    There is a mod that makes solar flares stun mechanoids it's called Solar Flares Affect Mechanoids.

    you should probably get mortars so you can trigger mechs or raids easier
    even if they're inaccurate its better than risking a pawn to do it

      We will be, but we had more important things up until now. We will see where we can fit it in.
      *edit* my major issue with the inaccuracy also goes away when you can get 50 pawns in them :D

    As was mentioned, mortars are a prime research , both for ships and sieges. Carpets less so.

      Mechs also have a leash range unless continually reaggroed.

    All these people suggesting mortars... I've not used mortars against ships for a while. I take advantage of mechs' desire to stay near their ships and have two of my best shots go out and pivot in and out of the range that the mechs aggro. I'll have a few spots marked with plans for where to stand within/outside aggro, then have one pawn go between inner/outer spots while the other waits to take shots outside of aggro range. Really good against Centipedes, but Scythers will usually just push, so have an initial squad to take care of them (either in field or pull them into defenses). Anti-material rifle, if you have the mod for it (I think it's Vanilla Expanded - Weapons), is almost made for doing this (higher power sniper, with slightly less range & move speed penalty). Only problem is it's somewhat micro intensive, but mood management is easier since it's just two pawns and they can leave and come back basically whenever.
    Edit: It looked like the Lancers and Pikemen were following your colonists when they had line of sight, but stopped once they left line of sight. This matches my experience in that they tend to stick around if they can fire at my pawns in the above strategy. I'm wondering if you had a bait pawn further out but with sight lines to the mechs if they would have chased them further (and maybe made for a good ambush by pawns staying near the mountain as the mech rounded the corner). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Do they agro more if you hit the ship.? Possibly research mortars?

      If the ship is destroyed they will rush us but that's a bit tricky when they are around it. And mortars are a big 4000 point research, we will have to look at if other easier things are more important.

    You may not be using the Dwarf Therapi.. I mean Work Manager correctly, add constructors in the DFHac.. I mean options rather than to disallow management and leave their raggy clunky job order +Construction

      Mechs defend their stuff, mortar their stuff till it's gone then they'll come to the closest beds or buildings.

    I think mechs only attack when you've damaged the ship to... 80%? 50%? Something like that.
    Tbh I thought you knew that and had only forgotten in the last episode or I would have commented yesterday, but apparently you're too used to using air strikes or mortars...

      They only directly attack after that, but when you get them hostile they follow you some, you seen it with vulture yesterday when we pulled the scythers much much further. As soon as we were right beside them they would de-aggro basically instantly

      its a massive research cost and we are doing alright with power. The water is much cheaper and we got lots to work with so it makes more sense

    Yeah, It's basically pronouced erin. I just prefer that spelling better.
