hi Bayo, great video as always. Points two and three seem to counter each other. You say Nigerians are naturally very sociable people - which is very true. Yet, in point three, you say we're not great at making people feel welcome when they are customers. An outsider wanting to relocate from a Western background may find that side of Nigerian culture contradictory. We underestimate good customer service to the detriment of the progress of our businesses.
Thanks for this interesting video Bayo. I have always wondered how Nigerians are able to survive the environment. My stay out here has already rewired me on how things are done without unnecessary troubles.
I like that you mentioned community, because I am looking for that. cool!
Thank you for this Bayo. And while we are at it, especially on customer service, it happens with big corporations too, like Banks. So, if you feel they are trying to rip you up, dont hesitate to write/email them, and tell them exactly what you will do to have the situation redressed, such as involving Central Bank, also taking legal action, and claiming compensation. It works, it works wonders!
you are absolutely right! and very cool! Thanks for that input
am a loner man, I left Nigeria at 18 years old. Am 35 now and such a loner.
Come back home :)
hi Bayo, great video as always.
Some things in Nigeria are truly contradictory for sure..lol. but its true :) now. some buinesses are great but overall thats the general experience.
True
😂😂😂, very smart move, keep saying I may not reside in Lagos coming back to Nigeria
The wall where the guy is making the food should have been covered with a wall paper. But kn all, great information 👍
Yes, you are right. Thanks for watching :)
Thanks for this interesting video Bayo. I have always wondered how Nigerians are able to survive the environment. My stay out here has already rewired me on how things are done without unnecessary troubles.
YES OOOH! There is the easy way and the hard way.lol.. haha :)
I like that you mentioned community, because I am looking for that. The part about always having to watch your back, the trust issues part, says there will be a lot of shady people in the community, too, and that's not nice, but I suppose it is everywhere. Thank you, thank you, for sharing your insight!
surprisingly, within the community you are in things are usually all good. for the most part. OR you are just MORE FAMILIAR.
I'm seriously planing to relocate back to Nigeria, although they say "Lagos is the city to live if you want to make it" I cannot stand the hustle culture of the city. I travel back every year to change my mind but unfortunately, I cannot live there its too much. I really like your points, please continue to make these kind of videos for us that are try to be convinced otherwise.
I would recommend somewhere outside of lagos when you travel next time. It might not be as developed, but you will be able to breathe a bit and maybe enjoy lagos for 25% of the time
Why not relocate to Abuja, Its relatively calm compared to Lagos

Good one. I am Jamaican and the list fits. Especially number 3. After living overseas, when I go into do businesss, the attitude seems rude detached and don't care. Even with lots of tolerance it's hard to adjust
Yeah its a tough one. I honestly think its lack of training and oversight. I have been to some businesses ran by indians, whites and lebanese here. Their customer service is GREEAT! So I am realizing its not the people. Its the training and oversight

I can overcome all stated issues but security is my major concern.
View from UK.
Thats the SPIRIT. Security is actualy not a big issue if you live in the right neighborhoods.
I find it hard to fathom the fact why everyone is shouting security.Have they seen the numbers of mass shooting in the US? Someone just enters into a shop and starts killing. Truth is that security is an issue everywhere.
If you live a non flamboyant lifestyle, security is not an issue in Nig regardless of what you see on social media. Flight is safer for interstate travels. You can have police escort for less than $30/day but after a while you'd realize it's not necessary. That's my experience & I visit Nig 3 times/yr & enjoy it 😊
As a Multi-talented Master Problem Solver in most situations I would like to link-up from time to time when I do visit 9ja and also learn more about the Green Paradise and other developments etc.

Excellent video Bayo! when selecting a place to reside in Lagos, it's important to take into account factors like security, the potential for flooding, the availability of electricity and probably clean water. However, addressing the issue of poor customer service that you mentioned-goodness gracious, it can be incredibly frustrating. In such situations, it's essential to cultivate patience, as dealing with subpar customer service can test your resilience. Nigeria presents abundant opportunities as an emerging nation, particularly for those who excel at solving problems, you will love it here.

Great Video, I like the content. But I must comment here, I've like in Nigeria all my life, and I still go by a lot of world standards about how things should be down. e.g I will go by a queue to get service, I will not be laidback, get to my work or business at the right time etc....and a lot of people around me just think am just too serious....the reason we are missing our targets. Thanks for the video

Noise from generators, honking vehicles, sirens, blaring loudspeakers from places of worship and weekly parties!
We mustn't also ignore insecurity!
Naija has its pleasures but it is definitely not for the faint-hearted!
LOL. Depending on the area you live. I sometimes go out to seek some noise and people watch.lol insecurity is not my top 10 at this point in time. Probably because of the areas i stay at are relatively safe.
This is specific to Lagos.

Hi Bayo, thanks for a very informative video! I'm a young, Nigerian American female & I've been considering relocating to Nigeria by myself for just a few months. I was wondering how you feel safety wise living in Nigeria, especially coming from the diaspora, do you feel that it makes you a target? My mother is not happy with the idea and is trying to talk me out of it. I truly feel that I'll be ok but I also want to gather all the information I can before going.
It feels safer to me than US. We dont have as much mass shootings and deadly crime here in comparison to USA
Why not start with short visits so you get used to the environment. Also, when you visit, try as much as possible to blend in. But, i feel Nigeria is safer than US. I wonder how you guys survive there

LOL. Funny! That one can be learned quickly
Bayo i think your over generalization of the ills in Nigeria 🇳🇬 is awful. Some of you in that tiny dirty Lagos just assume that every part of Nigeria is like Lagos. Nigeria is not all about Lagos. Nigeria has 36 states including Abuja. I doubt if you have spent time in other parts of Nigeria like Port Harcourt, Benin city, Calabar, Enugu, Ibadan, etc. If there are no honest people in Lagos, it doesn’t mean the entire country is like that. Lagos is a very tiny part of Nigeria
LOL. Guess what ?. I have been to port harcourt, Calabar, Benin, ibadan and Abuja and i can tell you for sure that the culture isn't that much different. Maybe in the rural areas. Matterfact, Nigeria is even similar to other african countries o have been to. Maybe less traffic and more laidbackness. Also. who said there isnt "NO " honest people. I think you interpreted thiis in a way that you wanted to. Honesty is not even in any of my points. Where did you get that from ? I talked about TRUST. "Honesty " and "trust " are two different words.
