Absolutely starstruck that you've replied. I think the talking element gives many of us an insight into the work and effort that is needed to achieve such a goal. It personally gives me the starting blocks to at least give something a go. And next time I will spell awesome correctly 😉 Thanks Garrett 🤘
This is phenomenal stuff! Even though you had no videos to go from, you got the feel down awesomely! I've had the luxury of watching the playthrough vid from Brandon's YT channel and slowing it down to learn, so note choice was dead easy, but I'm still new to economy picking so it's proving pretty darn tough to see what his picking hand is doing to actually play it correctly haha. Literally been doing like you said for a while now and just practicing to master new techniques before even thinking about filming a proper cover.
Was looking to combine my best 2 bands / the ones I have listened to the most in the last 20 years and I searched for "alexi laiho tbdm cover" as if there would be any results ahah.. the first link brought me to your channel. After watching a few secs I immediately subbed. You are really talented but i'm sure you already know. The MPE t-shirt was nice (also a big fan) but then i realized you do also have some TBDM videos...I had that hair 2 years ago and still regret shaving it, i'm jealous (mostly for the skills but the hair a bit as well). Was looking at the youtube suggested vids from your channel and they are all bands I thought I was the only one appreciating, can't wait to seek through all your content!
What gauge strings would you recommend for C standard? I always have issues with buzzing no matter how I try and set up my rig and the 3rd string always seems dull.
Garrett is using 11-54s here I believe, but he's on a 24.75" scale. That's pretty much what I would use on my 25.5" scale as well. I think he said in the video that it really helped him to nail Brandon's crazy vibrato. Consider beefing up the low strings a little if you're gonna be playing rhythm in C standard though.
Do you know what kind of pickups is brandon ellis using in his custom ESP, the black one with like a green eathquake finish, he always uses it live with TBDM, I know he drops seymour duncans in all his guitars but just dont know which refference... or what kind of pickups would you recommend for playing this kinds of metal bands? I got a shecter hellraiser, was wondering which kind of pickups should I get (it got the emgs 81/60 I think), also got an other question, do you think wood really matters in a sound of an electric guitar in this kind of music, with all the effects and stuff? beacuse I was thinking about selling the schecter and making one my own. thanks!
Matching the Brandon Ellis vibrato is absolutely insane, so powerful and crazy wide.
Duuuude!! Awesome! That vibrato \m/ \m/

I LOVE that sweeping part 0:17
Hell yes you actually played the whole thing with the intro riff part as well! Alot of people leave that part out for some reason! So good man!!

Dude, which pickups are you using here ?
These are actually some Suhr pickups, I have the thornbucker in the neck and the Doug Aldrich in the bridge
