    Being advanced freaking sucks haha it takes soooo much patience. John was so right when he said we have a lot of low jumping periods then super highs like 2 months out of the year. You gotta LOVE it for sure

    I got my vertical from last year late spring (23") to now end of summer (36"). Hopefully this time next year I can say I have a 40 inch vert🙏

    I know I’m very late, but when he’s talking vertical ranges does he mean standing or running? Also, do you have any beginner workouts with and without weights? I’m trying to get my parents to let me go to the gym but it’s a little iffy. I also don’t have access to a low rim.

    My vertical went from 37.5 to 39 being 5’11. I can jump pretty high but I can barely dunk. I’ve done jump training for awhile now but I’ve hit a very big plateau while also having lcl pain.

      if you can barely dunk with a 39 inch vert at basically 6 ft you have Trex arms

      You should be dunking if you jump 39 inches. That or you need to fix your technique

    Took a long break from trying to dunk because of ankle injuries but finally started to put in the work to fix it and start to jump again. At the beginning of the year I struggled to touch the rim and now I’m dunking off the dribble at 5’9. Vert is up 9 inches in 8 months from 29 to 38. The information you post has been so helpful

      @@CaioSantos-tz6kv 6 Day a week pull push legs but I worked up to that. I warm up with injury prevention for hip flexors ankles side glutes and the McGill big 3 everyday. Try to get in plyo on my leg days doing weighted jumps step ups kneeling jumps pogo jumps etc. I haven’t done as much as I could have due to freak injuries playing basketball. Jump sessions to practice dunking I try to do once a week. The most important thing for all the progress I’ve made is nutrition. Shaving the body fat I had has just made me a better athlete. The only problem I’m having is trying to stay at a lower weight because of my joints. I keep getting bigger and leaner. I’m getting close to 5’9 170 at 10% bodyfat (quad veins oblique veins a legit 10%) but I want to be 165 to jump higher

    I went from 24” - 30” of vertical in almost a year, so I went from barely touching the rim to dunking. I am 6’4” 150 Ibs with an 8’2” standing reach at 15 yrs old. I focused on plyometrics and practicing jumping and a little bit of strength training as well. Would I need to rely on more strength training if I were to continue with vertical jump training to reach 36”?

    Resting for one week after 15 weeks of Air Alert has increase my vertical. Resting is underrated aspect too.

    I am 15 and a half and have been training for 2 years. At the beginning of my journey I had a 24 inch vert and I now have a 37-40 inch vert, does that mean that I have just as good genetics as Isaiah?

    I am commited to dunking. That is my Future. I want to increase my vertical. I am at a verge of become an elite dunker. I can dunk (depending on the rim height and/or how good or bad good days are. I am committed for real. ISAIAH and John Thank you for inspiring me.     I guess 10ft 6in is the bare minimum for dunking entry,
    Currently I’m at 9’5” jumping reach, 25in vert
    At 5’9in. I’ll have to get my vertical to 36in
    Which is another 13in on top of where I’m at currently.

      Everything happens more slowly so it's more like multiplying the time by like 1.5

      I'm at the lower end of that age range. I did the math and my "time multiplier" after a year of good training was 1.6. So Isaiah's comment above is pretty spot on with how it's been for me!

    I went from a 30 inch vertical to a 45 inch vertical in 12 weeks. I was 18 and I developed my own program based off the information i had read about strength development. Its one of my proudest achievements. Its cool to see so many guys like you who found their own path to jumping really high.

    How much can I increase my vertical by if I start doing strength training?

      that alone won’t help, incorporating plyos and jump sessions and also perfecting your approach will help a lot

    Awsome video!! Is there a number you think most people can get? Like should most (average height, weight and under 35) guys be able to reach at least 36 inches with proper training?
    Im 6,3, 220 lbs, 26 y old, with a 28 inch V. I play volleyball and havn't been diligent in the weight room enough. I feel like that and having the need to shed off around 20-25 lbs is what have been keeping me from making progress.

    What if I’ve been at the same vertical for years. I’ve had a 36-37 for the past 2 years. I haven’t been training my vertical at all and it’s been the same. So if I start training again will my vertical increase more quickly
