I actually went to this game as a 12 year old for my birthday present. Amazing day and I remember being so nervous. Liverpool were such a dominant club of that era and to beat them in a single game let alone the league was an amazing achievement. The players also look so much healthier in this era, not one time did the trainers come on and a little known fact in this season but Aston Villa used on 14 players in the whole season and one of them only played one game I seem to remember. A simpler, happier time with much more passion, just listen to the fans too. Thank you for posting, I really appreciated this nostalgic trip down memory lane
I went to the villa v Southampton game on march 28th which was my 12th birthday. First villa game I ever went too. I remember listening to this game on the radio BRMB - and being so happy when Mortimer scored
I still remember this to this day. I went with my dad and my mate Stuart Robinson and his dad. I Remember going up to my dad when Mortimer scored the second goal and asking my dad if he was ok . Wonderful memories.
One of my favourite games ever. Villa proved in this game that the League Championship was theirs for the taking in what would ultimately prove to be the changing of the guard.
this match was the turning point in Villa quest for the 1980/81 league title. Later the title race was between Villa and Ipswich whereas Liverpool gradually drifted out and concentrated on the European Cup they last won in 1978.
I was there (LFC fan). Great game, even better memories , as I actually scored a hat trick in the morning for my school team, then Villa ruined the day haha

How good was Kenny swain - amazing touches and runs he made
Anyone beating Liverpool in those days was cool.
This Villa team didn't get many England players caps, stupidly Ron Saunders left & they won the ECup & within 2-3 years it fell apart.
Some great videos Villa Boy but they'd be a lot better to watch if you didn't tell us the score.
Eh?
@@VillaBoy Your videos reveal the score in the titles. It would make better viewing if we didn't know the result beforehand.
