I hope that makes sense. Good luck.
Chrome from VanCity VanLife put a curtain rod across. If I am not mistaken, he stuck the ends above the plastic piece on the sides to hold the rod, or between two plastic pieces. Then he slide the curtain onto the rod. It was a year or two ago so it would be hard to find that video he made about it. Check if there is some way you could do something similar. Good luck.
I found it! Search "Privacy Curtain Ford E250 Conversion Van". It is the episode where Chrome shows how he attached the curtain rod. He actually made a hole in the plastic headliner and stuck the rod in the hole. Hope this helps!
Maybe a sunshade screen would of worked better . See some other van people using the and give you more open air through the front seat to window They are about 7.00 at auto depts.
I have had the same struggles with a curtain. I think our cans have the same curve aspect. I usually just drape a black out curtain over the seats and anchor it with a small pillow on each side. I just removed the one sticker from the outside of my van, just in case it unstealths my van a little.
My Basic Journey the front windshield area slopes down too so it covers a lot. I usually roll into my sleep spot and just put the cover up and go to sleep. The seats are high enough. I try to park in spots where there is a hedge in front of me or I just roll outa there before it gets too light.
My Basic Journey I sleep pretty well. I am usually in a decent place and I see other vehicle dwellers. I have pepper spray and a taser. Etc. just be aware in general.
They actually came in a set for a bungee net, and I didn't need them for that project. I'm sure you could find something similar at home depot. Just look for hook screws. Or Amazon.
Same problem here. But then I was looking at your "closet" . Is it possible to make a frame out of smaller size pvc? Go from floor to ceiling and across?
@@MyBasicJourney Yes I will. I remembered that in my storage I have an adjustable garment rack. I think I am going to try that first. I have learned a lot from watching you, Chrome and a few others. Thanks for taking the time to share your adventures!
Update: Ok so I used a garmet rack that was in my storage. It's working great about 5 days. The brand is mainstay adjustable garmet rack. I did have to make some adjustments. I ziptied one of the vertical poles to the bottom of the driver's seat as well as the head rest nice and tight. Did the same for the passenger side. The horizontal bar I got it tight to the side of the van.It has these locks on them. So far so good. I checked Walmart- up here they are $9.00.

You can use a old fiberglass tent pole. Thred it thru the existing hem. The tension should hold it up there

You really need to get some T pins. You can get them at Walmart or hobby lobby. T pins are awesome for holding things on the ceiling
Your a very lovely person. I enjoy your videos and that bubbly personality....

I did, and they damaged the roof. (Pulled it down.) The ones that are still in are hanging now because they didnt hold. It's okay, though.
That circle thing, I think is a upholstery tack to hold roof liner up.

I love this. If you can sleep with that gap then go for it girl. If you pull the curtain tight and move the hole inward you may get a smaller gap.
Thanks, love! 💖🦄💖

You are lovely and inspiring and What’s up weirdo! ❤
Try a tension rod
Try staple gun to stop the fabric from hanging , I did it to my van , worked well
We used to put a canvas tarp on the outside and tuck it into the doors to secure it! Not so good in high wind though, but perfect otherwise!
Try the shower curtain rod that pushes to the width of walls. Works great. So proud of you. I have a minivan cancel want to do this.

Try a thin curtain rod or something similar.

Thread a bungie cord through the curtain rod pocket and attach that to your hooks?
I put my van city van life stickers on my back windows 😁
Extension rods they work great
Get a curtain rod and stick inside the area where you screwed the hooks. Seen it on another van lifers video.
That little plastic circle holds your ceiling up. ")) Haha 1:55
🤣💖💖 Thank you. I was very curious. Lmao
Stickers look real cool. Hey howd you get that into your van? Did u use a power drill?
It does scream I live in this car. Magnetic stickers can be removed if you need to stealth camp in the city
Might be late but also but, Why don't you cover the front 3 Windows like you did the back? You would have more room I would think. Love yeah have fun!
This chick rules. She’s right. Just try stuff.

Love little joey!
Look at van city life what he use or crystal vanner see what they are using love your channel be safe
use magnetic strips on cam roof and on fabric

Your dog 🐕 is so cute
Going back thru your beginning videos on your set up. For the blackout curtain have you tried cubicle hooks? I've seen those used.
Separate the curtain into 3 pieces so it's not so heavy and use the bare minimum Velcro needed so it's easy to pull off.
I got a van just like yours (same make and model just a different year) one day I'll take off and do my own adventure
Heck yeah!! (:
@@MyBasicJourney I think I'll customize it for grand caravans so I can just swap it over to another caravan when mine takes a crap
Have you tried bungee force for hanging your curtain...
Would a shower curtain Rod do the trick?
💚
What about upholstery pins?
Sun shades would not make it do claustrophobic.
Here is how I hang my curtain: ua-cam.com/video/Sfe_WyB49ro/v-deo.html
They block the light pretty good.
