Volvo XC 90 and VW Tiguan riding out in winterstorm Tristan

- On February 7.th 2021, winterstorm "Tristan" reached parts of northern Germany and we rode out with the Volvo and the Tiguan to seek the snow.
-7°C and lots of snow, publik forest roads, some nice hillclimbs, beautiful nature and finally the snowstorm made our trip complete.

Well done ,again, Bjorn.I'd hopped to try my own XC90 this past winter....but due to the close down of the Ski stations in France,i didn't get to see any snow this year....and in southern France....not even a lost snowflake. Keep the videos coming ;)

Bei uns hat das Schulamt wegen ein paar Schneeflocken die Grundschulen dicht gemacht 🙄 Wir hatten hier nicht mal ein Viertel des Schnees, den ihr augenscheinlich abbekommen habt.
😉 wir mussten auch schon bis kurz hinter Uelzen fahren😅

Fahr mal nach Münster. Selbst die Bundesstraßen sehen da noch so aus. Von den Nebenstraßen ganz zu schweigen.
@@uraltprotter8252 in Norddeutschland sind 10cm eben schon Tiefschnee 🤣 zumindest fahren dann alle so... vor 20 Jahren war das hier auch noch normal

No, DSTC (Drive System Traction Control) brakes the slipping wheel, so it has its benefits on the road or when the car is stuck. But it kills your momentum when the car is still moving and helps to get stuck😖
So on the road and when you're stuck or on ice it helps, but on loose ground it is better switched off 😁👍🏼

at least you went properly prepared ; with spades and other gear to get you out of being stuck
🙂👍🏼Of course, I'd never take the risk of gettin stuck and bringing someones life in danger, neither family or friends, nor emergency rescue forces.
In fact I'll help or recover other people/cars when possible more often, as the gear is in the car anyways😅

Moin, ich habe gerade mal geguckt, unter "Volvo xc90 bug deflector" gibt es aktuell einige Anbieter bei google zu finden.
Meinen hatte ich vor einigen Jahren aus Litauen.

I'm sad... a year ago we was going sky to Gore Mountain, highway had a thin blanket of snow... my XC90 2005 T5 was skiing on the highway! little Toyota corollas were passing by I couldn't go more than 40mph!!!! when I finally got to my hotel car got stuck on some little hill covered with snow... I was heart broken but I wanted to give it a second shot... then this past january snowed like hell in NYC car got stuck everywhere even in front of my house which make me even angry at it... it was 2" of snow... and it got stock!!! I used the W button but it just didn't work then I used the DTSC button... In the highway maybe I use the DTSC without stopping i don't remember... I was scared as hell never felt a car doing that.. I had a pathfinder 2002 and it was a real monster on the snow... I'm selling my car... I love the space it has and the mpg i get out of it... I really need advice... I love the car but not good in snow is really no sense to keep it since I have to go to work when it snows and I love snowboard so i'm supposed to be chasing storms... PLEASE HEEELLPPP!!!!!!!

I think something may be broken, as this behaviour is really strange and uncommon, more common is Haldex seized up or angle wheel connection to the propeller shaft may be broken, so while slipping, your car would start to transfer 50% power into nothing...
Can you check if your AWD is working correctly? There are several vids how to do that.
Because maybe your XC90 is a front driven only ... now. 😓 And that could explain that strange problems. I think you're driving proper winter tires?
I had that problem too, the connection between angle drive to the propeller shaft had been grinded out, and that part should have been reinforced from 2006 on.
You would not recognize any different behaviour or noise, just a lack of power when there should be AWD.

Yes i guess is an awd … like I said not sure if when I turned the DTSC off I was supposed to stop for it to work and I never did … and or I was waiting for an instant change … tires well they weren’t winter tires but like I said I saw small cars like corollas driving faster than me … I’ll keep you posted and thanks for replying! 👍

In northern Germany we are not used to snow, and everybody drives with 20kmh then... 😆
You can’t turn the DSTC Off in my XC90. There is no button for it.
The music ruined it all
I guess you may have a different music-taste as the other 780 fans 🤷♂️ I would prefer AC/DC, ZZ-Top etc.... but than my vids would be blocked again 😖
