  • Yleana Bautista performs Cervante's Cuban Serenade. This piece is not very played.
"Is our job, as artists, speak about what is ours and immediately. In the case of the music, form parts of our roots. When somebody plays it, the people notice that is very good music, interesting and beautiful.
Is true that are more the composers that we know, but are more who are in anonymity.
Latin Merica, in musical therms, stills a virgin subconscious to be uncovered"

How much a music like this, that enraptures the soul, tells more about the society and history the composer was living in. No history book can describe the present or past as well a piece of music. History books only deal with dates, statistics, wars, names that, fortunately, become meaningless with the inexorable pass of time. AH, BUT THE MUSIC OF ITS TIME IS UNPERISHABLE.

This is what it would sound like, if Tchaikovsky, Strauss, Brahms, Chopin and Rachmaninoff got together for a party and just jammed the night away. It's possible to hear aspects of them in his music, and yet it is completely original and completely Cuban. Fantastico!

Hello Gabriel. I am a fan of I. Cervantes’ music but in your video the surprise came from the fine piano playing of your teacher. Amazing intonation and clarity, various levels of dynamics make her a wonderful artist. Tell us more about her.

She studied in Kiev with Alexander Alexandrov, which studied with Neuhaus and Blumenfeld if I don't have mistake. She reached in Mexico since early 90's till 2013. Right now she lives in Querétaro, México. :)

Hey, thanks a lot for your comment. :) The pianist is Yleana Bautista de la Torre.
It's from the CD "Impresiones". Honestly, I do not know where you can get it, but I think I can send you some of her music. :) She was my professor.

I am of the opinion that sometimes brilliant, outstanding musical jewels are vulgarazied and become pedestrian due to being over played and over abused and, unwillingly perhaps, neglecting other inspired and accomplished pieces by the same composer. All of a sudden, Crmen by Georges Bizet, came to my mind ... and that´s not the only victim.
