Won of the greatest match ups in bowling in my opinion. Legend vs legend, new school vs old school, old vs young. This will go down as one of the best matches of all time. Respect to both bowlers.
Norm is one of the greats. He had lots of revs when he was young. I am very impressed of him changing strategies on how he bowls now, 10 to 7 to 18. Way to go Norm.
I love this match so much because it shows that power doesn’t stop a bowler from winning titles. Every time I see belmo bowl, I want that power, but rev rate is mostly natural, so seeing duke win this title is extremely encouraging
It's never been about power. I see plenty of people in their 50s and 60s still carrying 230+ averages. It's all about correct entry angles and matching speed for that angle.
roger murtaugh I don’t know about always wins. You can try and say that but it won’t change belmos 22 career titles. Sure one handed is tried and trust but two handed hasn’t been used professionally as much as one handed has, it’s only a fairly recent occurance and a really innovative one at that
Norm Duke reminds me of Robin Williams. Just the look and the antics he does sometimes but then just a great guy. Norm Duke is bowlings Robin Williams and i love em both!
Kevin Scarborough You’re calling the man with 11 PBA Major wins not a legend? Get outta here, don’t pointlessly hate on 2-handers just because their revs are higher :)
@@kevinscarborough9982 If you dont know anything about 2 handed bowling or how it works, don't comment. You're literally on every comment section blurting out information you have no idea about. Calm down, and get the fuck over the fact that 2 handed bowling is here, and changed bowling, for the better. By the way, no ones catching jason in majors. Therefore, legend.
I don’t think these stat trackers are that accurate. I heard Brad Miller from Brad and Kyle talk about how, on TV, it shows that he throws the ball at 18 mph with 490 revs even though in real life he throws it at 15 mph with 350 revs.
Two of the best bowlers ever in terms of accomplishments. AND, both DUKE and BELMONTE conduct themselves as genuinely professional as a bowler possibly can. I still like Pete a whole lot. Walter Ray is SO likeable. Belmonte is currently at 31 titles at 39 yrs. of age and still going very strong yet Duke has now retired with 40 titles at 59 yrs. of age. So, I'M HOPING THAT DUKE COMES OUT OF RETIREMENT WITH RENEWED EMOTIONAL VIGOR AND CATCHES EARL EARL ANTHONY WITH 43 CAREER TITLES. BECAUSE, THEN 1 MORE TITLE PUTS HIM AT 44 WHICH IS SECOND ON THE ALL-TIME TITLE LIST. HOWEVER. AND I SAY HOWEVER, THAT IS A BIG CHALLENGE AGAINST THE YOUNG GUNS WHO BECAUSE JUST HAVING A BODY THAT IS 10 YEARS YOUNGER IS AN ADVANTAGE. PLUS, THE "YOUNG GUNS" ARE SO HUNGRY FOR SUCCESS. THEY ARE "CHOMPING AT THE BIT". HOWEVER, DUKE HAS A FAMILY THAT IS A TOP PRIORITY AND ALSO A BUSINESS ENTERPRISE THAT MIGHT NEED HIS TIME. HAVE TO RESPECT "STORMIN' NORM. HE HAS WON IN 5 DECADES. (AS PETE AND WALTER RAY HAVE.)
1:02 and pause. It's a strange thing that Norm teaches one thing in his "Next Level" videos regarding his finish. He coaches people to keep their right leg straight out to the left, and toe on the ground, here we can clearly see his foot is totally up in the air. Just an observation being it's Jason Belmonte he's bowling against. :)
Norm is doing this because of speed. He is throwing the ball with much more speed on the right lane and is using much higher and a more speedy approach which sometimes causes him to lift his balance leg. Edit: he does this on both lanes
@@freakingape It's just very frustrating as a beginner, trying to sort out all the advices and perfect my approach. Trying to chase perfection, it's the only way to beat Norm or Jason Belmonte... or Rhino Page, or Jakob or the other Jason or even Kyle or Brad :) ...and were you bowling this week? If so, what were your scores and are you still chasing perfection?
@@captainricco2777 I did bowl avg of 210 over 5 games. Generally its just practice a lot.I used to be a heavy crancker trying to overpower the lane, but now i tone a lot of my game down so its easier to work on. One more thing is be more versaltile and flexible, certain conditions will force you to play differently and its important to accept that. I would say try to bowl on varying lane, with varying approch and oil pattern, then you will naturally learn what to change so your style is more effective in certain conditions
@@freakingape Yes, I do notice changes in conditions from lane to lane and day to day (I try to get at least 6 games in every day). I practice for 6 frames then try to rescue the game to at least a 156 by the end. Something has happened to my whole game as I was bowling in the 200's with a lot of Brooklyns. Now I haven't had a 200 in weeks, but, am steady in the 150's and 160's. I'm running out of time to get to a 200 average so I can earn my PBA card and try out for next tour season. :) Are you bowling today??
@@captainricco2777 Unfortunately no I wont be bowling. A lot of brooklyn maybe a sign of you pulling your shots or targeting problems. I would suggest watching some of JR Raymond youtube channel especially when it comes to grip exercise and what to do while you are training. Try doing Norm spare game too, where you shoot the 10 and 7 pin without hitting any other pin as that can help immensely on your spare game.
Jay ... typically, one team bowls on one lane and you switch to ensure one team doesn’t get a much different lane. Keeps it fair. It also helps the matches go faster because while one lane is resetting, they can bowl on the opposite lane. Lastly, it evens out left vs right handed bowlers having the ball return in the way.
@@Jay-bd2zk They also use two separate oil patterns on each lane. If you look carefully, you can see that when the two bowl the ball trajectory and spin look different when they interchange lanes. The program also shows how the oil is applied using the blue shaded region that they show off on the side.
