They are rather broadcasting some sweaty grown men in Alaska 😂 kneedeep in the mud searching for some gold flakes. No wonder the youth of today doesnt know shit about the world 😂🤔
I remember in the 80’s when Discovery channel wasn’t showing haunted houses and ghost. Some of the first episodes had some badass guitar playing in the soundtrack. A lot of it sounds like David Gilmore.
You know the Libya incident was caused by a wrong radar setting in the F-14, the MIG never turned in on them. It looked that way because of the radar 😂
Old but Gold The F-14 would’ve been a much more capable platform if it was further upgraded, but I guess due to expensive maintenance, the Navy decided to retire them. It’s sad they’re not around anymore except Iran.
Navy doesn't regret retiring them, but they do miss having a platform doing the mission set that the Tomcat was able to perform. Truly incredible jet in terms of raw performance and its capability as a weapons system.
Most wonderful, informative documentary coverage video about F-14 Tomecat aircraft & it's successful striking against Mig23 of Libyan 🇱🇾 airforces...video obviously showed that US aircraft's are striking ..Foe airforces by completely offensive systems that participants several kinds of aircraft supporters besides clearly, obvious orders & permissions... not sending two or three isolated aircraft's with full hesitation & far from supporters....also video showed superiority of F-14 Tomecat & best influenced of (Top gun ) training of dogfights ..Mike Guardia channel always introduces excellent subjects
I’m sure some of the scenes were recycled in the short lived TV series “Supercarrier”. And speaking of which I don’t think any F/A-18 jock could just transfer over to F-14s so fast (i’m looking at you “Sierra”).
Eh? We’re you the weapons selector switch in that F14 in your previous life? “I swear he never switched me on! Just wait till I become a human being in my next life - I’ll tell the world what happened!”🙄
@@dslcp72 First off fuck-stick, if you LISTEN to him he says "I don't have a fucking TONE..." There is one way that doesn't happen - he's not on the right switch setting. Like I said there is a REASON that the OTHER Tomcat crew got BZs and this crew, the one where the RIO was not selecting the proper weapon setting, did NOT get that same positive recognition. Believe it or not, Naval Aviators do these things called "murder boards" where the objective is to look critically at an engagement, deployment, or a particular action, with the goal being to dissect things and be "hard on the problems, not the people". So, your stupid ass comments about being the weapons selector in a previous life aside, no, we covered that ground in other areas and ways to learn what happened and improve.
It was a great aircraft just developed way too quickly. It was way too big for a carrier and way too costly and took way too many hours to keep in the air. It took almost five times as much maintenance work as airtime . Great idea I just needed better execution
haha the simulator bit of this video..... here is me sitting on my pc in my bedroom using a more advanced simulator (DCS). with my cheapo joystick and MFDS. loololol.
@@brickbrosstudio2648 yep..the F/A -18 was originaly inteded to be built in 2 seperate versions ....the ground Attack model known as the A-18 and the fighter model knows as the F-18 nut the designers realised they could incorporate both systems into the 1 aorframe hence the desigmation being combined and changed to F/A-18.
No, it wasn't. It was good, but the Hornet carries a wider array of ordnance and carries *more* of it. The F-14 was a good aircraft, not some Jedi wonder-weapon that dissolved enemy planes by simply locking them up..
I loved the Tom Cat but in reality, it was obsolete and any other aircraft carrier protector when it went into service became the Russians would have used nuclear missiles to destroy US aircraft carriers not bombers.
I miss when Discovery aired shows like this. Educational and entertaining. The same goes for History channel as well. Thank you for posting this.

Keep up the great work!!! We need to enjoy and preserve these fantastic films
This: “It’s not the plane you’re flying, it’s how you fly the plane”
TGMaverick: “It’s not the plane, it’s the pilot”
I'm loving the uploads, I'm spending my while Thanksgiving vacation watching fighter jet videos
Me too! 😂
Bro same!!!!
Thank you Mike for taking time to post this video.
Retired Army Infantryman.

the F-14 Tomcat and Panavia Tornado are my favourite warplanes 😊

When the decision came down, it was taking 6 crew hours to keep a single F-14 in the air for one hour.
During the test phase the F-14 carried bombs. But the Navy said intercepter and someday bomber
The KA-6D is the Tomcat's best friend.
Tomcat for life.

My older brother was an avionics tech in vf32
I was an AE3 in VF-32, 89-92
Awesome plane!

How come EVERY F-14 documentary turns into yet ANOTHER Top Gun school documentary...Smfh
this was the USS Nimitz VF-84 or VF-41 not the Kennedy it was CAG-8
Libyan family in a Senna on a day trip to Malta .... f'ed up by two F14s ... f* yeah!
I have Aerofax Minigraph 3 Grumman F-14A/B and (2) F-14 Tomcat in action books.
January 4th NOT 15th !
The Tomcat in Libya didn't have a tone, because he screwed up the weapons selector. That's why THAT crew didn't get BZs and the OTHER crew *did*.
Ty for the 411

The F-14 was a better bomber than F-18.

It’s comes down to the skill of the pilot
90 percent human interface with a weapons system aircraft can produce 9gs nominal 12 possible pilots on average can’t handle 9gs without g-lock
