I enjoyed Mark's video but wanted to add my real world experience with my 12 volt EverChill compressor fridge. I've had mine for a year now. It is in my 2019 Shasta 5th wheel. I have two 215 amp hour 6 volt batteries and 400 watts of solar. When hooked up to my pickup, power comes from the truck making it very safe and efficient going down the road since there is no gas to worry about. As far as heat, it is minimal since the compressor does not run continuously. Besides, where do you think a lot of your air conditioning goes with that big hole behind you gas/elec fridge? When you first turn the fridge on, it uses about 10 amps to do the initial cool down. After that, it uses less then 4 amps to maintain the temperature. And that only happens when the compressor is running. I have boondocked for 5 days and never went below 80% on my batteries. Don't get me wrong, if you have very cloudy sky's for a few days you might need your genny but I never did. I have owned both gas/elec and residential fridge equipped rvs and this 12 volt has worked out much better then either of them.

Just an add for Vitrifrigo, nothing more.
To bad they didn't use my absorption Dometic 6.2 for comparison. At 80F it will cool refrigerator down to 33F and freezer down to 2F in 4 hours.
Dont forget, dry camping almost out of question unless you have large (expensive) battery banks and solar, so please calculate those cost into ownership.

Wow! Just wow. I've followed Mark and this channel to learn about RVs, including new, innovative and helpful products. Unfortunately, the only thing I learned from this video is what a sell-out and a paid endorsement looks like. How much did you earn every time you said the V-word? One would think when comparing technologies that a brief overview of how they work and how they differ would be mentioned. There is no doubt that compressor-type technology cools better and faster than absorption, that's why it is in every other type of refrigeration outside of an RV, and why it is even gaining traction in the RV market. However, that superiority comes at a cost of electricity. How much? I don't know. Mark didn't mention it when he was reading off of the sales brochure. I'm happy to see this V-word company enter the North American RV market to offer more choices for consumers. For those who spend most of their time in parks and plug in, these seem to be a great option for replacement or upgrade of a traditional absorption type RV fridge. I'd like to see the numbers and real world testing on the electrical requirements of these little compressor units to see how they work with what most people have...a single battery.

There are times when we are under contract, there are other times when we review a product for a company, and in most cases we educate consumers on how to use and maintain their RVs. We are a small video production company, specializing in educating RV consumers. But as a business owner I have every right to produce sponsored videos, product reviews and work for hire if I feel the product is worthy of representation. You would probably be shocked by the amount of work I turn down simply because I would not personally use or promote the product.
New technology happens everyday in the RV industry. Vitrifrigo has proven their compressor technology in the marine industry for more than 15 years, and has been in business for over 50 years. When a company wants to get a product into the North American marketplace they need exposure. Vitrifrigo’s compressor technology is advanced, and their refrigerators are quality products. I was introduced to the products over two years ago at a trade show and we stayed in touch with each other ever since. When the time came to get some added exposure we were hired to conduct a fair and balanced test, comparing AC/DC compressor technology to the common RV absorption refrigerator. That’s all it is.

Any compressor refrigerator will out perform any absorption refrigerator hands down! One reason I ordered my new fifth wheel with a 12 vdc compressor refrigerator!

I think the MSRP should be mentioned. I've only seen one model of the Vitrifrigo and it was almost 2K. For that kind of cost, I'd just go with a residential refrigerator, assuming, I didn't want a refrigerator that will run for a month or longer on propane.

absorption fridges will stay colder long without power , but on the other hand my new Rockwood came with a 12 volt fridge ...we will see how it all plays out !

I don't understand the fascination with the Vitrifrigo. If the label is correct that's a LOT more power draw than a regular household refrigerator. I've checked mine and it uses less than .5 amps with the compressor running. Vitrifrigo refrigerators are very expensive. Just buy a small Whirlpool residential refrigerator and be thankful that your RV refrigerator quit. When our RV refrigerator failed it was the best failure we've ever had in our RV.

Missed a big CON with the absorption... lots of condensation and sometimes ice formation on the cooling fins in the fridge. we've had massive amounts of ice and the need to defrost completely frozen up fins and rear of the fridge.

Just what I want, a 12V fridge kicking hot air into my living space. Okay in the winter, not in the summer.

You also want to be burned to death when your LP fridge catches fire and bbq's you. Yes RV LP fridge are the singles biggest causes of RV fires. OHH and now insurance companies will charge more if you have LP based system or electric only.

Like the technology and efficiency, but until it becomes o.m.g. not open to a retrofit.

We need to know how to repair water damage on side and front panels with the fiberglass on our toyhauler. Does anyone have any links or info they can share? Basically how do you not break the “skin” when replacing the underneath wood walls.
