Don’t sell the guy short. You can buy a state pass for the same places to let you stomp around the very same spots and chuck the same stuff with the same skills, maybe the same skills but you can try…. Thanks John. You the man. MTK was exactly 99.9 miles front my door and did it twice in two days more than a few times. So much info! Build on it. It makes you better at catching.
Oh John. Fishing my families old property. Be careful the new owner or most recent owner "Witt eh veen" has a drone and security at times back there. So many good times. I was fortunate that we owned all that down to D pond. Thanks for the memories.
Wow. That's a real jewel of land and beach. 30 years ago I used to use "fire road #2" to get there. Now I usually come in from the west, although quite a walk. I hope they never develop it.
Incredibly clear water John. The StonyBrook harbor is teeming with slot fish right now. There must be an about dance of baitfish in the waters. Oven never seen so many stripers this late in the season.
Just ordered your new book. Second one in my collection. I'm gonna have a ton of info and new techniques to try for 2023. Wish my journey from bait fishing to lure fishing a success!
It's great to see the stripers so plentiful. I'm in Florida now, but I remember back 15-20 years ago we really struggled getting a striper. Now every time I go back up north we do pretty well.
Fantastic video! It’s incredible to watch and as always very informative and helpful. And just finished a season on The edge for the third time, perfect balance between instruction and the fishing stories themselves!
Nice video! Just got the new book myself. I saw them just like this in the back bays a few weeks ago but they wouldn't hit the bucktail at first either.
Nice healthy schools John. Hopefully they numbers are coming back. In the original 13 colonies there was so many stripes they ground them to sell as fertilizer. It paid for all the Public Schools!
@John Skinner Fishing question for you ......after you cast the bucktail out are you waiting to hit bottom first before reeling ? ( or reeling as soon as you land in the water ? )
I got your new 6'3" Dark Matter Jig and Bounce Spinning yesterday at Tight Lines in Somers Point , NJ yesterday. So glad it was available down here but it's probably sold out now cause Tog season opens today. I'm so excited I feel like a little kid. Now I just have to choose what size reel. Any suggestions?
Wow what a sight. Amazing how they don't spook and actually crowd around a hooked up fish. I guess they must think that particular fish is on something good. Did you throw any top water? I wouldn't have been able to resist!
Wow thats crazy action, a quick question on the ne bounce n jog spinning rods how do the differ than the Tsunami slimwave rods you used. Are they a replacement or suplement?
Hey John. I’ve been a fan for years. Even shook your hand in J&H. I’m in port Jeff and asking how Far East do I have to go to find albies and/ or stripers doing this. Sure isn’t happening in port Jeff or Mt Sinai.
I've never fished on a beach so I know nothing about " reading the beach " can anyone point me in the right direction? I need info on understanding the structures in regards to surf casting.
I'm surprised that you use a 1 oz jig in such shallow water. It wouldn't occur to me to go over a half oz. I guess the size of the bait around could mean you need a bigger lure. Sounds like the bait was small so wouldn't a small jig be best in that situation? Or did you need the weight for casting far enough? Obviously you caught fish but I wonder if a smaller presentation would have caught more? I almost always use 1/4 oz on a beach like that in Florida.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing ok hope everything was well and you made out okay that was a wild storm do you think it’s to late to try now I live on the northshore and was thinking maybe this weekend. Thanks John.
Why make such a comment if you don't know where I am? If you did, you'd realize that with a 20 minute walk from unregulated public parking, you could be on this beach. A lot of people don't want to walk, but instead crowd parking areas close to the water. I walked close to 5 miles in total yesterday in the course of my fishing efforts.
This dude can manifest fish out of thin air. unbefreakinlievable.
He has access to a lot of private beaches and bay access areas that most people do not have access too but in general yes

Man oh man wish I could fish out there..too far for me..I'd have to rent a hotel room for 3 days just to make it worthwhile....😟😟😟
It is so wonderful to see Stripers in Long Island Sound like this… when I fished there in the late 70’s and early 80’s they were a rare catch!
Thank you, John! I sure miss my days walking the beaches of Southold. This takes me back.
That's so cool seeing them just swimming around close to the beach. That makes for a great day of fishing. Thanks for sharing, John! 👍
Perfect example as they say the bite is on! Gettum while you can.!! Awesome!!
Watch the ads!!!! The amount of knowledge this guy has given us guys living in the northeast is game changing.

Amazing clear water - looks like a tropical beach 🙂 Bait feeding frenzy close to shore - one could almost catch a striper by hand 🙂
Such a healthy fishery. Great vid - thanks.
We have the same anchovy in Texas, sometimes they get pushed against the shore in the gulf and everything goes nuts. Neat video, thanks!

That's great that you're on your third reading of my first book! Thanks for sharing that.
Wow very cool. Hey I got to mention I'm thrilled that Uncle Josh is back!
Agreed. It's nice to have that option.
Awesome vid! Clear water makes it so easy to see the fish.
Thanks, John!
Fly fisherman’s dream scenario - stripers close to shore eating bait so small you can throw a matching streamer on a six weight.
It’s the most wonderful time of the fishing year.
They’re everywhere right now. We were catching them in New York harbor every other cast. Best time of year.
Raritan Bay was good too before the blow this weekend .
Only John Skinner can walk out to an open beach on a blue bird day and bang out blitzing Bass.
Bạn câu cá ở bãi biển này rất sạch sẽ, cá cắn câu cũng nhiều thích lắm.
excellent fishing at that location. a few hundred yards out is awsome black seabass spots!
Nice beach ⛱️ same as my hometown ⛱️
Nice video! Just got the new book myself. I saw them just like this in the back bays a few weeks ago but they wouldn't hit the bucktail at first either.
Thanks for your support!
If i was there i would have thrown a small topwater and get some cool topwater eats .
Hey John, wheres your e-bike when you catch up to the fish? Great video!
Looks like a freaking aquarium!
Definitely some great cardio you must be very healthy
Amazing how Mr. Skinner can catch so many fish at will. I hope I can become half as good a fisherman some day.
Anyone can catch them when they're schooled up like that.
How in the world did you not tie on a top water plug immediately? Lol...thank you for sharing John!
I'd rather have the single hook crushed barb bucktail. I normally work under blitzes anyway. It's where bigger bass are.
Nice healthy schools John.
Hopefully they numbers are coming back.
In the original 13 colonies there was so many stripes they ground them to sell as fertilizer. It paid for all the Public Schools!
You can't beat that reel for that price it's a beast
Agreed.
Is it possible to make a review of the shimano current sniper splash walk? 🤔 Thanks..
That's too easy! 🤣🤣
Man that is some school of stripers. Plenty of action to keep you busy.
John: Hope you realize you caught more fish in this video than most guys catch in a season! Non pareil.
@John Skinner Fishing question for you ......after you cast the bucktail out are you waiting to hit bottom first before reeling ? ( or reeling as soon as you land in the water ? )
No - I only do that for fluke. Cast and swim.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing great thank you

2500-3000, and thanks for your support!
What size rod and reel were you using? The links had options
8' rod 4000 reel
Wow what a sight. Amazing how they don't spook and actually crowd around a hooked up fish. I guess they must think that particular fish is on something good. Did you throw any top water? I wouldn't have been able to resist!
I wanted to stay with the crushed-barb single hook bucktail.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing Makes sense. For the record, I would have thrown a jumpin' minnow with inline singles.
Wow thats crazy action, a quick question on the ne bounce n jog spinning rods how do the differ than the Tsunami slimwave rods you used. Are they a replacement or suplement?
The slimwave is a very fast taper. Mine are more moderate.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing thanks
Love the contents. But why are the recent videos all with the horizon at 30-40 angles…?
Must be the head strap. I'll try another.
I just got a lemiglass gsb I love it
Those are great rods.
Hey John. I’ve been a fan for years. Even shook your hand in J&H. I’m in port Jeff and asking how Far East do I have to go to find albies and/ or stripers doing this. Sure isn’t happening in port Jeff or Mt Sinai.
East of mattituck, but they've recently pulled the floating docks off the ramp. Also, albies might be gone with this cold.
Where in North Shore is this?
long island
The best spot, friend. His strike is the best. Stay motivated. ANGLERsolo is present to monitor his video. Hello, a hobby

It's a bulky 1-ounce jig that works well in that situation.
Any blackfishing from shore coming up John love the videos
Didn't get to do it this fall because I lost 3 weeks dealing with the florida storm.

Is that the North shore or south?
north
@@JohnSkinnerFishing hopefully they will jump the sound and head to Norwalk
Not a thing to watch just before bed. It'll take half an hour to get my pulse rate down.
I think I know the spot, wego bait shop🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
i go to my local beach, it’s filled with people who dont speak english, dirty water, and not 1 fish to be seen for miles
you should move
Not fair when yoy can see the strike
GHEE WIZZ !!!!!
You sure did cover a lot of ground, where’s your beach moped and crocks when you really need them?
HA, HA, HA, HA, HA,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I did think about the e-bike, but those stones are just too loose. Exercise is a good thing anyway I guess.
@@JohnSkinnerFishing ; we need more catch and cook please. WE NEED CLAM RECIPES!!!! DON’T FORGET YOUR MILLER PLACE ROOTS.
HA, HA, HA, HA,,,,,,,,
Pick up the fly rod my man…
that was my first thought! Stripers in 2 or 3 feet of water on small bait, give me a deceiver or Clouser!
I'm a fan but can never get into the strip bass videos
Cool to watch but not very instructional..go somewhere anyone can go to. Id rather watch a few fish caught on a public beach

Please tell me you picked up the floating trash literally at your feet, Twice. 1st was a purple wrapper at 2.50 and 2nd was a Powerade bottle at 5:56
John - Please tell us where you are fishing! I grew up on the North Fork and I see a lot of locations that look familiar. Thanks!
yeah thats not gonna happen. you gotta look for landmarks
