Rumors don't equate to one's "double life".
I burned out on her way back, when her food and craft presentations were things myself and millions of people were doing all along on our own. Now Paula Dean, wow, the woman has somethong very special. Dean has cook in her soul and her demeanor is just warm and magnetic, and puts you at ease. Ray has had a demeanor of enthusiasm that's a bit overboard. Watching her was like anticipating that any moment she might mellow out a bit.
By day she's a chef, by night she's Becky with the good hair.

Bad tipper was the worst thing! I have a brother who is a bar tender and waiter at the hottest restaurant in Phoenix. He interacts with celebrities and has told me stories about celebs that don't tip well or are rude to the wait staff.

As a Republican, I love the part about devious politics. To me, the media is ALWAYS lecturing us about being bipartisan when all along they are guilty of having an agenda. They is almost completely progressive and leaning to the left with their bias while censoring Republicans and ignoring the right. She is a part of that.
True or not, I don't know. I do know that I sat next to her on a plane once and, as I'm a white-knuckled flyer, she was very sweet to me, patted my hand and talked about how safe flying was, etc. We chatted during the one hour flight and I found her very pleasant. She also thanked the airline hostess as we left the plane.

Rachel used to be enjoying to watch as the grounded upstate New Yorker with great shows like 30 minute meals, $40.00 a day etc. then Oprah swooped in and made her as obnoxious and self absorbed as she is. Both Oprah and Rachel should get over themselves and Rachel should come down off her high horse and return to her wholesome self. Oprah should stop trying to create a whole industry of self absorbed preachers and stop trying to rule the world.
HOLY SHIT!!! People are soooooooo sick. Just like always "Let's attack somebody that's successful because we're not." I never met her, but she comes from my town and everybody that knows her says the same thing about her "She's one of the most down to earth people you'll ever meet." She still shops in the regular food stores when she's home and talks to everybody. Stop bashing people just because they made something out of their life and you didn't.
I gave my two dogs her food and they both contracted big tumors, it cost me a lot to save their lives. My Labrador now has a damaged liver. I am giving them now home made food.
I've read other statements that her food made dogs and cats sick. We believe our cat became ill from her food. I hope your babies are doing better.

I gave up on Rachael Ray when she was trying to tell people how to cook beans She said it's very important to brine your beans before cooking them. Anybody who's ever cooked one bean knows that's the exact opposite of what you should do. If you soak your beans in salt water they'll never get tender. I was watching it with a Mexican lady, who's cooked plenty of beans, and she said,"Oh she doesn't know what the Hell she's talking about."

That's an old wives tale. Cooking experts/chefs usually advise soaking and cooking the beans with salted water.
"According to Cook's Illustrated, it all has to do with the calcium and magnesium ions in bean skins. As the beans soak and cook, sodium ions in salted water will gradually replace some of those calcium and magnesium ions, which in turn allows for greater water penetration into bean cells. This is particularly true of the tough outer skins of beans.
When unsalted beans cook, their interiors can end up swelling faster than their skins can keep up with, resulting in skins that rupture instead of enlarging along with the rest of the bean. Salted beans will grow proportionally, resulting in fully tender, creamy, intact beans that are well seasoned throughout.
Moral of the story? Make sure to salt your bean-soaking water to the tune of one tablespoon per quart (15 grams per liter), and season the bean-cooking water as well. Just don't season the cooking water too heavily-it can reduce and become too salty to eat as the beans cook"

I like that they talk about her being a cheap tipper and use 10% as the example. Then on the example that they show to support this rumor, then show a 15% tip. They then later reference that same 15% tip as being cheap. And, of course, the show as also $40 per day. Tipping much more and it would have to be $55 per day.
Grant it, I tip much more than that, but that is still not a bad tip when you look at the calculation method that many people use which is a simple percentage of the tab.
I worked with a rich lady in Manhattan and her friend, worked fire a Talent Agency AND SHE TOLD ME, that both Rachael Ray and Bobby Flay comes in all the time And she said THEY ARE NASTY but she said Guy Richie is nice

Tipping is optional. Should be glad they got a tip at all. Much of this is just gossip anyways. No proof that she said anything bad about Oprah, husband swinging, tipping, etc... Even the issue with her wearing a scarf was stupid.
I question the terms: Critics or experts, commonly used by media people when they don't really know whom to blame but they want to say something about something or somebody.
I actually grew up in the same town as her, I go to her mom's diner and know people who know her and I've only heard terrible things about her which is really disappointing :(

Well it's true. If you somehow manage to get your own television show and become a known celeb, are you telling me that you'd never do anything to upset a fan? Regarding the tipping thing: in Australia people don't rely on tipping for living wages as everyone is paid a minimum wage that increases progressively. Eg. Under the Food, Beverage & Tobacco Manufacturing Award it covers allowances, penalties and overtime pay which means your hourly pay, and working Saturdays and Sundays or the comparative day to night shift. This is why it is important to unionise - workers rights are everybody's rights.

Rachael Ray, my fiance told me actually ran into her one day, in NYC and Rachael Ray, according to my fiance, never apologized and in fact, was rude and gave no apology.
Rachael Ray clogged my toilet once at a dinner party, and totally denied it.
I live in the same area where Rachel Ray grew up, I knew a couple of people who went to school with her who used to tell us she was easier to make than a peanut butter sandwich, again, that's what they said. I also know a couple who used to run a limo company that would run her parents from one part of NY to NYC and they said her parents were lousy tippers and were total whine asses. So I can see where the lousy tipper comes from.

One 10% TIP? so what. 10% is bad to fare service. Just because she has a food centered career, the person who got the 10% should shut up and think of what they could do better. The tip can also be a message to the kitchen. I have told a waitress on a few occations that her tip was 10% because of the food. I would tell her that the rest of her tip was a suggestion to tell the manager or find another resteraunt.
So that TIP bit is not valid unless you can put the two places together.

Anyone that has ever watched her on television as she cooks would never, EVER, eat anything she prepares! My mother was on one of her shows and modeled. She drove out to New York just for the shoot but when she returned she claimed that Ray was cruel and rude to the staff. Ray didn't really talk to the models at all made her superiority known to them.

She remembers people's names & acknowledges them, supports her hubby in his music band and other musicians as well, and her staff does like her . - but she has a right to her personal time off stage. Could any of you critics do what she does, like be ON each and every day for an audience? Until you've done it, keep your trap shut. The tough cookies are Oprah and Rosie O'Donnell. Oprah expects her minions to be on call 24/7 and Rosie's staff eventually runs out the door - thus, no more show! Rosie hardly has a good word to say about anybody.
