- This video is from my first day experience in Tokyo. I will take you round some of the colorful areas such as Shinjuku and Shibuya and the entertainment districts of Tokyo. Here is the list of advices for tourists who decided to visit the capital of Japan and interesting tips that can help you save money and have an unforgettable time in the city.
Travel Itinerary & Costs:
1. Flight Details:
My flight route: Mumbai → Ahmedabad → Vietnam → Japan
Reason: This involved several stops which helped to cost less than the direct flight options. This costed us around INR 45,000 during peak season.
Direct Flight Cost: Approximately INR 35,000- 60000, which may vary with t the season and the time of the booking.
2. Accommodation:
Cost Range: from Rs Rs 5,000/- to Rs 30,000/- per night.
Our Stay: Okubo Hawaii hotel costed ₹5,000 per night, simple room with all facilities and at 2 minutes walking distance to Okubo Station.
3. Food Expenses:
Cost per Meal: ₹ 500 to ₹ 1000.
Tip: Convenience stores are other places that locals frequent and you will find decent meals at very reasonable prices.
4. Transportation:
Preferred Mode is always trains compared to the taxi cabs because they are very much expensive.
5. Suica Card: Get your suica card for free at the aiport itself and then top if up with a few yen. It’s convenient to use in train stations, convenient stores, and everywhere else you can imagine.

1. Stay Close to Stations: There's a lot of traveling to do in Japan so staying close to the station is going to make your life so much easier. Besides, who wants to take a long walk after an intense day of exploration.
2. Comfortable Shoes: Expect some movement so pack for it. Carry some comfortable pair of shoes.
3. Plan Your Day: There are so many things to do in Tokyo, try to squeeze in as many attractions as you can, pre plan so you don't waste time figuring this out during your trip.
4. Explore Convenience Stores: They provide such meals which are delicious and at the same time do not cost a lot of money.
5. Stay Hydrated: A water bottle should always be within your reach.
6. Cash is King: While E-cards are accepted almost everywhere it is easier and convenient to have small cash for these purchases. Carry a coin purse with you.
7. Language Apps: To facilitate the language barrier, you should use an application that can translate one language to the other. Google translate just does the magic for me.
8. Free Wi-Fi: Use of Wi-Fi which is freely available in some part and most stations.
9. Cultural Etiquette: The design involves certain etiquette and some etiquette you should avoid like standing on the right side when using escalators.

When I finished this one, it hit me that we really went to so many places on the first day itself, what was the secret mission even? Anddd I am equally glad that we went on this trip together, it was the absolute right thing to do!
