Pretty obvious the reasons why 4Kids took out the parts with the police station and bar. Guess it's true what they say:unless you're Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam,NO guns allowed in cartoons. And unless it's the Simpsons or Family Guy,NO alcohol in cartoons either.
I thought; in regards to guns, it was because 9/11 was still too fresh in people’s minds, although I’m not sure when the dub for Yu-Gi-Oh was made Edit: okay so I checked the date for when the dub came out in the US and it actually was released _after_ 9/11 as in after at least 2 weeks after the memory was still fresh in everyone’s minds. While that one Pokémon episode was made before 9/11, they actually had the gun been pulled one too many times in the episode. Though they could have at least changed it to something else in other scenes like the first one could have remained the same, but in the scenes to come who knows? They probably could have swapped to a baseball bat. My point is while the removal of guns might appear strange(quite literally in the case of Yu-Gi-Oh) in 4kids dubs, they could have been very well been done out of respect if the censoring was done within the first weeks of 9/11 for certain viewers who were still traumatized by such a tragedy
