They really should've allowed Nightsworn Sight to proc instantly from getting a precision hit to make it a bit easier to activate against big targets. Also, what were they thinking with Loose Change and Stats for All? It's like someone on the design team was completely unaware that it reloads like a rifle instead of like a typical shotgun. And speaking of, I wish Bungie would do more craftable catalysts like Wish Keeper, that actually interact with the unique part of the exotic instead of just being perks you an get on a legendary weapon.
I think the idea behind those two is that Stats4all procs from the scatterrounds hitting other ads and loose change procs when you get nightsworn active and apply weaken. Also yeah the reload animation almost looks like it was intended to load like a traditional shotgun at some point.
it’s a gun with a ton of different utilities and features but no single outstanding niche. I think its relevance will depend on artifact perks a lot more than the average exotic (which is fun because it has lots of opportunities for fun interactions - but NOT fun because if it could just pick ONE thing to be really good at I’d use it all the time)
@@djungelskog9581 Fingers crossed Bungie actually adds it to the fun when the artifact perk leaves, or whatever use it's getting now will drop off drastically.

I love all of this. Unfortunately destiny has been an assembly line of updates being checked boxes and this just happens to be the "we gave you guys an exotic because we had to" gun rather than one that got any amount of flavor

About the anti barrier thing, i saw a comment on another video that i thought fit really well. This is supposed to be the "anti-vampire" gun right? What champion is most similar to a vampire? Overload captains! Regenerating health, non stop teleportation, that kind of thing. I think it fits that if you agree that overloads are the most vampire-like champion

it also should be noted that the submunitions don’t have the same range limitations as the main shot. if you think a dude is out of one-shot range you can shoot the floor in front of them or the wall behind and it might get the kill off. it’s a ton of fun when you can pull it off
Void deserved these back to back exotics seeing its stuck with Borealis (an actual void exotic sniper would have been so cool 😭), Hardlight was once a weapon, and colony and truth are funny. Black talon is my baby and will not be slandered (plz buff)
Slayers Fang suffers from bungie's poor balancing of specials especially shotguns(pellet spreads only being one two punch and trench barrel platforms, not you using a shotgun because a shotgun in general would be good for whatever activity you're doing), bungie giving us normal legendary perks for every craftable exotic "catalyst" instead of unique perks that are built to boost an exotic perk in what its supposed to be good at (DMT and outbreak don't count because their catalysts were built in before ever being craftable so the legendary perks just stacked on top of already good weapons and wish ender was the only craftable exotic to ACTUALLY get unique perks that boosted the exotic perk just for vorpal and hatchling to still have higher pick rates because the unique perks were poorly designed and shouldn't have had to compete with legendary perks to begin with), and bungie doubling down by picking objectively some of the worst legendary perks currently in circulation for this weapons catalyst options. Anyone who activity plays the game can list at least 5 perks that would genuinely be better for this shotgun without really trying even with the average playerbases collective knowledge going down as the game is hemorrhaging players.
It needs more range to be used in higher teir content because almost every GM has the LONGEST ranges. If it had a catalyst that made you invisible then I would be more likely to use it in GM level content, either way fun exotic to use and it works pretty well for a shotgun.
Fr I'd rather an invisibility perk rather than an overshield perk. Makes much more sense with the low reserves and weaken to help it play into an assassin style of weapon
I use a Devour based Voidwalker build with Skull of Dire Ahamkara. I activate Devour and volatile rounds with Scatter grenades to turn Slayer’s Fang into a pocket nuke that grants Nova Bomb energy more quickly than a roaming super. The true sight is also useful in finding enemies to extend Devour. With Repulsor Brace, I become very difficult to kill in swarming situations with the intrinsic weaken on top of volatile rounds.
Use that prismatic titan and use bravery with that shotty. Still using mark with synthis/hoil. Using fang of irut. Scout barrier plus your melee built procs the raid perk. Then using wicked sister for strand to proc unraveling rounds on both strand weapons. You get volitile rounds for the shotty. No brainer. Super broke.
The heart piercer perk is kinda weak like the projectile splits and it stuns overloads I might’ve added split projectiles hits cause targets to become volatile to cause more chaos or hits or kills whatever seems more fair would cause the nightsworn perk to stack up to idk 3-5 that buffs the perk depending on the stack. The gun is fun and the seemingly extra scorn damage is also a good if that part stays but it’s a meh gun overall, does have a cool reload animation
Conditional Finality is fun in terms of regular Destiny gameplay, but as for Slayer's Fang this shotgun brings you back the Craftinin glitch days and has that Warframe style of weapondary that makes it good.
It really is the perfect “meh” exotic. If I want to use a void special exotic for weaken I’m throwing on buried bloodline. If I want to slay out, I throw on Choir of One. This thing just doesn’t do anything good enough to warrant a use
Its alright and the reload to fully fill the pipe of the gun with 1 bullet is really appreciated as QoL but feels a little too safe and tame on the whole void-verbs aspect of the gun. Its not that it needs to do 1 quadrillion DPS per successful tax evasion to be good , just something a bit more unique in playstyle. If you want to go and apply weaken frequently, there's more than 1 exotic already that can help with that and now even some legendaries do that. Maybe they could have leaned into void invisibility and give the gun a massive damage bonus when firing while invisible , grant massive movement speed and give it ways to reasonably go invisible on its own so you could use this like a high burst mini-boss killer weapon. Like the stake you use to pierce into a vampire's heart. For now it seems like almost any other void weapon that plays with commonly used verbs. Its alright.
I wish more of these craft able exotics had catalysts like Wish-Keeper instead if just using legendary perks. Imagine if instead of cascade point, a perk that requires oyu to use the gun in a eay thats incompatible with its exotic traits, there was acatalyst that improved Rate of Fire while Nightworn Sight is active. Things along those lines are way more interesting than just slapping a legendary perk onto the weapon.
the only reason this weapon has any usage is because of the mid artifact mods. It honestly kind of sucks and the ammo economy is very bad. The weapon also weakens yourself if one of the projectiles hits you.
I fw the shotgun heavy, used it on gfalcon in expert kelle falls runs and it holds up. Definitely suited for up close and personal ad dense encounters and not the long range playstyle of most GMs. Only gripe is most the catalysts are pointless and I’d argue it’s better as intrinsic anti barrier since the exotic perk is literally called “heart piercer”
They should've made Slayers Fang a primary ammo Shotgun but have its damage be reduced in PvP similar to micro missile frame grenade launchers. Also side note fighting lion should be changed to a micro missile frame and it should cause Volatile on hit rather then direct impact only.
I'm using this shotgun with Repulsor Brace, the exotic No Backup Plans on Prismatic Titan, and it's working very well I think, well, I say this without having the Conditional Finality (which probably explains a lot)
destiny is having the borderlands 3 issue now, so much loot, but none of it matters, a cool shotgun outshined by something that came out years ago. its difficult to make people care about anything new unless is borderline OP or is unique enough to say it hasn't been done before. too much loot might sound like a good thing, but when it doesn't mean anything to the player, its just another plasma coil. a better version of the flipper. IYKYK
No the problem doesn't lay in the amount of loot, but the expectation that everything must be OP epic or outshine what came out before. Because you either get no exotic or exotics that don't reach those expectations. Both things the playerbase can't cope with. Legit its a problem the players have created themselves. Feeling you need meta, feeling you must be able to epic delete everyone in your end game content, and content creators who have 0 life and only play a couple games who have the time to get everything voicing their own no life experience as if its fact and influence others about it, Bl1 and 2 is just as bad once people find out how to optimize shit, everyone optimizes the fun out of everything, and if your new addition to the game doesnt advance the stupid meta slave life, its deemed worthless, when the gun itself is still good in other content and still fun to use. The fact people can't put down their god roll or efficient set up to just have fun with a weapon in other activates is like the underlying issues of everything. It's the fact yall want so much, expect so much, and NEED meta to live and can't just have fun in things.
@ I wouldn’t say it’s a problem the community created. Bungie created it. For example. Over the last few years we have seen probably 4 or 5 different heavy GLs that are pretty much the same except 1 perk is the new meta option. You can definitely have fun still with the previous 4 GLs. But to say it’s the community who’s the blame for bungies poor balancing of end game is wrong. People will always chase the next best thing as long as they give it to us. That’s for any game, not just destiny. Destiny however has existed so long that the ceiling keeps creeping higher and higher where the increases are minimal, making everyone have little to no incentive to want to enjoy the new content. Why? Because I already have a GL that does the same thing. Why would I want to farm hours for something that isn’t going to change the game for me.
@@Reaperknives But what do you expect them to do? Do people not realize theres only so many things or mechanics you can add to a game? And Meta chasing is a player problem across many games, the constant need to have the best and only the best and be the best makes you all insufferable. You don't play the game to enjoy it or have fun, you play it to sweat and be the best and flex. Its annoying as hell. People used to just play things because they enjoyed them, but now because yall sweats want everything to break the game upon release, even decent gear has to be buried by loads of end game sweats bitching their pants off about how it can't break their end game. You then complain about the guns and updates being trash because end game isnt being catered to. So how about you just get off your high horse for a bit and just enjoy things? If you don't like something just don't bother with it, but you can't start judging others who do cause you don't. The whole idea of "i can only play with 1 thing or 1 perk or my builds is ruineddddddddddddd i can't insta mega dps the bosss REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" is annoying as hell. The expectation for everything to be meta or to break the game, cause its the only way to progress your stupid "end game content only is life" challenge you SELF INFLICTED on yourself, is the problem of the community. Stop expecting everything to be catered to you in that regard.
@ with all due respect, sounds like a lot of finger pointing to me. Sweats exist in any game and they have way before destiny existed. As to what I expect them to do. It’s the answer no one wants to hear. Destiny 3 or a complete reset is the only way to make loot exciting to chase again.
The problem with most recent exotics is that they don’t quite have the feel of an exotic weapon. There doesn’t seem to be any consideration for the aesthetics of an exotic. 5 examples of exotics with a great feel: Cerberus+1, Vex mythoclast, jotun, tractor cannon, Devil’s ruin and more! Now it’s more utilitarian and forcusses more on what it can do and not HOW the weapon handles! Not sure what the solution is though. Thoughts?
as far as ive been playing with, its a fun gun for sure, has some utility and fills a very specific niche, but i can see why everyone is so whelmed by it. since it doesn’t really move the needle, also if releasing after choir of one doesn’t help it’s case when choir does everything it does, but better. really does feel like a mistake releasing two back to back void exotics lol. i think it could use a buff or two, maybe allow nightsworn sight to proc on rapid precision hits and give it four extra shots in reserve (21 up to 25) would be good enough to let it have some single target utility and let you spec into weaken.
Bungie should've given this exotic intrinsic anti-barrier instead of overload (mainly bc it doesn't actually stun overloads) but the fact that its bullets are designed to look like they pierce targets. Big missed opportunity with that
It’s a real Jack of all trades, master of none. It doesn’t have a single powerful feature, just a couple of good features. It’s a solid shotgun, usable in plenty of places, just not every place.
Cascade point also procs on other weapon hits, not just kills. (So you could weaken, swap to other weapon to proc cascade point, then swap back). As to why use this shotty over others? For me, it's cuz your reload the whole mag at once, not each shell individually. That's a rare trait and comes in handy if you are using this weapon heavily.
Special exotic shotguns will always be in a weird place for me. They have a more limited use case than other special weapons. They excel an neither ad clear, nor single target damage as well as the other options and don't have deep enough ammo reserves or a fast enough reload to be used in a generalist play style.
I hate how the devs design weapons around the seasonal artifact to make them seem op. Then the next season the exotic weapons becomes ass and site in a vault to collect dust.
I’m not super hyped about shottys at base in PvP or PvE, so I’m kinda low on this one. I like getting more ways to apply weaken… but weaken doesn’t really do as much for me as Jolt or even slow as far as utility.
conditional will always be the best tool shotgun yes, very strong at that, but, for dps no, that goes to chaperone which this new shotgun still goes 2nd to so it's neat
Honestly. I'd still rather just use Lord of wolves. Just give that gun an ammo economy buff and a tiny damage bump. And it's pretty decent. Give it that and make rapid precision hits grant radiant to yourself and nearby allies. And it becomes one of the best shotguns in the game.
I kind of disagree. Having intrinsic overload on a special is S tier. The only problem with the weapon is that it stuns the overload but it is bugged and will not prevent the healing. I am enjoying Destiny 2 a lot right now with perfect paradox, this shotgun and a heavy grenade launcher, close quarter dealing with any Champion demolishing everything in my pathway. Can't wait until they have patched it so I can take it into a GM
I found it pretty arse. It's just trying to do tractor cannon's job, and is honestly overall worse than choir of one. Oh, and the self-weakening chance...bro.
Unfortunately, I don't think there's any such thing as a "god tier weapon" anymore. Any god tier weapon that pops up is made mortal by the devs a week or two later. At this point, these "meh but fun" weapons are the best we're gonna get.

Repulser Brace with No Back Up Plans seems very redundant
destiny is having the borderlands 3 issue now, so much loot, but none of it matters, a cool shotgun outshined by something that came out years ago. its difficult to make people care about anything new unless is borderline OP or is unique enough to say it hasn't been done before. too much loot might sound like a good thing, but when it doesn't mean anything to the player, its just another plasma coil. a better version of the flipper.
@@alexfirefox1487you sound unhinged
Big missed opportunity with that
We need a fresh game where we dont have a full vault of weapons if any new weapon is to stand a chance of impressing.
Yes guys I´ve heard about Adaxum, it will be absolutely huge. All major exchanges will list ADX shortly after the launch.
Doom Fang titan and lean into making orbs and void breaches and throw on a heavy destabilizing rounds LMG. Perfect
Im finding it really good for clearing ads, any enemies behind the first you shoot get shredded.
it’s a slug shotgun, enough said
Now it collects dust in my vault.
Cool shotgun, offers versatility, high damaging rounds, I see this as a win
As long as conditional finality exists then there are no other shotguns I care abaht.
I know it’s said everytime but I’m so tired of things releasing broken/bugged on release and we just have to hope it’s fixed sooner rather than later
"this thing deals bonus damage to scorn."
thats cool, until you realize that the scorn are gonna be all but extinct in a few months lmao.
I dislike how in the trailer they made it seem like the void storm thing came from the shotgun instead of the artifact
Half of the reason I love this gun is the firing sound.
I really love this gun with Repulsor Brace/Gyrfalcon’s. Feels super safe
If I want a void shotgun from an exotic quest, I'll use Choir of One.
Special exotic shotguns will always be in a weird place for me. They have a more limited use case than other special weapons. They excel an neither ad clear, nor single target damage as well as the other options and don't have deep enough ammo reserves or a fast enough reload to be used in a generalist play style.
Glad we're all on the same page.
2:52 i agree. i’ve been having much more fun with HOIL personally
I agree. This is definitely one of the exotic shotguns of all time.
I mean... cool, but will I take off my Choir of One on my Void Hunter for this shotty? Probably not.
Coinbase listing comming soon for Adaxum token.
DATTO SPEAKS
This thing is for sure one of the guns in Destiny 2.
Duality is still king for me by a large margin.
Honestly. I'd still rather just use Lord of wolves.
Just give that gun an ammo economy buff and a tiny damage bump. And it's pretty decent.
Give it that and make rapid precision hits grant radiant to yourself and nearby allies. And it becomes one of the best shotguns in the game.
the gun should have had a way to generate ammo on ricochet kill or something
TLDR I got: Gun good, but it is a shotgun. Typically not the best performing weapons. Plus Conditional exists.
It's a very whelming shotgun. It whelmed me so hard, I am whelming as we speak 👌
The roadmap for Adaxum is super ambitious. If they can deliver on even half of it, we’re in for a massive ride. ADX to the moon?
Oh..cheer up Datto for gods sake 😅
This gun is way better than conditional not as fun but definitely better
Sad 4th horseman noises
I kind of disagree. Having intrinsic overload on a special is S tier. The only problem with the weapon is that it stuns the overload but it is bugged and will not prevent the healing. I am enjoying Destiny 2 a lot right now with perfect paradox, this shotgun and a heavy grenade launcher, close quarter dealing with any Champion demolishing everything in my pathway. Can't wait until they have patched it so I can take it into a GM
So, this time, Bungie made an exotic weapon in a way they won't have to nerf it in 2 weeks.
Don't expect a buff either.
I really like it, more than conditional
I found it pretty arse. It's just trying to do tractor cannon's job, and is honestly overall worse than choir of one. Oh, and the self-weakening chance...bro.
They could've just given it discord and let us have fun
This will be good once overload GL is gone, velocity baton is too good this season
well there's still d1 exotics they can pull from i guess
I can’t believe how easy it was to join the Adaxum token ICO. Early adopters are always the ones who benefit the most-jump in before it’s too late!
I'll be honest, I don't care about shotguns, and because of revenant, I just don't have the drive to hunt this thing down.
Out of 10 what would datto rate the photoshop work of this one?
I just wish it had Discord. In the meantime, my Discord Incan slug will be my PvE shotty of choice for adclear.
Its LITERALLY free
Gyrfalcon/galanor prismatic hunter makes okish, buried bloodline still outmatches it.
Guess what no one is using shotguns in GM’s. I am glided x12 never once have I used a shotgun in a GM. This exotic is amazing. They did good.
I think Adaxum token ADX will be one of the top performers in bullrun 2025.
TBF I'ts the best energy slot shotgun, so now each slot has a true S tier with conditional, this and acrius
I think it's decent, even if it isn't the best for super high end content.
Ok beatrice
Rip dip and a skip
I will only use this when looking for witches in Ir Yut
Shame they going to nerf it in 8 weeks
How many exotic missions weapons haven't they nerfed shortly after release?
Unfortunately, I don't think there's any such thing as a "god tier weapon" anymore. Any god tier weapon that pops up is made mortal by the devs a week or two later. At this point, these "meh but fun" weapons are the best we're gonna get.
love this gun
