Nice job mate! Metcast in Auckland sells a water-based high zircon refractory coating called holcoat. The refractory can be kept in the bucket/tin indefinitely and just needs a mix up with a paint mixer. This outing is used in the industry for lost foam casting and has fantastic permeability. One dip coat is all you will need and makes for a fantastic casting. It's really not that expensive. Ask gor David when you phone and say you know me.
@@OddsandEndsMachining Just goes to show that one can use anything to make good castings Best thing is and that is using old metal to that can be found for nothing is a bonus looking forward to seeing it being machined.
I love a video where I learn a great casting tip in the first minute. Cheers!
Thanks. I’m glad you found it helpful.
very interesting, I like how this starts, greetings from Argentina

Phenomenal Work so far! Loved the use of wax to fill the gaps between the foam. The detail looks great. Excited to see the rest of the project
well done Sir. looking forward to seeing the next half. good luck
Really cool work. Looking forward to more.
So if your pour goes downa fill them up into the part then back up into a secondary you get much better pours
Your casting came out very good and really surprised me.
what type of sand did you use and the grade of aluminium.
Thanks, the aluminium was whatever Honda used to cast ct90 cylinder heads. The sand was regular old sand from the hardware store.
