Awesome walkthrough!!! I lovehow you break everything down from the design and the thought process of how you want the feel of the attraction to be interpreted! Thank you for another greatly anticipated video!!!
Thank you so much for this commentary Don! Splash Mountain is my favorite attraction thought up by the creatives at Disney like yourself. I absolutely adore all three versions, so this was such a treat to listen to. It was super interesting to hear how much of this version was done as an improvement over what didn't work at Disneyland and how well you all were able to utilize the limited space available. If you don't mind, I have a question. At Disneyland, right before you encounter the two vultures, the scene with the rabbits and possums singing their lament about Brer Rabbit's fate was cut from the other two versions of the attraction. Do you know why? Regardless, I really appreciate you taking the time to breakdown and go into depth about this wonderful attraction!
Thank you Don! I am recreating splash mountain in VR and have been needing references and this is perfect! If you have any more of these concept photos/art I would love it.
Excellent! Let me know how I can help. Sadly I don't have any of the blueprints or elevations which I know would be important to get the scale right. If I stumble on anything I will let you know. This could be a good start though: www.flickr.com/photos/63631877@N00/albums/72157628755305985/with/8862150994
Don, I just caught up with this video, and this was so awesome! It was like riding Splash Mountain with you, and even better because you could stop and really look at each scene. I'll admit that I had never seen that book with instructions for catching a rabbit in all my rides. Good stuff! I've yet to ride Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but I'm looking forward to checking out the new ride. Thanks for doing such an awesome video!
Absolutely amazing commentary. Splash Mountain was my favorite ride at Disney World. I miss the ride a lot, but I’m really looking forward to a Tiana’s Bayou adventure. You have to do a commentary on Tiana’s bayou adventure after it’s completed if you get a chance or take requests.
AMAZING video Don. Those 3D concept models are so cool. Any idea why Brer Rabbit is grey in the attraction, but brown in the statues near the queue? I noticed he is brown in concept models too.
It has been a while, my guess is that the choice was to match Disneyland's Brer Rabbit, some of who were repurposed rabbit animatronic figures from America Sings?
Me! A whole bunch of others… we have a lot of catching up to do with Don who is a trailblazer. Also look up ‘Imagineering Disney’ who is making a righteous looking ‘Sword in the Stone’ water dark ride in Blender.
Splash was an absolute Chef's Kiss of Imagineering. It will live on in our memory among the lost Gods
I really hope more Imagineers do commentaries like this! Wonderful insight!
I would love to see that!
Love to see this! It was my favourite attraction of all time. I will miss it dearly.

I would definitely let the Tiana team commend on their design but I am just as in seeing it finished and open.
This is fascinating thank you
I'm sad to see the original retire, but still excited to see what they do with the update.
Thank you for making this!

@@darkridearts What attractions are you doing. i would love to see someone remake the old Peter Pan Flight
And Tokyo
Agreed, and it is likely to stay that way!
If only I had $2billion to spend.
I have happen to come into that 2 billion dollars maybe you could remove the mess that is the Tiana mountain and bring back splash mountain
